    Gregor - I have been using studio one for 12 years now, and I always refer to you as the main source of information for this DAW. You are ONE in Studio One and without your detailed explanations on features and functions, which I should have come to grips with years ago, I would have likely moved to another DAW. Thanks for being the go to resource on the platform. You are a gem!

For someone unfamiliar or even experienced, these videos must be watched multiple times to get all of the details committed to memory. The shortcut keys and zooming videos are like that as well. I started using Studio One because of Gregor. Not vice versa. I work in Ableton full time, still have Cubase from back in the days and need to use Pro Tools for swapping sessions when working at major studios, but I enjoy these Gregor vlogs so much, I actually started to want to use Studio One just because of how good the energy is here. Gonna make it my mixing DAW instead of PT. I love how Studio One can both simultaneously feel like Ableton in it's workflow speed and simplified Pro Tools in it's mixing mindset, with a bit of Cubase thrown in for when you wanna compose a bit. 🔥

    Would be great to have "Transform ALL tracks to rendered audio" global command. This will render all tracks inside project except those which are disabled. This is handy to preserve finished project in case plugins are not avalible or CPU power is low (when some one opens your project on another computer) or has no specific plugins. Same for tracks inside folder. Option: "Transform all tracks inside folder" via context menu

    Hi Gregor - Hope you see this? The video is two years old after all, but I couldn't find a way to message you directly as a Sphere member, so here goes. I love your videos & find them both extremely informative & dare I say entertaining? :)
    Question: Is there a way to render an instrument track to audio including plugins, but leaving the automation untouched? I like to mix as I go along & render plugins in order to relieve the load on my cpu, then in the final stages of mixing, when all tracks & track plugins have been rendered , tweak the automation to my liking. I appreciate that it's probably the norm to leave automation altogether until the final stages, but as I said I like to tinker with automation as I build a track, but don't want to commit myself until the last minute.
    Cheers

    Something I just noticed is that bouncing differs between audio and instrument tracks; Audio tracks are by bouncing (CTRL+B) event based with only event properties being rendered. Bouncing (again with CTRL+B) a instrument track is channel based and actually invokes the "bounce to new track" command it seems because it renders inserts from the channel. And adds a new track obviously.
    Just wanted to add this since it made me confused.
    From the reference manual under "Bouncing":
    "Note that the Instrument Part's active Insert Effects, as well as Volume and Pan settings, are rendered to the new bounced audio file."
    Great video nonetheless!

    This looks great! :) . I have a request, its a small minor thing, but Id love to be able to have a buss track next to the master track (like a sub bus) its just a visual thing but would love the ability even if its just a tick box in the options to allow some busses or fx tracks to visually go on the far right next to the master. That would be awesome! (so then I can keep my fx channels for individuals next to the audio track and maybe have both going to their own bus (eg. drumbus, bass bus acoustic guitar bus, Vox bus etc, ) on the left mixing, BUT on the FAR right stuck to the master channel have the ability to have busses and fx channels that stays there next the master track (just for visual) i.e. it never disappears from view as its touching the far right master track (subbus) Hope that makes sense lol!

  • @BNLNRD
    @BNLNRD 3 года назад +3

    Something that's been glossed over here: With mixdown selection reverb- or delay tails get cut off at the end of the event, which is a bit of a shame. I'd love the option to set the length of the resulting event by the loop range, for instance, or via a range selection, or maybe even just through a dialogue similar to the one when you render
    Event FX.
    (Sure, there's always the workaround of creating a midi channel with an empty instrument part of your desired length or printing the track in realtime, but that's a bit annoying to do when what you actually want is so darn close!)

    I recently moved from ProTools to S1 and am glad I did. I've come to this tutorial because I just recorded 2 Guitar tracks, which I did a few 'edits' on to fix a few glitches...nothing new there.
    BUT when I used to do this in PT it was straight forward to just join all the different 'sections/events/region' clips on any track, and this would create a new audio file, I could then delete the unused sections to clean up the song folder.
    Now today, having done a few edits to both the guitar tracks, I "thought" I'd joined them into new single tracks, made up of the individual 'clip/event' sections on the track after the editing...BUT it seems that S1 didn't actually join them all up to create a new Audio file, but was still referencing the originals...Is this correct?
    I'll now watch Gregor and see how he explains it, because he's pretty good.
    It's just so weird t hat S1 seems to handle such a simple task in a not-so-simple way.

    • @presonus

      Hi Carl, that shouldn't be the case, although it is possible because certain plugins behave a little different when being rendered in real time vs offline. For context, I do drum tracking but not all clients want the hassle of mixing 4 separate snare tracks. Is there a way to bounce clips with automatic tail detection so the bounce isn't cut off at the same length as the original clip?

