Glad to see you making a video essay about Yi-Yi, one of my favorite films. Two days ago I just watched this picture in a theater in Taipei. This is my first time watching it on big screen. Incredible experience. Just found deeper connection between the film and my life.
Of the contemporary Taiwan directors, Edward is my favorite. Yi Yi is a masterpiece, the three hours flies by with each viewing. As you mentioned, it's a "novel film", each viewing, you get something new from the experience. Like Yang Yang's photos, your video essay sheds another insight into this masterpiece of the new millennium, made a quarter of a century ago.
