We Smashed a Really Expensive 18-inch Wheel! Finnegan's Garage Ep.81

- This episode is going live the same weekend that I'll be racing Blasphemi in Las Vegas at the Dodge-Pennzoil Nats NHRA race. So if you see this cmon out November 1-2nd to see if we can make some 8 second 1/4 mile passes in this radical stick-shift Gasser street car. Can't make it out? Well then check out this update on my wife's 1969 Chevrolet El Camino, a car that we've recently restored and then failed to travel very far in.
The last time we went on a date in the Elco we actually ran over a massive piece of concrete that was lying in the road and it popped the Falken Azenis tire and smashed the Forgeline 18 inch wheel. This video has the backstory on that adventure and it also features a question and answer session with myself, 12-Volt Dave, and Cotten from inside my garage. It's pretty enlightening and funny.
The three of will be in Vegas the first week of November 2019 for the annual SEMA Show at the convention center and we'll upload vids about our trip so watch for those.

if they were by a fence this would be a scene in king of the hill .
Anthony Efx add Cleetus and his mullet and you've got a damn RUclips channel 😂.
whom is whom?
Adam Gardner all 4 are Boomhauer
Adam Gardner Dave is Dale, Cotton I think is Boomhauer but maybe also Khan and Mike is Hank.
I can hear the King of the Hill music playin now .
"Women in heels driving stick" might be the most car guy fetish out there.
Only in a country where "driving stick" is an achievement.
Here in Europe we just call it driving.
@Robert King who said it was an achievement? (apart from theLaXandro above).
...most new cars in Europe are still "stick", or manual transmission as it is called over here.
This is why the phenomenon "driving stick" is not a thing here. We just call it driving.
My wife is allergic to automatics for instance and refuse to drive them.
Driving a manual transmission is not an achievement. Only driving automatics is underachieving.
@Robert King
No I did not. Read again.
Having a woman who can "drive stick" can only be a fetish where it's considered an achievement (i.e. America). In Europe they are not special since all women drive manual transmissions here.
She's obviously not allergic in the literal sense but in the sense that she can't stand them. That was fairly obvious tbh.
@@JohannesKonow Driving stick by itself is not an achievement, but driving stick in high-heels very much is.
@Robert King that sentence does not in any way imply that I think it is an achievement. I am simply pointing out that the above only holds true in a country where its considered an achievement (North America).
This is my favorite car channel on RUclips. Just because its literally just a group of friends helping each other. Really wholesome content.
"wedges, heels... it's hot whatever it is"
us guys in a nutshell.
Damn I like pretty feet! I like the video already :-). I'm subscribing...
I was just thinking... Aren't wedges just a specific type of heels, just like slingbacks?
Pretty much. Happy, hot wife = winning.
" It's towed in ".... Or Mommy has been throwing that shit into some corners regularly

@@FinnegansGarage sorry Mike... I think that the cars jealous of your wife it it's her grandpas spirit is making sure that you that you don't put your grubby hands on her granddaughter!

Great video. Thanks for making us all a part of your garage bull session. I loved your leaving your wife’s comments in at the end. Every one of us can relate....
Need to name the El'Camino "The father in law"! It doesnt want you touching his daughter! Lol