    • @presonus
      @presonus  3 года назад

      There is - Use "Transform" for that. On Event FX, you can also set a tail before clicking "render". See attached screenshot: www.dropbox.com/s/un6vrhnlnr2yide/Screenshot%202021-01-26%20at%2019.30.50.png?dl=0

    Hi Gregor, Please Help. I purchased S15 artist for one reason. I would like to take an acappella of any song and remix it on a instrumental of another song. I cannot find tutorial that clearly explains this.

    Hey all, sorry asking here, hope it's okay.. thanks for that vid, Gregor, makes the differend steps rendering/bouncing
    in S1 clear to understand, but I'm searching hours now to implement the following question, and can't help myself.
    I drop a short 2 second audio file in an audio track and insert a longer delay. After mixdown to a new track
    the effect is rendered but without the delay tail. The file is as long as the original and the delay is cutted off.
    Is there something I do not configured in the settings or is the proceeding I choose not right? Thanks!
    (using Studio One Version 4)
    [EDIT]
    Args, after posting I found "Track Transform" in the manual.. it does what I'm asking.. but is it also possible to keep the
    original track with inserts so we can quickly do multiple copies with different settings?
    [EDIT]
    Holy, using Event-FX, calculate, duplicate the event to a new track, undo the calculation, adjust the fx settings and
    repeat the steps is really nice and what I'm searching for!

    S1 has so much great special functions for bouncing. But I can not find a simple function in S1 how to freeze or bounce or commit a buss/folder or an FX Channel ? Any Idea? I don't want to bounce all tracks inside a buss. I want to bounce the output of an Buss and then deactivate the tracks inside for a quitck CPU save.
    In ProTools this is so easy and simple. you can commit any track, instruments, busses, audio tracks and you get a rendered version of it without loosing the original. Is there any way to do this easy in S1?

    I want to be able to bounce an event including the FX without having to port it to another track. Also, how do you mixdown to a new track IN MONO? I do Mixdown to new track in a mono track and it mixes down to a new track in stereo! Dude...

    Hi, I need help,please... Still new to studio one about a month in it now. and also a + memeber. Love the DAW. And starting to love all Presonus products as I get more into this.
    My problem is that I would like to render the inserts on one Track/channel. Not the whole routng etc. When I use Transform to rendered audio. It seems to work but my backtrack/instrumntal does not play anymore. Very weird to me...🙂🙂 I need to save my work close the song and reopen it again, then only the backtrack/instrumntal plays as weel as everything else.
    However when I use mixdown selction. It works great but it rendered/mixdowneverythingincluding inserts on bus/folde channels it was routed to. Do I have toswitch off alltheother inserts and processing before mixdownd selection? I would prefer it works with transform to rendered audio as it seems I can go back whenever I want to to previous state.

    Is there any difference of sonic quality in the rendering selections?
    thanks and cheers

      No. Some plugins might react slightly differently when being rendered vs printed in real time, but there are no inherent quality differences. -GBY

    3:50 how you move event and it gets other tracks colour ( in this case blue)

    • @presonus
      @presonus  3 года назад

      Hi Mete, the Event color is determined by the Track color. Because I was moving the Event onto a Track with the color blue, the Event turned blue as well. If you're asking how I moved it exactly, I just did that with left click & drag. No keyboard shortcuts involved here. -GBY

    Need a video on how to print to track

    • @Artek604
      @Artek604 3 года назад

      That's Mixdown Selection (it prints whatever you select, also from multiple tracks, to single audio) that he shows there. Unless you mean something else?

    • @presonus
      @presonus  3 года назад

      Hi Tx, you can print any channel to a Track by setting it as input on an Audio Track. If you want to print the Main Out onto an Audio Track, that's also possible! See this video HERE: ruclips.net/video/e55ShTCxJDc/видео.html

    I rendered down my stems. Closed the project and when I reopened it i couldn't figure out how to undo render because the "undo" reset. Is there a way i can undo render after closing a project and reopening?

    • @presonus
      @presonus  6 месяцев назад +1

      Hi, the undo history clears when a project is reopened, so there is no way to restore it. You would have to delete the renders from the Mixdown folder manually. -GBY

    So why not have one render command with checkboxes for dry, event processing, channel processing, bus processing, main processing. Instead of having to memorize all these individual behaviors.
    And if you select multiple tracks a check box for mix or separate.

    Hi!, I need to know how do I render tracks with inserts and sends to a new track or it can be the same track. All I need is that after the render the effects, sends and inserts is rendered/printed/burned in the track. Everything I do that showes in your video only render my inserts and not my sends, for example my reverb send is not there after the render but the delay used in the inserts is.

    • @presonus
      @presonus  4 месяца назад +1

      Hi Louie, the option you're looking for is called "Mixdown Selection" - this renders your selection onto a new Track, including all Effects. Hope this helps. -GBY

    I have only one question (Windows): how to hide render window after the process WITHOUT showing Windows Explorer window? It's very, very annoying to me :D I know about setting related with this, but as I know there are only two scenarios: or SO5 hides the render window and shows Window Explorer, or SO5 does not show Window Explorer, but the render window does not dissapear... Any ideas? :)
