- Pupils from The Royal Ballet School rehearse a corps de ballet number, filmed as part of #WorldBalletDay 2017. Find out more at www.roh.org.uk
The Royal Ballet School is one of the world’s greatest centres of classical ballet training, which for generations has produced dancers and choreographers of international renown including Margot Fonteyn, Anya Linden, Kenneth MacMillan, Lynn Seymour, David Wall, Antoinette Sibley, Anthony Dowell, Marguerite Porter, Stephen Jefferies, Darcey Bussell and Jonathan Cope.
And now there’s a new generation making its mark on the world stage, all of whom trained at The Royal Ballet School - Lauren Cuthbertson, Steven McRae, Edward Watson, Christopher Wheeldon and Liam Scarlett to name a few.
Admission to the school is based purely on talent and potential, regardless of academic ability or personal circumstances and 89% of current students rely on financial support to attend the school.
The school offers an eight-year carefully structured dance course, aligned with an extensive academic programme, giving the students the best possible education to equip them for a career in the world of dance.
This woman is the perfect ballet instructor, kind and thoughtful, but also firm with the instructions. Like the definition of "constructive criticism."
Completely agree. She's wonderful.
i like reheasal videos so much because you appreciate the effort that goes into it, and you can better see all the moves, plus theres that sense that they're getting better every second because every bit of criticism is followed by 'good, better, perfect'
the corps is kinda fun to watch when they move around after sessions, it reminds me of the fantasia movie, the way they uncordinatedly pop up on their feet or do these moves as though they were strange flowers responding to the wind
Wow, such a great comparison! I hadn't thought about Fantasia in regards to this, but you're so right. I love those intermittent moments, too.
Daisy Chainsaw I completely agree I would feel like I am progressing in her class
and because they're in the face of the CAMERA.
I know its a tiny detail but I love how the teacher knows all the students personally by name
Madeline Squires You're right, although I think it's not a small detail, actually it can make a huge difference!
It’s not a small detail cause if the teacher only knows a few students names, then people might think that she has favourites
I know I am extremely late ln this but-
As she should, they pay a fortune for proper tuition the least the teacher can do is learn their names especially if she is their typical everyday teacher.
That is no tiny detail ….that is a fantastic and empowering trait❤
This teacher is just lovely. So nice but helpful!
the girl at 0:05 the one in the front to the left did yall see her arch i-
When the instructor is giving instructions and making corrections I'm always like...what mistakes? where? they were practically perfect
OMG IKR
righttt
YUP!!!!!!
Ballet is incredible like that! No matter how long you've been training, there are always a million things to work on and a million ways to improve!
mysticshinee24 maybe she doesn’t know what to teach and doesn’t know what to say lol
what a wonderful insight into how the younger dancers are rehearsing, i wish there were more videos like this, thank you !!
THEIR ARCHES OMFG
What is the name of the girl front and center? She's stunning to watch! I can't believe they're so young.
She really stood out...If anyone knows who she is please tell me!
her name is Viola, I did a few modeling shoots with her for Revolution Magazine!
Thanks, Ipskktv! She's one to watch for sure!
Viola Pantuso!
Jenica Barker OMG, thank you!!
Aww they look like a flock of pretty birds.
Rimi's arches are beautiful!
Wonderful video, beautiful dancers! I think I'll start doing these combinations at home as extra exercises
Ollivanders1876 Great Idea!
Wonderful instructor. There is so much more to ballet than I ever imagined and the focus, determination and sheer effort is to the young ladies credit.
My teacher is never this nice😂
the best teacher EVER
I love watching these kinds of videos because not only do I get to watch the beautiful young dancers, I can apply the corrections to my dancing as well!
Alea Minar same
The girl in the center is Viola Pantuso
3:30 Omg Viola! She came such a long way and is a part of the Company!❤
how did Maisie Williams have time to do this and game of thrones
💀
She is such a good ballet teacher. She gives good correction and is so nice!
The coach cracks me up...but, phenomenal! "The scratch" is absolutely priceless. Bravo.
The way Viola dances (front, centre) reminds me a little of Anna Rose O’Sullivan.
Really beautiful! And I love the way she says echappé
And Btw, They all kinda look like each other haha
Hallihallå xx I know! Haha ashappay
So sad we couldn’t hear their talk on the RBS style..