Great episode Mike, the banter between you, Dave and Mikey is so genuine, it's always entertaining and educational of course, to watch you guys together..... 😆👍🏻
Kool! Got the wife on the video! Right on Mike! Great answers to the questions. Good to see you relaxed, smiling, and laughing! All of you! Made my day Mike!
You guys are the best. I watch every episode and can’t get enough. Don’t change a thing.
I'm not a paint n body guy.
But I love mechanical engineering. Motors, trans, rear ends or Heavy Equipment. (Look up p51 Precious metal)
That said.
The paint in body of Finnegan's race boat. It does something for me. It's like CLASSIC ART on water. And poetry in motion.
Thank you for building it.
Even if you built it for yourself.
I believe it needs to be made into a poster so I can mount it in my living room.
Love the show.
Finnegan, Thanks for all the suspension info and everything else you did to it. Giving me inspiration to get my 70 Elco back on the road and I like the stance of your wife's Elco!
Nothing beats good buddies like those guys!!!
Thanks for the Video.....What incredible luck that the only thing that got damaged was the wheel When my Wife hit a curb in her 07 Mustang GT, the only thing that didn't get destroyed was the Factory 18" wheel. It already had Curb Rash, but it didn't bend. It cost her almost $2500 to replace all the damaged suspension parts. Glad you and your Wife were ok.
My god I laughed hard! The q&a is great. Heels, wedges, whatever… well said sir.
Props to your WIFE for hitting the cement with the right tire instead of the oil pan....yup, she rocks!
...remember Fun, happy wife, happy life..!
PROPS.....!!!!

Good to see you guys just hanging out! Need to do more stuff, I'd love to see more on the C/10 build.
We forgot about this channel. RUclips didn't suggested it for a while now. I ride around thinking about past episodes but life gets too busy and .....and....and.......I won't let it happen again. Keep up the good fun!
One word for you- Quickjack. When not in use, you can stash it to the side or underneath a car. It’s made doing everything in my garage home garage 90% easier.
You guys need to put together an Autocross or Dragracing event and call it "The Battle of the Wives".
I'll bet the ladies have a blast.
Her grandfather keeps breaking the car so you two have awesome memories and extra time together every time you go out in it.
Finally another ep of my 2nd favorite car channel
joel ginbey what a backhanded compliment lmao
@@shane8911 well I'm from western Australia u know where finigan and David went to barbagallo Safeway I'm Perth that's where I live and cause I'm aussie I like MCM better mainly cause there aussie and they go to my second favorite country Japan soo🤷♂️
Thanks guys. Last bit was the best. ( Good Luck to you and your better half onthe next El Camino Date.
RIP Roadkill! People said the older episodes are free to watch, but I checked again and they are all locked. None of the other shows interest me, so it isn't worth paying for a subscription for a show that really started to suck right before they took it off youtube. I'm glad to see another video from Finnegan's garage........hopefully we see them more often. At least Cletus is killing it on youtube, so I will get my fix over there in between FG episodes.
i'm impressed by the way that storage gate opened...never seen that before...
My wife and I when we first got married had the same set of problems. Only ours was fuel pump, hole in the gas tank, run out of gas, the car just quit among others. All in all, it was fun, great but glad it stopped.
Dukes of Hazzard freeze frame finish was cool : ]
At least you have your own tow truck just that close. Wow. I'm laughing hard.
Minus the "gas in the armpit" episode... this is my favorite. Was awesome watching you guys BSing and answering questions sitting around the custom footstool 😁
Q&A section of the video was fantastic. You can really tell you guys are good friends and it was great to watch!
6:27 You know it’s a sketchy bodge when one part of the Roadkill masters themselves is even a little taken back! Lol!
Beer drinking time! that's a good send off.

