This track alone actually makes this sound a bit superior to its American remake and makes it an overall funner game due to the original characters being quite entertaining and for the more absurd storyline of Satan trying to have his way with a little girl. The remake wins on sprite detail and somehow managing to add even more catchy tunes that sound exactly similar to the ones found in Puyo Puyo. But, the original just has more charisma to it that the westernized release does not have after I finally decided to give this one a shot and realized its true potential it held with its music sounding better due to more melody and less drumming, gameplay feeling a bit tighter and difficulty not spiking unfairly.

That song actually first appeared as Arle's theme as a Japan exclusive Puyo game celebrating the 15th anniversary of the series, and has been used in most games since then.
Let me clear up the apparent confusion in the comments. Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine uses a rearranged Theme of Puyo Puyo for the cast roll, and Sunset of Puyo Puyo is used for the actual credits. But there IS also an unused Theme of Puyo Puyo in MBM. Seems for a time there were people fighting over this.
