I bought ones of these areound 10 months ago.. definitely my best laptop ever. I only use it for gaming.. and it has not disappointed. I chose this laptop for one reason.. THE SCREEN! The screen is absolutely like nothing you've seen before.. The colors (especially the black), the crispiness and smoothness are incredible for gaming and even watching qhd content. The only issue I had with this laptop is that the i7-7700HQ bottlenecks the gpu.. You can turn on boost mode from the bios (increases speed from 2.8 Ghz to 3.2-3.4 Ghz) and also turn on fan performance mode to prevent throttling.. but a faster cpu would have been better
The kaby i7 in this should not bottleneck the CPU. I haven't experienced any bottleneck during any gameplay. While monitoring with MSI afterburner OSD, the CPU generally fluctuates between 3.4ghz and 3.6ghz. Use throttlesto, check hypershift, undervolt -125 mv for BOTH the core and the cache. You will see a significant reduction in CPU and GPU temps which will enable better CPU performance. Have you monitored your temps yet? I haven't repasted yet and using stock thermal paste. My CPU rarely goes above 80c, generally hovering in the mid 70s during gaming (an hour or two of gaming).
thanks for your reply.. this has only happened to me while playing bfv.. none of the other titles.. I'll try monitoring the temps, and I'll post my results here tonight. I'm honestly a noob in all of the technical stuff, but I'll give it a shot.
@@hutji8237 i think he refers to the extra size the laptop gets for its desing and the fact alienware appears to have discontinued the 13 model since they haven't announce a new model for like 3-4 years

Yes definitely! it has one of the best laptop keyboards I've ever used and that includes the old thinkpads.
