    Man that really reminded me of my maiden flight of the Sky Trainer. Flies nice. Nice job flying it. Yes those flaps are needed for landing. Keep up the good work John and I am loving these trainer videos.

    I owned that plane and I loved it ❤. It's a great plane. I installed my flight controller in the cockpit behind the seats by popping out the rear window and gluing it back in later. I ran a Spektrum AR630 with AS3X and Safe. I regret selling it and I've been trying to get a good deal on another one!

    Nice flight. I use about 10% and 30% down elevator mix with mid and full flaps. That should stop the ballooning.

    This plane is very good looking very detailed, It flies good. And for some of us, it has some sentimental value.

    @robc5296 Год назад +1

    Scale look/ accuracy of this one is off the charts; outstanding. With that, is does take some practice/adjustments to grease the landings. Looks like a small pitch margin to set mains down 1st to avoid a tail strike or nose wheel strike - if that makes any sense. For an Instructor at my club, it took him some time to dial in the correct flap/ elevator mixes for both flap positions. It made a big difference for him. 👍

      This is a plane it would be worth the effort to tune. I'm sure it will land just beautifully with a little practice and maybe a little cheating on the radio.

      @@RCVideoReviews ok, entiendo perfectamente.
      También me pasa que salta la alarma de telemetría perdida y aún sigo teniendo control del avión, eso me preocupa pues no sé si el avión pueda desconectarse del transmisor en cualquier momento. Estoy utilizando 3 receptores. Un Flysky ia-6b, un OrangeRX 620x V2 con una antena satélite y es compatible con DSMX y DSM2, y un spektrum ar93100 carbon fuselage con dos antenas satélite y compatible con DSMX.
      El test de rango sale sin problemas salvo esa alarma molesta pero inquietante, ahhhh, dato importante que nosostros volamos nuestros aviones RC en la pista de un aeropuerto abandonado y lejos de la cuidad donde no hay nada de interferencias.

    I’m curious to know, what qualifies as a beginner?

    • @RCVideoReviews
      @RCVideoReviews  Год назад +1

      That is a very good question. My characterization of a beginner plane would be a high wing model with some form of self-stabilization (dihedral). When these planes are setup correctly, they should try and fly straight and level if you leave the sticks alone. Also, while approaching minimum controllable airspeed, the controls will remain effective. Compared to say a 3D plane which will [mostly] hold a line when the sticks are neutral and jets/wings which require some momentum for the controls to be effective.

    • @Papa_Shorty
      @Papa_Shorty Год назад

      @@RCVideoReviews thank you so much for the clear and concise answer. Although I have many other questions, I’ll and see what I can learn from this series.
      It would be tragic to win a plane only to destroy it on the maiden flight.

    • @RCVideoReviews

    I’ve owned this plane for two years and have not taken it out of the box other to look things over….. it seems there is so much to know about flying I’m so intimidated about the whole thing…. Don’t know how to start even after watching all hour videos ……. Ugh!

    • @RCVideoReviews
      @RCVideoReviews  Год назад

      I would start with a flight simulator. If you go to the FMS website, they sell an SM600 for $49 and they provide a download link for the abandoned PhoenixRC simulator which you can download for free. Spend some time in the simulator getting your thumbs wired to the brain. Once you can fly around, the next step is to head to an AMA field and ask for flight instructor help.
