Debate was good. Both representatives made sense. Mam was more convincing because I think she has practice of answering these questions from patients. People going for mixed diet don’t ask or think morality and human evolution that much. I think once a month little bit meat could be ok if we are trying to become vegetarian to avoid complete relapses. And portion of meat should be less along with more veggies

कहते हैं कि जैसा खाओगे अन्न वैसा बनेगा मन। जैसे होगा मन वैसे होगा विचार और भाव। जैसा होगा विचार और भाव वैसा ही होगा आपका व्यवहार और भविष्य। इसीलिए हिन्दू धर्म में भोजन के तीन प्रकार बताए गए हैं। सात्विक भोजन, राजसिक भोजन और तामसिक भोजन। यहां संक्षिप्त में इन तीनों के परिणाम की जानकारी। 1.सात्विक भोजन : ताजा शुद्ध शाकाहारी और उत्तम भोजन को सात्विक भोजन कहते हैं। इस भोजन में लहसुन, प्याज, बैंगन और कटहल जैसी उत्तेजना बढ़ाने वाली सामग्री का उपयोग कम ही किया जाता है। क्योंकि कई ऐसा शाकाहारी भोजन भी है जो राजसिक और तामसिक भोजन के अंतर्गत आते हैं। दूध, दही, घी, मक्खन, शहद, शहतूत, हरी पत्तेदार सब्जियां, नारियल, मिश्री, खीर, पंचाम्रत, भात आदि सात्विक भोजन के अंतर्गत आते हैं। यह भोजन रसयुक्त, हल्की चिकनाईयुक्त और पौष्टिक होना चाहिए। इसमें अन्ना, दूध, मक्खन, घी, मट्ठा, दही, हरी-पत्तेदार सब्जियां, फल-मेवा आदि शामिल हैं। इन्हीं के साथ नींबू, नारंगी और मिश्री का शरबत, लस्सी जैसे तरल पदार्थ बहुत लाभप्रद हैं। परिणाम : सात्विक भोजन शीघ्र पचने वाला होता है। इनसे चित्त एकाग्र तथा पित्त शांत रहता है। भोजन में उपरोक्त पदार्थ शामिल होने पर कई तरह के रोग एवं स्वास्थ्य संबंधी परेशानियों से बचा जा सकता है। शास्त्रों में कहा गया है कि सात्विक भोजन से व्यक्ति का मन निर्मल व सकारात्मक सोच वाला तथा मस्तिष्क शांतिमय बनता है। इससे शरीर स्वस्थ रहकर निरोगी बनता है। सात्विक भोजन से व्यक्ति चेतना के तल से उपर उठकर निर्भिक तथा होशवान बनता है। 2.राजसिक भोजन : लहसुन, प्याज, अधिक मिर्च और तेज मसालों से युक्त भोजन राजसिक भोजन के अंतर्गत आता है। इसके अंतर्गत मांसाहार भी होता है। सिर्फ वही मांसाहार जो वर्जित नहीं है। वर्जित मांसाहार तामसिक भोजन के अंतर्गत माना जाएगा। हालांकि कुछ लोगों के अनुसार मांसाहार भोजन राजसिक भोजन के अंतर्गत नहीं आता है। वर्तमान समय का आधुनिक भोजन राजसिक भोजन कहा जाएगा। जैसे, नाश्ते में शामिल आधुनिक सभी पदार्थ, शक्तिवर्धक दवाएं, चाय, कॉफी, कोको, सोडा, पान, तंबाकू, मदिरा एवं व्यसन की सभी वस्तुएं शामिल हैं। परिणाम : वर्तमान में होनेवाली अनेक बीमारियों का कारण इसी तरह का खानपान है। राजसी भोज्य पदार्थों के गलत या अधिक इस्तेमाल से कब, क्या तकलीफें हो जाएं या कोई बीमारी हो जाए, कहा नहीं जा सकता। राजसिक भोजन से उत्तेजना का संचार होता है, जिसके कारण व्यक्ति में क्रोध तथा चंचलता बनी रहती है। राजसिक भोजन व्यक्ति को जीवन पर्यंत तनावग्रस्त, चंचल, भयभीत और अति भावुक बनाए रखकर सांसार में उलझाए रखता है। 3.तामसिक भोजन : इसमें प्रमुख मांसाहार माना जाता है, लेकिन बासी एवं विषम आहार भी इसमें शामिल हैं। किसी का फेंका हुआ, झूठा, सड़ा हुआ, वर्जित पशु का मांस, भूमि पर गिरा हुआ, गंदे तरीके से बनाया हुआ, साफ शुद्ध जल से नहीं धोया गया आदि कई तरह के तामसिक भोजन हो सकते हैं। बार बार गर्म किया हुआ, कृतिम तरीके से बनाया हुआ, फ्रीज करके रखा हुआ। अत्यधिक तेलयुक्त, वसायुक्त और अत्यधिक मीठा भोजन भी तामसिक भोजन होता है। परिणाम : तामसिक भोजन द्वारा क्रोध, आलस्य, अति नींद, उदासी, सेक्स भाव, रोग और नकारात्मक धारणाओं से व्यक्ति ग्रसित होकर चेतना को गिरा लेता है। तामसिक भोजन से चेतना में गिरावट आती है जिससे व्यक्ति मूढ़ बनकर भोजन तथा संभोग में ही रत रने वाला बन जाता है।

