Jack Black makes a really good lip balm that doesn’t leave that annoying film on my lips that most balms do. I used it long before I realized it has SPF too 💃🏽 Black Girl Sunscreen also makes a clear lip gloss with SPF.
I really like the Sun Bum lip balms. I'm not vegan but I really like the texture of vegan lip balms, more oily rather than waxy. They do have a variety of scents available though which I actually love.
SPF 50, too?! That is good!! I’ve always been annoyed at lip balms with low SPF. Never made sense to me! I’ve been using the Vanicream mineral SPF 50 lip balm (thanks to you, Dr. Dray!) and recently decided to try out the synthetic SPF 30 lip balm from Hawaiian Tropic. I can’t use Avobenzone or Oxybenzone on my face- ESPECIALLY near my eyelids- they’ll give me an awful, swollen, red rash. No problem on the rest of my body though! And so far, no problem with the synthetic SPF lip balm on my lips. Come to think of it, I’ve never had a sunburn on my lips. I’m grateful for that, it sounds awful! But when I was younger, and experienced a few sunburns, my lips were never effected. Clearly I hadn’t been wearing sunscreen on those occasions, so I’m wondering how my lips escaped the burn. I’ve definitely gotten burnt on my scalp before, where my hair parted. Was visiting the San Diego Zoo in August, and the UV rays must have been really strong that day. I had sunscreen on everywhere else, but it hadn’t occurred to me that I could get burnt where my hair parted. It was pretty painful, especially when I discovered it later in the evening, after attempting to brush my hair. Ouch! Definitely learned a lesson that day. Now whenever I go out, and I know I’ll be in the sun for a long time, I dab sunscreen on the areas where my hair might be parted.
@@nicolaxoxo1 It’s not chemical sunscreens as I’ve use them on my face. It could be that the lip tissue is either more sensitive or a problem with the inert ingredients.
I’ve not been able to find this lip balm where I live in Canada, I do love using the Rohto Metholatum brand Melty Cream Lip SPF 25/PA+++ from Japan, though. It contains fatty acids and ceramides, it has improved my lips so much without irritation and while is available in yummy sounding fragrances, I always buy the fragrance free! If I see the one featured here, I will want to try it too. Not all sunscreens are approved for Canada so that might be why I haven’t seen it here.
My target still has this in stock, I only wore it once so far, I like how it stays on, I’m sure it’s great for the beach, but man, when you first put it on, the chemical taste is undeniable for me! I do find it goes away once it sets though;)
Yes girl I love this 2 pack from target and they don’t expire for a long time! I used a whole tube last year and I still have one that will last most of this year, amazing.
In one of her older videos, she recommended Sundance spf 50, saying it's moisturising. I tried it, but it's not for me. No matter how much I apply, it is very thin on my lips and it has no positive effect when my lips are chapped. I love Sebamed lip balm with spf 30. It protects my lips and it's also semi-thick. I recommend it.
My significant other wears this all the time. He is macho building contractor with a salt and pepper beard. And cherry red lips. He just shrugged when I asked about it.
I love the Jack Black one, but it definitely rubs off pretty easily. Good to know this one is waterproof! I liked the Paula’s Choice one, but it’s only online and I don’t order enough stuff from them to justify having it shipped to me 😔
I honestly just put my mineral sunscreen on my lips now because the lip balm sunscreens dry my lips out so bad and put a funky taste in my mouth. I’ve found that my regular face sunscreen doesn’t do that. I use the Avéne mineral SPF 50 and I love it.
Thanks, I am allergic to chemical sunscreens so I will try Avene. Generally their products, especially those in the Tolerance line, are tolerated by my face.
I was today years old when I learned you need SPF for your lips too! Lol 😅 so gonna be doing that now too ❤ I wear spf daily as my morning skincare routine

I’m obsessed with the Nudestix Nudescreen lip primer spf 30. It has zinc oxide and the tint seems really universal. I’ve been using it on my cheeks for blush/bronzer also.
I just bought the chap ice lip spf 30 from Dollar tree that you recommended. It's fantastic. I love the light coconut scent and there's no taste. It applies beautifully over lipstick. Thank you!!!!
Lots of bad reviews for this product leaving a “chemical after taste” even though it’s flavor free. It’s not a mineral sunscreen. Others recommended Sun Bum instead. Sorry, Dr Dray. This one has too many issues.
After watching your channel, I wanted a good SPF lip balm and this was the best I could find to meet my preferences. I love the Sun Bum watermelon for flavor/enjoyability, but it's too pricey to have absolutely everywhere I want to keep a tube and isn't a high enough SPF to rely on solely. I'm so glad you like the Up & Up sport, because I own, like, 20. 😂
My whole life’s mission is to find a good SPF lip Baum. I’ve found a couple but with very low protection (spf 15) UNTIL… I just recently found an amazing 50spf one by La Roche Posay on my recent trip to Paris. I feel like I need to ration it. I will have to try your rec when I run out.

