In the opening theme, if you slow down to 0.25x speed and listen carefully, you'll hear that the left hand is playing its triplets evenly -- for a correct 3 vs 4 LH vs RH pattern. This is almost non-existent in performance of this piece, even in all the famous recordings. The only other pianist that I've found who doesn't cheat (partially aligning the triplets with the right-hand sixteenth notes to make playing easier), and plays the left hand triplets evenly as Chopin intended, is Evgeny Kissin, and I've listened to many of the most famous recordings including Rubenstin, Howowitz, and Shishkin. Pretty amazing feat, and as a child too. Her father was a percussionist and apparently didn't tolerate incorrect rhythms when she practiced at home --this was probably a great influence on her.
A child prodigy is defined in psychology research literature as a person under the age of ten who produces meaningful output in some domain to the level of an adult expert this is from Wiki so yes she is a child prodigy!
A wunderkind, but not only that, as the follow up of her career has proven. She was a virtuoso & a sensitive one already. What a marvel Yuja Wang was ~ & is! We are so fortunate to live in her time!
My tears dropped when I was listening to this. What an excellent performance! She was a true genius, born for piano! And now, she becomes a virtuoso pianist!
@@tonyc1938 so many things have changed since that comment 😁 I am way better now , I am studying for my diploma with a very very good teacher now and he really helped me understand music and build a better technique. I used to have a teacher since I was a child that she wasn't good and now I am very lucky and happy with my new teacher. He even got me to play symphony no.3 by Saint saens (that part with 4 hands) with him and athens state orchestra at Greece's biggest concert hall. This was my first official job as a musician. 😀 Thank you for asking!!
She is probably my favorite classical pianist of all time. Kudos to her for bringing this top-notch quality playing and contributing cultural legacy of these great composers. Yuja Wang is an iconic musician who has an incredible rhythmic sensitivity for playing magnificently especially great Russian composers’ music and feeling in her playing and people who say the opposite are simply haters. Big respect and love to her! Greetings from Turkey.
An Incredible feel for the music then; a sweet child, who became a sweet woman, just getting/got better as a supremely gifted artist, yet who retained a child-like wonder in her music, in joy, in the world, in humanity. We who appreciate her are so blessed. ❤️❤️❤️
As I have just written about her Debussy, aged 9, it is a piano equivalent of Amira Willighahen all over again. No matter what else RUclips will be remembered for it will be above all for making these two musical geniuses available for the whole world to see and hear throughout their careers. We really don't know how lucky we are.
Oh Anton, believe me, I DO know how lucky I/we are. I am privileged to be transported to a special place by not just Yuja, but other wonderful talents, to bring out the magic of our great composers. And discount the "Taliban" tendency rife, alas, in these columns. :-( Yuja is amazing as a human being.
She is like the musical equivalent of a young Dakota Fanning -- a gifted soul well beyond her years, with an uncanny sensitivity toward her craft. One can tell that, even then, she "felt" the music -- a rarity in one so young! Is it any wonder she is today's shining💫?
How did 60 people dislike it? This piece of music is polyrhythmic, that is: is it technically difficult even for adult and experienced pianists? Wanted to see her dancing 'funk'?
❤wow amazing playing for one so very young, l know from my own personal experience just how hard it is to be able to play so beautifully definitely a child prodigy ❤❤❤🎉
Hats off to this rare talent!! No wonder she is a super star today!!

Wow, didn’t notice, that’s impressive!!!
play it at x2 speed for a rush
She had to be considered a child prodigy; at 9-years-old she was already a virtuoso. Now, she is beyond amazing.
^..^~~
virtuoso when she wrote the song ..
She began studying piano when she was -- SIX!

Jorge Luis Ochoa What song? This is no song. It is a fantasie.

She should be a household name. What an amazing musician.
My tears dropped when I was listening to this. What an excellent performance! She was a true genius, born for piano! And now, she becomes a virtuoso pianist!
I played that piece this year and I am 16 and she plays it so much better than me *crying*
She is so talented I am a big fan of Yuj
I am 15 and I am not even at the level to play Chopin yet, still consider myself intermediate at piano

Kekw im 26 and i cant play at least 1/10 her
Well, it’s a very difficult piece! Just keep practicing.
Yujua was so fast-handed, her fingers told you clearly every note... She was such a young-talent.

What a gifted pianist! I just found her and already love her.
Such a clean virtousity. Can't believed she was able to execute this difficult piece at this young age.
As I have just written about her Debussy, aged 9, it is a piano equivalent of Amira Willighahen all over again. absolutely marvellous-- a genius -- she makes music breathe --
Such a wonderful musician since so early age!!!
Wow, just wow. Rare to see child prodigies have such deep technical understanding of a piece in addition to merely being able to play it.
a prodigy. mature interpretation. Genius at work.
Just fabulous for one so young. The signs of her future greatness are beginning to emerge, how wonderful.
What a combination of fluency of the B section and fluidity of the opening technical challenges.
Beautiful, wonderful, watched her performance in SFO Davis hall too. A great musician!!
Cue the haters flocking in, when she was like 12 playing at that level...
Let the haters hate and the lovers I love. I love Yuja Wang...
@Karolina Korpyta I feel like she is in level 10000000000000000000000000
@Alexandre Claudio who cares if she is 11 she plays better than you at 9 now that you are 50
NAH SHE WAS 9 APPARENTLY GOODBYE OH MY GOD
A beautifully nuanced performance, masterful for a child this young, I'd say.
Incredible Yuja, my favourite pianist. Listen to Chopin's Ballade 1 by her & Rhapsody in blue. Also Concerto 2 by Rachmaninoff.
Stunning. Absolute brilliance.

...she got me! Tears flowed...fuck the 'critics'
😭great even in such a young age!
Genius with 12 - unbelievable.

YUJA WANG (1997, age 10) playing Chopin op 66 FANTASIE IMPROMPTU
Beautiful
That's yuja for you, if she's not playing an ultra-hard rendition, she's already played it when she's not even an adult.

Beautiful Yuja

They thought they had a career before watching this video.
There are uneducated twerps EVERYWHERE!
Playing with no music sheet, her memory is exceptional. I would not pay attention to critics and losers.
Un genio, directamente, sin discusión.
wow !!!!
Absolute magic..yes.What can one say..
Super-excellent
Uallllll. Sensacional!
❤wow amazing playing for one so very young, l know from my own personal experience just how hard it is to be able to play so beautifully definitely a child prodigy ❤❤❤🎉
I finally know the title of this piece when im 40 years old....dang

Maravilhosa
Prodigiosa bimba!!!!
No doubt some would be hugely critical of an 8 year old's playing but I won't. Very good.
She is charm!!
The days when she wore a tad more!!! Fabulous playing of course!!
❤❤❤❤
wow is good
wow...
Intense ending….nice!!
good
I want to be like her when i get older💓
She was 12 years old.
Are you related to her?
Seeing her made me remember why I hated practicing and going to piano recitals so much.
🙏🏽💥👍🏽
how on earth can a 12 y/o girl play such a difficult piece like that?
There someone at 5 playing that lol search it on youtube
the only limitation to her skill as a child was the size of her hands.

Impressive! Since people are commenting on her age, check out Kissin playing Chopin's 1st piano concerto when he was 12.

both great and talented, no need to compare who is younger and who is better.
the hands of piano...

I like her
yuja wang, what else?
i just found out that my piano teacher actually taught her when she was little
For unto us a child is born

Schubert, Gretchen am Spinnrade, D118. Gluck, the opera Orfeo ed Eurydice.
Really great performance, but Yundi Li is the very best playing this composition
