Ngl to you, it takes a good year and some months for the dreads you may wish for if you’re starting with low hair. If you have like a lot of hair, like a whole ass big Afro and did semi-freeforms then you will be having that dread look in like a good 3-5 months ngl. Your hair just won’t be locked but it will look nice and the ugly stage really is only about a month or two for them

I’ve been freeforming for about 6 years rn my high tops dreads have combined and they did grow to the middle of my back. I recently just cut mines to shoulder length. That process worked for my hair.