Your a good man and even better family man! Wow old Murphy like that truck...lol!
OMG you have a Yamaha Super Jet. thank goodness we are are not couch sitters. stand up and RIDE. God Bless. Bry
Nothin better than good friends. Awsome video
Hey Finnegan: I just did you a big favor and called the number on the side of your garbage container and told them you had a bunch of junk cars indoors and out, a boat and a lot of scrap metal that needed to be recycled. If you were not home, just load up all they could, haul it off and keep coming back until they were done! I went on to explain that weekends and evenings were fine just so they got there ASAP! Your neighbors baked me a cake and gave me season tickets for the Braves 2020!
@Finnegan's Garage
Have a chat to the MCM guys about their quick lift. Portable belly lift. Slide each side under the car, connect the lines and lift her up. No need to mount to the floor so it's perfect for your shop.
Nice. 3 guys having a great time. Wanna join the party. Glad the ElCo is fine. Thanks guys.
The wife: I didn't sign my rights away so this can't be published.
Finn: Oops
+1 on the Race Ramps endorsement. They are surprisingly amazing little pieces of kit. Not to mention, they make extensions for them if you have a particularly low car.
That's fricken awesome! I work at a Harbor Freight and Finnegan just endorsed our Daytona jacks
Great episode. The Q&A is really awesome.
One rainy day, I took the wife's Altima to work to change the oil and serp belt... She drove my ranger to her job, running late as usual, she gasses it too much around the corner, spins out and hits the curb. Tacoed my rim and radius arm then she drove it the rest of the way to work! Then home!
EVERY JACK FROM H/F:
Take all wheels off, grease EVERYTHING, put all back on. Medium locktight on adjusters for swivel casters.
And don't forget to top off the fluid.
On the plus side......at least it’s just the outer hoop. Pretty easy and not overly expensive to replace one of those.
Oh Finnegan, thanks for bringing back the memory's 😂😂😂 a late best friend of mine did that same thing with a grinder, but he was standing right in front of me back in the day in high school shop, how however in this case I was there to help beat out the flames, but his fire was a bit lower on his T-shirt, so... I wasn't just beating out the flames 😂😂😂 I was repeated slapping him in the nuts! 😂😂😂 more pain than being on fire.
Hi, I'm 6' 7" and I have always had the same problem. I have a friend who put a lift in and it was like every one I've worked on it's to short. He came up with the idea of using office chairs on his very smooth floor. It works Great!
I would have two hidden tracking devices on that beautiful car. It is such an awesome heirloom, I'd worry about it getting jacked all the time.
love the Q&A dude.....u should do it more often !!!!!
Daniel Lanciotti so true!!
Daniel Lanciotti we will!
I love these episodes guys.. keep up the awesome content!!
The end of this video is the best episode to date!
13:33 "did you just make up a word?" LOL almost spit out my lunch
I can relate...I quit eating or drinking while watching Finnegan's videos... right after doing so cost me a keyboard!

Finnegan your editing is getting so much better really glad I can hear you guys without blasting my speakers
I said this last time, but I'll say it again. Cotton episodes ARE THE BEST 😂
Obviously Mrs F is bad luck but happy to know neither you two or the elco was hurt.
Matt Foley!!!! F'kin ace skit dude!! But seriously, good luck with the El Co on the next date... it will come good in the end... trust me! Cheers. Leigh in super wet Scotland.
Just an outsider's point of view... mike is clean and enjoying a cold brew, living the dream... everyone else looks like they got rolled in a parking lot.
You can now seriously impress us by straightening that bent wheel and welding the cracks.
By the ways - What's the same side back wheel like? It can't have missed that rock.
Hey fin you should look into getting some spray foam insulation for that garage. It would help keep your house upstairs warm/cooler and get rid of that unsightly insulation. Also will help when your filming keeping sound down. Can’t wait to see the turbo boat running
Cars, keeping couples occupied since the late 1885. love it.
Those ramps came from the tow industry, use them on lowered cars to get them on the rollback wtith out tearing up the front end . So you could most likely find the ramps cheaper if you look in different circles.
You need to do the freeze frame at the end more often, with a smooth southern narrator talking about how you got in deep.
EFormance Engineering rabbit
They don't make them like they use to...EVERYTHING
Scissor lifts and low rise post lifts like maxxjack move around, so they are not sitting in your way when you're not using them, just wheel them against a wall or whatever.
Thanks for posting my question about the big block swap , I know it was a ridiculous question but I had to ask lol, never know it could be faster with a Chevy engine 😁
Been missing yall’s videos, crank em out more often please! Enjoy em.
Even tho its a Yamaha. I commend you for have a standup jetski in your life. I have three kawaskai ones and its just as much of an addiction like hotrods are 👍