Vit B12 is made by soil bacteria NOT by animals. The majority of animals these days are bred in factory farms where they are fed soy, corn, barley and other grains. They are given B12 supplements cause they have no access to what they are naturally meant to be eating. They got to their B12 from consuming grass etc which was uncleaned. Vegans prefer to pop a B12 supplement instead of feeding it to an animal and killing the animal to get your hit of B12.
I have non vegan colleagues who go for iron transfusions and others who have q B12 deficiency. And I have vegan friends who despite not taking a B12 supplement get perfect blood test results. .
Eggs aren’t really vegetarian or non-vegetarian. They aren't veg because ofc they don't come from plants. But they aren't 'non-veg' either. The eggs we buy from the market are unfertilized, meaning they can’t turn into chickens. It’s similar to how human females release eggs each month. If no fertilization happens, the egg is just part of the body’s cycle. In chickens, they lay eggs regularly, and if they haven’t mated with a rooster, those eggs can’t create life, just like in humans. Dairy products and milk both contain vit B12, also veg stuff include Nori seaweed and Shitake mushrooms. And trace amounts can be found in bananas, apples, spinach, mushrooms, potatoes and berries.
For vegans source of B12 can be Spinach, milk, yogurt, cheesse, paneer, mushrooms, careals (They include rice, wheat, rye, oats, barley, millet, and maize), Edible grains from other plant families, such as buckwheat and quinoa, are pseudocereals.

Vegetarian and vegan options are for us because in India it’s easily available. These options can’t be given to people who leave in Desert area or in very cold weathers.
I have personally learnt a lot from Dr. Nandita Shah ji. Not only she provided such a wonderful knowledge but the way she has handled this young Dr. Mrinal Barua with her humbleness is amazing. But I guess Vishal Chaurasia should give equal timings to both the sides. Female doctor got only 20% of the time to speak while 80% of the time male doctor was talking, and that too off the topic. Keeping a stopwatch can be useful to let both the sides speak equally and with harmony.

Debate was good. Both representatives made sense. Mam was more convincing because I think she has practice of answering these questions from patients. People going for mixed diet don’t ask or think morality and human evolution that much. I think once a month little bit meat could be ok if we are trying to become vegetarian to avoid complete relapses. And portion of meat should be less along with more veggies
I am a pharmacist in USA and there are B12 and D deficiency everywhere even more in usa.
That explains why we've had the multi billion supplement industry since the 1950s. It can't have been the vegans contributing to their sales cause veganism went mainstream only a couple of years ago.

