    Great discussion. Bhagavata Jnan is a really interesting topic and I would like to learn more about it, so it was super interesting hearing Sri Rama Ramanuja Achari discuss it. The comparison between Vadakalai emphasis and Tengalai emphasis in the pancaratra agama is really interesting as well. I love hearing the historical and comparative analyses on these topics. Something which I find lacking on other online platforms which don't get into the Vaishnava Agamas so much.

    a little bit of extra note on the sri vaishnava practice of vishnu murti worship: parallel to pancharatra agama is Vaikhanasa Agama, derived from krishna yajurveda (taittiriya samhita). vaikhanasas are the historic priests at tirupati and are not pancharatra. there are some theories that vaikhanasa are very early brahmins who adopted non-temple vishnu idol worship and secluded themselves in forests. they could have very well been the inspirers of the scant vishnu references in the oldest parts of the rigveda.
    just wanted to specify that vishnu idol worship is not only mentioned in the pancharatra agama and sri vaishnava draw from another tradition.
    the "preparation for death" thing is a great point. what is life but a preparation for death

    This question may be too broad, but...
    Is there any connection between Pancaratra, Tantrism and Gaudiya Vaishnava?

    • @merumedia4249
      @merumedia4249  2 года назад +3

      Well Pancaratra is a form of Tantra and Agama and the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition uses Pancaratra as a basis for a lot of their philosophy and ritual practices

      @@merumedia4249 Interesting. I was stuck by the idea that Caitanya is a double incarnation of Krishna and Radha, reminds me of the idea that Shiva and Shakti unites in the body of the Tantric yogi.

      A person who converted to Sri Vaishnavism was discussing with me this topic, about Pancaratra Agama and the ISKCON practice. He explained that ISKCON devotees do a simplified version of pancaratra agama, and that one ISKCON devotee was instructed by Prabhupad to go learn Pancaratra Agama from a Sri Vaishnava Puja teacher. He also told me that his partner who is a Sri Vaishnava was a male pujari for Malaysia ISKCON. So I guess the knowledge from Pancaratra is transferable to Gaudiya.
