It's because he didn't have his back foot pressed at the tail, having it placed more towards the middle of the board, i also love to surf like this, so i don't use traction pad in my shortboards
I saw Dora surfing a short single fin at Malibu legendary swell Oct '73. He was lookin' good and the crowd was cheering him.