कहते हैं कि जैसा खाओगे अन्न वैसा बनेगा मन। जैसे होगा मन वैसे होगा विचार और भाव। जैसा होगा विचार और भाव वैसा ही होगा आपका व्यवहार और भविष्य। इसीलिए हिन्दू धर्म में भोजन के तीन प्रकार बताए गए हैं। सात्विक भोजन, राजसिक भोजन और तामसिक भोजन। यहां संक्षिप्त में इन तीनों के परिणाम की जानकारी।
1.सात्विक भोजन : ताजा शुद्ध शाकाहारी और उत्तम भोजन को सात्विक भोजन कहते हैं। इस भोजन में लहसुन, प्याज, बैंगन और कटहल जैसी उत्तेजना बढ़ाने वाली सामग्री का उपयोग कम ही किया जाता है। क्योंकि कई ऐसा शाकाहारी भोजन भी है जो राजसिक और तामसिक भोजन के अंतर्गत आते हैं। दूध, दही, घी, मक्खन, शहद, शहतूत, हरी पत्तेदार सब्जियां, नारियल, मिश्री, खीर, पंचाम्रत, भात आदि सात्विक भोजन के अंतर्गत आते हैं।
यह भोजन रसयुक्त, हल्की चिकनाईयुक्त और पौष्टिक होना चाहिए। इसमें अन्ना, दूध, मक्खन, घी, मट्ठा, दही, हरी-पत्तेदार सब्जियां, फल-मेवा आदि शामिल हैं। इन्हीं के साथ नींबू, नारंगी और मिश्री का शरबत, लस्सी जैसे तरल पदार्थ बहुत लाभप्रद हैं।
परिणाम : सात्विक भोजन शीघ्र पचने वाला होता है। इनसे चित्त एकाग्र तथा पित्त शांत रहता है। भोजन में उपरोक्त पदार्थ शामिल होने पर कई तरह के रोग एवं स्वास्थ्य संबंधी परेशानियों से बचा जा सकता है। शास्त्रों में कहा गया है कि सात्विक भोजन से व्यक्ति का मन निर्मल व सकारात्मक सोच वाला तथा मस्तिष्क शांतिमय बनता है। इससे शरीर स्वस्थ रहकर निरोगी बनता है। सात्विक भोजन से व्यक्ति चेतना के तल से उपर उठकर निर्भिक तथा होशवान बनता है।
2.राजसिक भोजन : लहसुन, प्याज, अधिक मिर्च और तेज मसालों से युक्त भोजन राजसिक भोजन के अंतर्गत आता है। इसके अंतर्गत मांसाहार भी होता है। सिर्फ वही मांसाहार जो वर्जित नहीं है। वर्जित मांसाहार तामसिक भोजन के अंतर्गत माना जाएगा। हालांकि कुछ लोगों के अनुसार मांसाहार भोजन राजसिक भोजन के अंतर्गत नहीं आता है। वर्तमान समय का आधुनिक भोजन राजसिक भोजन कहा जाएगा। जैसे, नाश्ते में शामिल आधुनिक सभी पदार्थ, शक्तिवर्धक दवाएं, चाय, कॉफी, कोको, सोडा, पान, तंबाकू, मदिरा एवं व्यसन की सभी वस्तुएं शामिल हैं।
परिणाम : वर्तमान में होनेवाली अनेक बीमारियों का कारण इसी तरह का खानपान है। राजसी भोज्य पदार्थों के गलत या अधिक इस्तेमाल से कब, क्या तकलीफें हो जाएं या कोई बीमारी हो जाए, कहा नहीं जा सकता। राजसिक भोजन से उत्तेजना का संचार होता है, जिसके कारण व्यक्ति में क्रोध तथा चंचलता बनी रहती है। राजसिक भोजन व्यक्ति को जीवन पर्यंत तनावग्रस्त, चंचल, भयभीत और अति भावुक बनाए रखकर सांसार में उलझाए रखता है।
3.तामसिक भोजन : इसमें प्रमुख मांसाहार माना जाता है, लेकिन बासी एवं विषम आहार भी इसमें शामिल हैं। किसी का फेंका हुआ, झूठा, सड़ा हुआ, वर्जित पशु का मांस, भूमि पर गिरा हुआ, गंदे तरीके से बनाया हुआ, साफ शुद्ध जल से नहीं धोया गया आदि कई तरह के तामसिक भोजन हो सकते हैं। बार बार गर्म किया हुआ, कृतिम तरीके से बनाया हुआ, फ्रीज करके रखा हुआ। अत्यधिक तेलयुक्त, वसायुक्त और अत्यधिक मीठा भोजन भी तामसिक भोजन होता है।
परिणाम : तामसिक भोजन द्वारा क्रोध, आलस्य, अति नींद, उदासी, सेक्स भाव, रोग और नकारात्मक धारणाओं से व्यक्ति ग्रसित होकर चेतना को गिरा लेता है। तामसिक भोजन से चेतना में गिरावट आती है जिससे व्यक्ति मूढ़ बनकर भोजन तथा संभोग में ही रत रने वाला बन जाता है।

You missed some topics: is egg an vegetarian or non-vegetarian food; and are non-vegetarian foods the only sources of Vitamin B12?
Vit B12 is made by soil bacteria NOT by animals. The majority of animals these days are bred in factory farms where they are fed soy, corn, barley and other grains. They are given B12 supplements cause they have no access to what they are naturally meant to be eating. They got to their B12 from consuming grass etc which was uncleaned. Vegans prefer to pop a B12 supplement instead of feeding it to an animal and killing the animal to get your hit of B12.
I have non vegan colleagues who go for iron transfusions and others who have q B12 deficiency. And I have vegan friends who despite not taking a B12 supplement get perfect blood test results. .
Today in the developed countries where most vegans live the plant based foods are being fortified with B12. I don't know about India.
Eggs aren’t really vegetarian or non-vegetarian. They aren't veg because ofc they don't come from plants.
But they aren't 'non-veg' either. The eggs we buy from the market are unfertilized, meaning they can’t turn into chickens. It’s similar to how human females release eggs each month. If no fertilization happens, the egg is just part of the body’s cycle. In chickens, they lay eggs regularly, and if they haven’t mated with a rooster, those eggs can’t create life, just like in humans.
Dairy products and milk both contain vit B12, also veg stuff include Nori seaweed and Shitake mushrooms. And trace amounts can be found in bananas, apples, spinach, mushrooms, potatoes and berries.
For vegans source of B12 can be Spinach, milk, yogurt, cheesse, paneer, mushrooms, careals (They include rice, wheat, rye, oats, barley, millet, and maize), Edible grains from other plant families, such as buckwheat and quinoa, are pseudocereals.

I have personally learnt a lot from Dr. Nandita Shah ji. Not only she provided such a wonderful knowledge but the way she has handled this young Dr. Mrinal Barua with her humbleness is amazing. But I guess Vishal Chaurasia should give equal timings to both the sides. Female doctor got only 20% of the time to speak while 80% of the time male doctor was talking, and that too off the topic. Keeping a stopwatch can be useful to let both the sides speak equally and with harmony.