@@adamr9215 shit in need one too #metoo
I can't wait to see cottons C10 back out! I remember seeing pics of that truck back in the day, I think I even have that mag!
Great episode boys!
Spot on with the lift (Hoist) height,.. when you're constantly crouched or tilting the head over, it's a pain in the neck, and back, and legs, and arms,...
What Cotton means is called 'chattering', where the tyre surface grips/releases/grips/releases in a repeated cycle as it drags the sidewall sideways until it looses grip.
Expect it to be more then just the Toe being out, as it's showing wear on the outside edge, not the whole surface - if it was only the Toe, the wear would be across the surface, but with the Toe and the wrong offset, the scrub angle could be out, or it not enough negative camber it eats the outside edge of the tyre more during cornering.
one of the best videos yet reminds me of my old buddies just chillin out the shop I miss those days
Have to admit it I like the old school rally rims better. But your updated snowflake style is cool.
Love the old Elcaminos for sure...so ya can't go wrong with that in my book.
Dude, you won the lottery when you found your wife. She should make more cameo appearances that one was hilarious I haven't laughed that hard in a long time.
you guys rock mate happy weekend!
Haha the end was perfect
I'm Really enjoying your channel, reminds me of hanging out with my uncle's as a kid building cars. 😁
Oh yeah, heah Fin please don't use those plated sockets with the air gun anymore, the plating cracks and flares out,(think of a spinning razor blade I've seen it happen and don't want it to happen to you)
I know I can smack that like button right at the beginning of any of your videos.....sux about the wheel
Marty Handley thanks bud!
How cool would it be if your grandkids find this RUclips channel years down the line.
Love the sitting around bs ing and answering questions do more of that when you can. also let your wife know if she's in the shop it's fair game. Also would love a photo shoot of the quirks and features of the c50 ramp truck cause for some reason i think i need one like it.
I would be incredibly stoked meet you Mr. Finnegan. In my book your always welcome in Iowa.
Need to take it to shop with either Hunter or John Bean/FMC/Snap On alignment machine, make sure they do caster sweep to measure SAI and IA and then input appropriate number or specs check. SAI and IA numbers against caster/camber. This will show if anything is bent.
If you want a scissors lift that doesn't get in the way when it isn't being used, you can get a set that just rolls around. Mighty Car Mods uses a set like that a lot, you might check where they got theirs.
Drag Week was a blast! It was really intense, but fun to help fix Blasphemi on Day 4. Have fun in Vegas!
Well, you both looked real good in it when it was driving!
I like watching Finnegan’s Garage. I hear him and think I’m listening to my uncle.
Ghost of grandpa not approving lol
Cant believe this camino is so troublesome
The El Camino version of Christine.
"That's why we never want nice things especially when there pretty because then they will always break at the worst of times because roadkill,"
Now we know why he has so many ramp trucks... Tough luck buddy.
Your both safe nobody hurt she kept it iff the paint .....its a win for a loss
The wheels on your boat trailer are nicer than anything I've had on my vehicles lol
Heck ya man love the channel I watch every episode!!
Houston Kilby Thanks for watching!
its a great channel. awesome guys and fun projects..
Lol you guys rock love the comments from wifey at the end
dig the shop Q&A...we need more of this.
The best 3 Stooges in modern history! 🤣
I'm so happy they're almost done building the Harbor Freight in my town of Kerrville TX. I can kiss my paycheck good bye after it opens because I never not need anything from there.
they did the entire front install on hot rod garage years ago and they even took it out on a road course to test it after they did the work way back when him and Freiburger did the show
I had a similar dent in my rim. stopped, open the trunk, get the jack, dig up the full size spare and in less than 15 min I was on my way again.😎
Anytime you frame a car photo, there's absolutely a good story behind it.
The right hand front tyre (sorry Tire) will wear the shoulder more, because you guys go around left hand corners at faster speeds. We have the same, but opposite problem Downunder in Australia. Our LHF corner suffers more.
