    The Rollback is the only new feature that I have some sort of enthusiasm for... More non-Gutenberg updates please!

    This is what we need in Bricks, I hope it will come soon. I know some people like Kevin Geary made this request already. Many names for that feature around, but yes, a basic template which can be used to make it your own for single instances.

      I think the security issue that Bricks experienced earlier this year has changed their release cycle and focus, and that's why components have been delayed.

    • @PicSta
      @PicSta 2 месяца назад +1

      @@WPTuts Of course, fixing security issues has higher priority compared to new features.

    Nice... WordPress core has a very long way to go before it becomes viable, but it's nice to see these features coming through in the release.

      Afreed! It's still a long way off useful for anything other than simple designs, but at least it's a step in the right direction.

    The automatic rollback feature is extremely useful, especially right now. Recently, I've had to contact plugin developers more often than ever to resolve plugin issues causing site crashes...
    We'll see how it works!

    I would love to see all videos in the future divided in two: One for those of us that use a page builder and have no interest in new features in Gutenberg and associates. However, we really like to hear about other news that can be an advantage for us :-) So please make two part so we can skip the Gutenberg etc. part. 🙂

    • @WPTuts
      @WPTuts  2 месяца назад

      I'm not sure what you mean by 'all videos divided in two.'
      Can you clarify that for me?

    • @SveinWisnaes
      @SveinWisnaes 2 месяца назад +1

      @@WPTuts Sorry that I was not precise enough.
      For anyone using one of the page builders, any news regarding Gutenberg etc. is not interesting. Every time there is a new WP version, I am looking to figure out what might be relevant for me.
      It would be nice to have any reviews clearly divided with chapter marks like Part one: Gutenberg (or whatever you want to call it - I don't care 😁) and Part Two: Non-Gutenberg.

    • @SveinWisnaes
      @SveinWisnaes 2 месяца назад

      @@WPTuts On a different note. Gutenberg is a horrible monstrosity that clearly is an attempt to come up with something that can push the pagebuilders out.
      There has been absolutely no thought given to the end users. Only devs.
      A website will always be built by someone. And then handed over to the real users. And we have to teach them to use something that can hardly be called an editor at all.
      Do a review where you compare a few tools: MS Word, LibreOffice Writer, Notepad++ and Gutenberg. Then throw in the old editor at the end with a plugin that allows you to customize it with a few extra functions that people are used to. Seriously. Do that comparison. That is the real life. It does not matter what tools we use to build a site if the end user can not easily log on and write a blogpost/news story.

    • @SveinWisnaes
      @SveinWisnaes 2 месяца назад

      @@WPTuts And while I have your attention - can you please do a review of Akeeba Backup? Probably the most underrated plugin for WP. It is completely dominant on Joomla and a really good plugin for WP.

    The Feature 1: Pattern overrides are just starting. In Bricks, we now have GutenBricks for this, and Cwicly had this as components (much more advanced, RIP). I am glad that core is integrating this into WordPress, reducing the focus on frameworks/CSS to be organizational. The component model is a strong organizational concept in itself. Combining the two maximizes its effectiveness, but for beginners and occasional users, it should be a breeze to comprehend and utilize patterns/components once configured. Image and additional options will come after the basic rollout, I am sure of it.

      7 years for negative margin. I’m sure those next level features will roll out any day now 🤣🤣🤣

      @maxziebell4013 3 месяца назад

      @@Gearyco I didn't say it's perfect, and you're making a great point. The pace has picked up a bit… fingers crossed. Yes, it's Gutenberg with all its downfalls, many of which you have rightfully pointed out. I still like the feature, especially when it is in core and can be leveraged by any block library (existing and upcoming out of the box).

    • @maxziebell4013
      @maxziebell4013 3 месяца назад

      BTW, if my mention of framework dependency was the trigger (I believe they are a valuable asset, especially leveraging the style cascade that is already built into browsers). Newer artificial abstractions like blocks, patterns and even components are a level deeper down the rabbit hole, but they all serve a similar goal: maintainability, for better or worse. Therefore, either is better than none, and both combined are even more effective. Regards!

      It's certainly an interesting feature, but I can't help but feel like the project is still all over the place. I watched some recent videos on the topic and the method of accessing and editing them has drastically changed, which boggles my brain. Gutenber, Core and FSE is such a convoluted mess, that it's no wonder so many people get frustrated and just use more cohesive alternatives.
      Will it get there? Probably!
      Will it be worth the wait? Probably not... lol

    • @maxziebell4013
      @maxziebell4013 3 месяца назад +1

      @@WPTuts Yeah, I had high hopes when Rich Tabor came on board, but the design by committee seems to be wearing down the project. The lack of clear project leads, despite having figureheads post the acquisition of Frontify and individuals like Matías Ventura, is a downside. Still hoping that this will change in the coming releases as there was a bit of an uptick …