These young ladies are so wonderfully talented :) thanks for sharing this video
i wish i could dance like that
0:12 the coach said “I don’t want to hear any sound as you plie” but they make the sound even more louder whaaaaa?
They go from doing echappes which are from two feet down to two feet, to doing passé relieves which are from one leg. You have to lower the leg, it’s hard to make it quiet.
What's the name of the ballet instructor? Would love to search more videos of her teaching / dancing when she used to dance!
The instructor is Belinda Hatley, who used to be a Royal Ballet soloist.
Ballet is so fascinating and entertaining to watch!
Wonderful ! Too short. How old are they ?
luganskaia I'd guess 14 to 16
year 10
They always look younger as they actually are. So to be honest the reason is because they eat less then others,so they stay skinny. And that’s why they look so young, but probably about 16
Cara Deli as a ballet dancer myself, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do if we didn’t eat simple as. it’s like trying to i don’t know running a marathon and not drinking or eating before hand, you would be weak. if anything we probably eat more then the average person but we just burn it all off through dancing for 2-6 hours a day
They are in their final year of the lower school so between 14-15 💛
This is so great! I miss dancing ballet! I´ve danced for about 3-4 years and I had to quit due to starting university which is far away from my old dance school and here I can´t find a proper ballet course for my age and ability.
OfficialRebekka where's your uni?
Rowan Gallagher in Germany
I finally found a ballet school :-)
Wow. I couldn’t stop watching the girl in the front center because she has that spirit that not many people possess
she's in the company now!
@@clemmiemayhew456 do you know her name? Saw her in a rehearsal and would love to look for her in more things
@@xseverusxxsnapex Yeah, Viola Pantuso, she's brilliant
lol went to school with front middle
Where can I watch these girls in actual performance They’re amazing to watch.
They are students so unless it's a situation where they are cast in something with RB in children's parts you can't.
I feel so satisfied when I see those ballet rehearsals for some reason...
Edit : i noticed that most of the comments are talking about that girl on the left
Their hyper extension kills me
What is the name of the songs?
crazy to watch knowing viola and ava are apart of the company now
They are so graceful but my body feels tense
how old are these girls? they are so good! I love ballet and they seem like great models for training!
CB Peter 14-15
Here I am looking for errors in the executions that the instructor is correcting. 😂😂😂
I think that the one in the middle is really good.... but the others are too! Way beyond my level..
this makes me depressed to be fifteen and *finally* getting my first pointe shoes
It probably means that your transition onto pointe will be easier because your feet are more developed and stronger than at ages 9-11 !
I originally started ballet at 3yro but had to stop when I was 9 nearly 10 due to financial reasons. I’m now 21 taking beginner classes - it’s never too late!
How lovely!
who is the girl in the middle omg she is amazing!
Viola Pantuso, she's a member of the company now!
これは小説に出てくるロイヤルバレエスクールの中等部…?
I loved the teacher's accent. Absolute British! Royal and elegant.
I also loved her attitude to the young ballerinas. No frustration, no anger, no much criticism. She is always kind, positive and helpful. As a result, these young ladies look happy with their work. So, it would not be a surprise to see one of them as prima ballerina, soon.
Haja tríceps sural pra fazer isso por tanto tempo 👏👏👏👏😍
How many peoples can have the audition?
ImGray's question was what is the name of the music? Can anyone answer? I really enjoy it but have no idea what's that sound. Please, please :-)
How old are they? They are amazing❤️
probably 12-15. The girl in the front center is 14
They are 14 and 15
So beautiful! I love it!
In which year group are these girls? When I watched this live I understood they were second year upper school but a previous comment says they're 14-15 which would make them year 10.
Billy Elliot brought me here
Riminakano!!!
Rimi's so great😍👌
At least 3 of these ladies are now in the Royal ballet corps!
Please what is the name of the first piece of music?
What is the name of the girl on the left side of the screen front row?
Stella K. She is Rimi Kaneko from Japan!
Haruka Thanks for the answer.
The girl next to her is so much better than her why are everyone talking about her?
1:15 sounds like my favourite things
These girls are the dancing examples of elegance.
How old are they they're amazing 😃
How old are they? And how long are they dancing?