There are some good review videos about lip sunscreens without spf but if you don’t feel like watching, products with mineral instead of chemical uv filters tend to avoid this.
Lip sun protection is indeed super important ! Pity about all the petroleum ingredients (which I do NOT like ingesting) and the endocrine-disruptive sunscreen ingredients (Homosalate, Octocrylene, Avobenzone) in this formulation. So many other manufacturers are trying to replace these ingredients with safer alternatives (and which don't necessarily leave a white cast). FYI in Europe they have just banned the use of petroleum ingredients in lip balms for kids.
What a great find. Aged lips can you look really old, protection and great price. Australia has had trouble with sunscreens that caused second degree burns.
You had me at fragrance free. The smell of sunscreen makes me nauseous. So I have to be so picky about sunscreen. I usually stick to K beauty sunscreens.
Aquaphor makes a lip balm with SPF 30 can get at Target and they sell it in a two pack. You can also get the lip balm without the SPf which I use that one at night and it has really helped my split cracked lips in the corner of my mouth

Supergoop play lip shield is very good, I’m currently using that one now. I also like Paula’s choice lipscreen. They apply so well! Will have to try this next once I’m done.
Oh, my, I quadruple apply my SPF to my face. But, I was in the desert this past weekend, and did not have an SPF for my lips. My lips got so sunburned, while the rest of my face was just fine.
I bought five of them and I didn’t realize they were two packs so I will be stocked up for a while with 10 balms 😂 I tried it out also, and I love them!
Nope, I hate that lip spf because it has coconut oil. I’m sensitive to that and it’s also comedogenic so I’m worried about it getting on the skin around my mouth because I’m acne prone. I love the Aquaphor one though! ❤

I got a sunburn on my lip when i was 13....I am now 35 and still have some scars. It was so painful.
You could also run this balm across your eyebrows and the part in your hair. There is skin hiding there that we need to protect from sunburn ☀️

YES! I’ve used jack black lip balm for years!! Super moisturizing and even in the Vegas sun no sun burn I wish she would try them out!

My aunt had a basal cell carcinoma removed from her lip. That was my wake up call for lip protection. I never even gave it a thought before.
Black Girl Sunscreen has a great spf lip gloss too!
Banana Boat SPF 45 is also a good one and under $4, water resistant up to 80 minutes.
O'Keefe's lip repair SPF is my favorite.

You may be allergic to chemical sunscreens if your lips swell or peel from using SPF on them

My favorite is Chapstick's Black Cherry SPF 15. It's the only one I've tried that doesn't leave any sunscreen taste. It's slightly tinted.

I use my facial sunscreen on my lips too and it is absolutely ok for me. You can use that if you tolerate it, you don’t have to buy lip spf

I am from Germany and I have a Lip bomb from Sun Ozon sensitive 50 + UVA + UVB without with whitecarst.

@@clarissathompson Your body has its own protection to all these things , u just feed it with good foods and it will develops its own immunity

sun bum is great...it is spf 30 (this one is 50), leaves a white cast (this does not). I dont taste anything with either,

I find that lip spf products always end up getting in my mouth, and to say the least, they always taste disgusting...

Chapstick's Black Cherry with SPF 15 has NO sunscreen taste. It has a slight red tint.
O'Keefe's makes an SPF 35 lip balm that tastes almost like citrus that I love! And I'm very picky about sunscreen taste in my mouth 🤢

Boots Soltan Sunscreen Stick is also a very good alternative since its free of fragrance and colorant as well

I have been using the mentholatum lip balm for over 20 years and I just realized it has spf haha.
The up and up sun stick should also not be slept on. The full sized and kids version are the same thing and the formula is great.

O’KEEFFE’S Lip Repair, SPF 35, is a great skin protection/ Sunscreen. Dermatologist recommended, of course & no need to shop at Target.
