  • we already knew that Filipinos were good at English but looking at this video we were again amazed on how much they use the #language in their everyday life. All around the #Philippines the language is very much spread and we can probably assure that the majority is #bilingual :) Great video, great country

    I always noticed that Koreans has a high standard regarding to English accent, they don't want to employ filipino to teach because they doesn't like our accent, for them it's not the "STANDARD" well there's nothing wrong with our English accent actually, we have 175+ languages and dialects, everyone of us has different English accents it depends on which part of Philippines do you live, even koreans had their own English accent and that makes sense right? Well just for everyone to know there are a lot of filipino's in Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar, and other part of Southeast Asia teaching English and they compliment us by our English speaking skills, they appreciate us more than some Koreans who like to moke and discriminate our accent when in fact our accent is better than them LMAO. The audacity to say that to a country where so many koreans living and studying English. Don't think this as a hate comment, I'm just stating what I observed and this is frankly speaking of what my perspective about our English accent.

    yes we speak English well. it is only the accent that makes our English different. but, mind you, our pronunciation of words can be understood all around the world. accent does not convey meaning, the words do. we don't TRY to use English, we speak English. even those who had no privilege to formal education here in the Philippines can somehow speak English. our laws and curricula are 90 percent in English. even Americans during the post war era were recruiting English teachers from the Philippines to teach in the US, because of our tendency to pronounce every syllable, which according to them was quite helpful in spelling.

    sometimes, we just say the word nosebleeding but really doesn't mean we cannot speak the language. I think most of the Filipinos say they didn't know a lot in the English language although they really know a lot, but only not everything, just enough for the basic ones.

      Agree. I actually say “my nose is bleeding” a lot of times even though i understand the whole english sentence. Probably because filipinos are fond of using this phrase for fun. So, basically, everytime you hear filipino saying this phrase, don’t believe em’ coz it’s just for fun, if y’all know what i mean.

    The girl always seems doubtful 😏. Then try to compare the locals in your country than most locals here. Disregard the accent in doesn’t have any bearing, it’s more on how well can you communicate using a language which is not your primary language. Jeepney drivers, buko vendors regular people in this country can easily communicate with foreigners.

    but I must say that the majority of the Filipinos speaks more fluent in English than that the majority of Koreans. To put it in numbers Philippines total population is over a hundred million and the majority speaks English since English is our second language, out of a hundred million 80 percent of it speaks great english and 95% at least can read and understand it.. we learned it more natural because it is part of our curriculum so whether you are poor or not you can learn and speak a descent English here in the Philippines on the other hand only the privileged koreans can afford to learn English in Korea or they even send their children abroad just to learn English..
    but for me it's not about the accent or the language itself because language are created for us to understand one another not to make us more classy or as the basis of our status in life. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Having an american or british accent is not the basis of being intelligent.. . The important is as long as we can communicate with foreigners and we can still understand each other and that's enough.. confidence is one of the key if you really wanted to learn how to speak fluent in English.

    My unsolicited advice for korean students:
    1. Organize yourselves in to all English Only acting workshop;
    2. Find your most desired hollywood actor in one of your favorite film;
    3. Study the character portrayed in your selected scene;
    4. Try to imitate the character's portrayal of that scene, until you get it right on camera.
    5. Repeat until you get it right on camera.
    Chances are you'll lose your inhibition in expressing yourselves in english.
    While doing so, be enthusiastic, and try to enjoy your self in expressing in english. It's all a matter of altering your attitude. This acting workshop will raise your confidence level. Do not be afraid to make mistake. It's like learning how to sing like a pro.
    I hope this helps.

    Actually only 70% Filipinos can speak fluently in English, 90-95 percent filipinos can understand and speak basic english. US colonized Philippines for almost 50 years, we're much more influenced by them in terms of fashion, movies, and etc. Especially in language, English is 2nd most spoken language here. As early as can we need to learn English, we taught English in home or school, all subject are using English except for Filipino subject, and our alphabet is kinda similar so that it's easy for us to learn English. 😊

    When he asked how science and mathematics are taught in the Philippines I think that pretty much answered why it’s more difficult for them Koreans to learn the language, or other Asian nationalities for that matter. They study and use the English language only in their English class. In fact, they still use their local language teaching the English subject. That in itself is already problematic. Then another problem would be that, yes it is true that they come to study in the Philippines to learn the language but once they get back to their country they got no one to talk to in English so they never get to practice it unlike in Ph where a child gets to talk to his parents or friends either in Tagalog or English or when they go to school they feel obligated to use the language.

    I am amazed by how much people are triggered by the use of the word “accent”. It was present and that was the point of it being distinctive. Foreign students who also learned how to speak in English knew what an American Standard English was, hence the comparison. Look at this this way. We can also hear it when an American tries to speak in Filipino language because we know the standard on how to speak it in the first place. Let us lift each other up and encourage each other to voice an opinion.

    Do not do unto others what you want others do unto you. (Wala lang, maisingit ko lang hehe)
    Let's not mock others for their accent (this is to everyone who's looking down with the way Filipino speaks English). Let's not also make fun of their language annyeonghaseyo to "anong sayo". (Other Filipino to Korean).
    #respect

    To be honest I'm kinda bored of English, Tagalog, and Ilocano now so. I am actually currently learning 한국말 at home using 듀오링고 for reading and writing and TEUIDA for practice speaking it for fluency since I love Korea and Japan so much I made it a hobby now haha and yea I've been studying 한국말 for 10 months now and I might do Nihonngo next, anyways thanks for the wonderful video guys as always, I hope you guys make a new video now I've been waiting as a big fan of KPO TV. 🥺💖

    You can't really identify the Filipino English accent because every region here in the Philippines has a different accent. So, before you say that a certain Filipino you hear speaking in English is what a Filipino English accent sounds like, think again. But we all know one thing: we speak a neutral English accent.
