my neighbor in north georgia had one in 1966 i was 5 yrs old and it was the coolest thing i had ever seen. i had no idea that they had only been around a few years. i assumed they had been around as long as cars . THANK YOU VERY MUCH
I’m sure it was! Did it have the cool leather diamond stitched seats? We should definitely bring that back! 😂
Nice video. I never knew the history. Didn't realize it started in the 50's.
Thanks a lot man! There’s loads of History to be discovered in karting!
very nice video, mate! one funny idea can open up a whole new industry and world :)
Yeah, something just built for fun has become such a important stepping stone into motorsport
It’s interesting that karting was invented in the U.S., and now it’s a major motor sport in Europe, but not here (in the U.S.).
Yeah it is weird. Through my research I found a lot of old British Karts but they were from 58/59. I thought they were the first ones tbh
No go kart is more attractive than that first one.
The first kart ever made was certainly a looker! However the diamond stitched seats should definitely make a come back!
There is a picture of Elvis Presley doing laps at Graceland in his go kart!
Wish I knew this before the video 🫠 thanks for letting me know!
to this day I wish for a world that regarded karts or superkarts as a fantastic sport in isolation, rather than just getting attention for being a teaching tool for formula drivers. Its a type of vehicle, in the end, made for nothing but motorsport and excitement, and that should be recognized.
100% agree with this. Karting has and provides some of the best, closest and fiercest races. Only comparable to MotoGP. I understand that the younger people see it is a stepping stone to a career but realistically, once a Karter is over 18, they won’t make a career out of motorsport, so karting should be celebrated for the awesome sport that it is
@@Wolemid It at least seems like people IN karting see the value of it. Would also love to see more karting on dirt and snow, or a series in the US with spec tires, lord knows you can shell out a lot on tires.
I’d love to do a dirt oval race, if you know someone to hook me up in America 🫠
