I am sure she is on a monthly medication . She is a working farm dog that is out in the countryside 24/7 and not getting a few ticks at certain times of the year is impossible . Vanessa does not hold pets hostage nor does she give owners orders or ultimatums . She helps owners and pets , that would be the exact opposite of helping . smdh
Our Pyrenees looked like this old girl often, especially when they were older. Laying in straw with their livestock, rolling in the pastures, holes to get cool, wading in a pond or livestock water tub, it is their life. It is what they love to do. Those eyes, that is the soulful eyes of a Pyrenees.
She may be less of a *working* dog and more just continues to hang out and "work" to keep her having a personal purpose. She may also be being used to help train up a younger dog as well

Same. Like, I know they are working dogs, but they still need a bare minimum level of care. They aren't farm machinery and I think some farm dog owners forget that 😕 At least trim their nails, put them on a monthly flea/tick preventative, and bathe them at least twice per season to prevent hot spots.

@@cheftoni55 not my dog in the video, but mine have the lyme vaccine, plus take nextguard(feed through flea/tick preventative) and a topical from the vet...all they do is prevent most ticks from biting, and prevents them from getting sick if they do get one that bites and latches on. So the owners of this farm dog may very well have them on preventatives, and still be carrying ticks.

She's a farm dog! Even preventatives aren't 100% and working on a farm is a ripe environment for ticks and fleas, even with prevention. Don't be too hard on the owners.
My MIL used to groom dogs, and one year when we were out visiting her i helped her groom a very sweet dog that had more than 50 ticks on its head alone. I became very adept at get those rotten buggers off. That poor dog. So sweet though, didn't move a muscle while I tweezed and dunked the ticks into a container of rubbing alcohol. Sadly my MIL told me it wasn't the first time the owner had brought in dogs in poor condition. I hope this lovely senior floof gets tick preventative before she's out and about again. Such a sweet love.

Soooo glad you mentioned the overgrown nails that cause pain/discomfort & difficulty walking. Bc overgrown nails twist as they hit the floor first (I would make all owners walk on their fingernails & see if they like it..at least they can cut their nails) makes the dog lean their weight backwards to avoid the pressure on the sensitive nail bed. This can lead to premature joint and ligament issues. Poor dogs.😢

What an amazing before and after!! As an Australian it still blows my mind that dogs can have multiple ticks without issues. We have paraylsis ticks that are the most common and even a single small tick can kill a large dog, it's something I don't risk even though ticks aren't common in the suburbs.
I care for two senior pups with anaplasmosis from ticks (they are on antibiotics as we speak and recovering well!) Make sure to get your dogs tested regularly and have them on preventative. this disease is more aggressive than Lyme and causes them significant discomfort. 🐶
Poor sweet dog. Hopefully they tell the owners so they get her on one of those chewable tick preventatives and keep her nails better trimmed (esp. the dewclaws) so she can be more comfortable in the future
I really enjoy watching these and how satisfying it must be to transform a dogs appearance. I adopted a lurcher from a rescue and he was a bit pongy so took him to a local groomer. He loved the attention and the air blower/drier. Looking a million dollars we walked off down the street and now i was the scruffy one! 😁
I just love this breed. We are surrounded by sheep ranches and it’s fun to try to locate one amongst the herd. They are very street wise and watching them at work is amazing.

That nail trim was indeed immensely satisfying, I'm a little OCD about my personal dogs's nails and I run a doggy daycare so it's hard for me to resist the urge to cut everyone's nails for free, so your videos help me get my fix! Maybe one day I'll commit to being more consistent with social and be able to do it for free too. Your content is so inspiring to me.
@@parkermaewe did that at a daycare I worked at years ago. I was the lucky one who got all the nails done. We even took dogs that needed to be sedated at the vet, and retrained them to allow us to do them without any problems.
Actually I am not so convinced that this beauty is truly a farm doggo, such dogs due to their duties and constant moving don't have overgrown nails as she had. Even the dewclaws most of the time don't need trimming. Yes, she is an old girl but still...
I wish you could come to Nebraska. My friend has a Great Pyranise dog and she won't take her to the groomers. The husband, a farmer, thinks it costs an insane amount of money for "just a haircut". He thinks it's a waste of money, and she believes him.