Elli Spierelli I guess they are 16-17. Propaply have dance minimum of 5-6 years but some maybe even 10.
They are about 14-16 most of them with about 7 years of dancing experience or more.
They’re 14-17 and have dance 6-10 years
14 and 15yo ( nobody is 16 in this video )
There 14 and 15 I think most of them are year 10 and 11 I've danced with some of them but I think most are year 11 now
7th love this x
I really want to take ballet but i dont know how to ask my mom and im afraid im too old 😥
You could tell you mum all ballet benefits and try to convince her. Say it's an amazing way to exercise and a great opportunity to learn more about yourself. Don't be afraid of trying. Ballet is really worth it!
Kisses from Brazil 🇧🇷😘
You're never too old! Loads of people start later and they all get along just fine
Edit: also good luck!
Can you do a video how to train for 10 year old audition because I have an audition in royal ballet online cause of the coronavirus
前列向かって左端の子の名前が知りたい!
nakano rimi さんです✨とても綺麗ですよね✨
Commentary is very unneeded.
Lovely dancing!
I'm tired... and I'm sitting on the couch. So impressive.

Does anyone know who that girl Ella is? I recognize her face and I thought it was her but I’m not sure.
Can't remember Ella's surname but she's a student at the Berlin Staatsballet
Arabesqe hands perfectly
Incredible but how old are the girls? ❤️
First
What is the first song they're dancing to!? I know the last one at the 13 min. mark is the czardas from Coppelia, but what's the one around 9 minutes?
modelgado schubert’s scherzo no. 1
Are these dancers professional dancers? Or are they students? If they are a Student how old are they?
I'm not sure, back in 2017 when this was filmed they were students at the Royal ballet school, depending on their age I would assume they are in a company by now or in their last year of the school preparing to hopefully get into a professional company. Typically students have a set uniform to wear while professional ballet dancers can where what they want.
The girl front centre just joined the royal ballet company
How old are these amazing dancers?
대개 저런 선생님을 뭐라 부르나요?
발레 마스터리스?
클래스 티쳐?
How old are they?
Front row, right side looks like her shoes are dying
absolutely beautiful! super jealous
Really good instructor
Ωραία κοστούμια
That girl front right her right pointe shoe scares me
Bee Cee oh my gosh!!!! It’s crazy dead... 😱
I miss dance so much...
This girls stunning!!
Vielen Dank
this is very helpful ♥
and they're lovely to watch!
These girls have more flexible arches than the actual royal ballet corps
I'm so delighted by this video but I'm also sad. These girls dance BEAUTIFULLY and they have amazing technique, while I'm here, 12, still trying to get my feet up to my ear. I'll never accomplish as much as them. Maybe get on pointe but not like that... great. I started at 5 but quit after 2 years then returned again at 11 but even though I practice everyday and do classes 3 times a week, I still am horrible at ballet. lol. Also that girl in the front row center and to the left both are amazing dancers!!
Don't be so hard on yourself! You have a chance to go as far as you would like in ballet. I believe in you. If you keep working hard and trying, if you truly want to you can be a professional. Misty Copeland started ballet at 13 and she's a world famous Principal Dancer. Never give up and you can get there!
I have played many sports and have danced for many years and nothing is as precise as the ballet art form
What’s the name of that teacher?
Belinda Hatley - she used to be a soloist in the company
Tobias Jones thank you!!
Beautiful...why does the teacher call them LADIES.....? I kind of find that funny....
i went to a girls' school in london and did ballet during that time and all my teachers would call the group 'ladies' haha... i think it's just a respect thing - respect for the students means respect for the teacher haha
Iris Mathieson it's just really wierd to call kids ladies , hahha.Maybe in the ballet world it's accepted.
I've always been called "ladies" by my ballet teachers, it's pretty much normal now lol
I went to a studio in New York for 14 years and all my instructors would always call us “ladies.” It was the kind of thing where we show them respect by taking their advice, calling them “ma’am,” and trying our best and they give us respect in return. :)
byambarebyambare I feel like it’s a very British thing as well in general, bc I go to an all girls school and they refer to us as ladies in class, and if there are boys present then they say ladies and gentlemen, idk I’m used to it I guess so I don’t find it that weird
Left side girl 3:37 who is it?
kim _minjae _sophia kim tge girl next to her is so much better than her
