Still one of the best and most MUSICAL performances of this Ligeti étude I´ve come across, Aimard version included.

I just wrote this to a friend in San Francisco:
-The music is so difficult that I consider it as unplayable not only for me but for many pianists except a very few who really spend their sweat on it for many years to learn the abstruse difficulties he puts in his piano music. But what I want to tell you is that LIGETI (1923-2006) really is a notion for Germans, as he was and is very popular in Germany, and his music is as well, and probably only in Germany, except of course the most musical countries of the world, Russia, and the Eastern countries themselves. But I am pretty sure that in America there is a growing interest in Ligeti as well.
By the way, the end of this video and the fact he holds the pedal so long is not a fancy, it's written in the score! This was the best interpretation I ever heard of this hairy piece of music.
Behold, It is certainly no chance that a Korean pianist plays the music of a Romanian composer! For both groups of people are attracted to Germany, and it's our German fusional culture that brings them together, for if you ask any German about who are the greatest musical performers, they will say, of course the Koreans, and if you ask them to name one composer of modern classical music who is outstanding, they are likely to say 'Ligeti.'
