I agree with Jihyo I thought the same thing that Jeongyeon shouldn’t push herself if she’s not ready especially because that’s what got her in that predicament anyways. It was the same as Mina they push and push and push until they just can’t do it anymore. Jeongyeon pushed too far by even doing m&m and ik she wanted to do it because it was first ot9 comeback since Mina’s hiatus as well as first cb since their tour was cancelled. She was already injured and should’ve taken the time then but she kept performing and had these changes in the public eye causing more criticism towards her. I appreciate Jihyo for being honest why watch someone struggle to satisfy the team.
The thing is that Jihyo really has a hard time letting things go. In TTT TDOONG Forest, she mentioned how she dwells on things like if people make jokes about her, so this must have eaten her up inside for so long
Stop misunderstanding this. They are best friends and also the 2 strong pillars who kept their group steady. All the members are supporting softly by saying you can do this, try slowly but Jihyo as a leader and a bestie who know her from almost 11-12 years used little bit harsh words like" Don't try too much if you can't do it stop it" that can make her to do the extra effort to make her confident once again and gain back her energy. Don't forget that Jihyo was always sticked with Jeongyeon when she initially felt anxious and made her comfortable and confident. They are sharing it like matured individuals and that makes their bond even stronger. They don't hide anything they openly sharing it and my respect for Jihyo as a leader and Jeongyeon as a member increased much more...❤
True, they are the two pillars of the group. As her best friend, no one would be better to tell her the truth. It's also a form of support but it will eat you up knowing how hurtful what you have to say to your friend, knowing that it's best for them.
It's possible that back then things were indeed tense between them. Jihyo is the leader of the group and not having Jeongyeon definitely affected Twice's activities and their performances or so I'm guessing from the company's perspective. The 'Cry for Me' MV definitely hurt some of their prospects too I think? Suffering from injury and the period of panic and anxiety, it's not easy for anyone to make their way back. We don't know anything about the story behind the scenes, maybe Jeongyeon had a tough time making recovery and as Jihyo said, perhaps she wouldn't have gotten back on her feet at all if it was not for the support/a positive pressure from her members. After she came back from her hiatus, they seem to be on good terms from all the vlogs and content that I've seen.
Also if their relationship had tension, if Jihyo didn't really care for Jeongyeon, she would have just let her be instead of scolding and reprimanding her. People who care about you will do anything to get you back on your feet even if it makes them look bad. I was really surprised they brought up this topic at all and the main thing I took away from this instance is that Jihyo really did care.
