He is singing in Mandarin here, The song Autumn Strong is originally written in the Japanese Language.
It is about Yoshiko Yamaguchi, a Japanese Born Chinese Actress who hid her true identity (being a Japanese Born) under the name Li Xiang Lan.
During the world war 2, the chinese audience adored her not knowing the truth, eventually her true identity where exposed and she was deported back to Japan and she never saw china again.
Everytime i hear this song, i can't help but to shed tears. ❤️

I feel the version he did on that show he was on was better...good song but he better performance on the singer
This isn't his best version of this song. Please go check out the gloria wu version of it when he learnt and sang it. There is an incredibly sad backstory to this song. It's one of the greatest Japanese songs written. The first time he sang it is when he conveyed the emotions of the composer best.

I agree. This is not the best version. It doesn't convey the true feelings of the composer of the song and the story behind the song. The one he did in the Singer competition is the truest rendition of the song in its emotional sensitivity.
