Even cost is relative. If using it makes you this happy then it’s worth the price. I think that’s why the electronics industry is so huge, electronics can bring you joy. Watching that beautiful tv display, the sounds coming from great speakers that can give you goosebumps. Most of the things we spend our money on doesn’t bring joy.

I absolutely love having the cellular enabled iPad. It's definitely worth it if you are going to be on the go. I use my iPad mini 6 as my infotainment system in my car and it is a lifesaver when I'm in hotels for work trips.
I am fine using bigger iPads like the 12.9 inch as a WiFi only device but that's just because I wouldn't be taking it out of the house but for an iPad that is with me all the time, I definitely will never go WiFi only again.

@@LouRaX Hey I'm not saying you NEED to have the cellular model lol I just would rather pay for the convenience. It's obvious that paying for it is not worth it in your opinion which is exactly why they offer a WiFi only version and a cellular model. Even without cellular activated, I still go for cellular models since GPS is only on those models.

I completely agree with you. Even if my car came with CarPlay, it would still be a much better experience with the iPad Mini. You don’t get half the features in CarPlay that you would with an iPad. Plus, it’s dismountable, you can take it on the go with you and, use it as a second screen for your iPhone at all times because it’s so portable.

i bought 256 wifi only but after a week of using it, i returned it and exchanged for a 256 with cellular.

  • @DB-47

I actually love the cellular enabled mini series most from iPad portfolio. I had so far iPad mini 1, 3 and I am about to get iPad mini 2021 (6th iteration) and their sweet spot for using them is mainly in public transport, short term trips / vacations and in home as "sofa" mobile device where smartphone is too small for extended usage, but PC / notebook is overkill. On the street or short hangouts like going to get groceries or just take a walk through forest I rather use only my smartphone.
The benefit is that when you have 4G / 5G modem built into the iPad, it consumes way less battery in total (taking into account battery drain on hotspot device) because there is no need to first receive LTE / 5G, do routing which also consumes CPU and RAM and then finally is traffic broadcasted via Wi-Fi card. Cellular iPad itself can serve as great hotspot, because it dissipates easier waste heat, has larger battery that handles better larger power demand drained by hotspot, has larger cellular antennas and it has double stream Wi-Fi antennas or you can use USB-C cable which can transfer up to 5 Gbit/s so it does not bottleneck 5G. If I turn on hotspot on my Samsung S20 5G, it becomes hot in few minutes, so I am also worried about battery health.
Also nice about cellular iPads is that they also have GNSS module, so you can use them as car navigation or simply you have large map in compact device.

I defer a little on the cost. I just change my pro max iPhone to a regular smaller one, thus making it cheaper than the big one. Got the iPad mini (basically the price difference between a bigger phone and the difference of iPad mini wifi only vs wifi+cellular is the same) then the 10 dollars a month might be better than adding wifi data randomly OR over “working” your phone sharing the internet. For the hotspot many times you’re restricted in GB to use, then after that is super slow and on top, the inconvenience of having to reconnect if you stop working on it for a couple of minutes . I see it as having 2 devices for the price of one (b/c the issue is not the iPad full price but deciding the upgrade). But I totally agree with you, way better.

When he was talking about Hot spotting your iPad and how it’s not that fast and it kills your phones battery faster well I have to agree I was Hot spotting my brothers iPhone and my iPhones battery was dropping like 5% every 10 minutes but he was also playing a graphically intensive game but Hot Spotting to my iPad like I’m doing now is fine and I only had to wait an extra couple seconds for a video to load
For context where staying at our grandparents house and they have to wifi

In regards to using it as an interface with your drone, how have you found your experience to be? I am currently using a Lenovo M8 with my Fimi but am very interested in getting the Mini.

iPad mini 6th gen. 5G. Great video. I definitely like the 6th gen. iPad mini for USB type-c, Apple Pencil 2 support, laminated display, touch ID, and A15 Apple Silicon.

is 5g worth it? It depends on the country you live in. For instance, 5G in my country seems like a scam because it has the same speed as 4G

Of course it is. But the ipad mini has both 5g and 4g so don’t think they’re separate products

I don’t think I’ll get it. I can always just use my iPhone as a mobile hot spot, plus drawing doesn’t need Wi-Fi and that’s what I’d mostly be doing.

    I have two questions:
Will I be able to use 4G wifi connection on my 5G enabled ipad?
Also, I use a mobile router, Huawei wifi pro2 and I'm able to carry it anywhere. Is buying a wifi only ipad not sufficient for someone with a mobile router?

    • @aalikes7

You are right. That why I want to sell my mini 5 and get a LTE model. I have a LTE ipad pro 2017 and go for that all the time because it has built in LTE. 5G would be good, I am also fine with LTE/4G.

Cellular is great for travel. But we are in a pandemic and most of us if we do travel have fast WiFi. Every coffee shop has WiFi. And tethering is not a bad option compared to spending another monthly cellular for luxury.

Thanks T for your continued reviews on the mini and covering all the possibilities that we your followers may be considering. I had no idea that the Wi-Fi model had no gps chip 😯. I do not have a vehicle with Apple CarPlay, and while I use my phone for navigation, a larger screen would be great. Now we just need Apple to allow a CarPlay UI on our mobile devices when we are mobile!

    • @aalikes7
      @aalikes7 2 года назад

That's an interesting thought. Why would you want that? I find CarPlay to limit functionality rather than provide an Apple device an expansion.

I bought an iPad Mini Celiular - 8 years ago. I did not like it for browsing - I use my 14" laptop for that.
I use my Mini almost exclusively when I travel for the following:
#1- as a GPS unit in the car - the best GPS ever !
#2 - as a side kick or mirror screen to view video a/w my laptop on the road
    #3 - & as an Reader
Over all these years that is about all I have used the mini for (I don't game)
I will likely buy the new Mini 6 as my old one is on it's last leg.

For me personally, I don’t use cellular on my phone outside unless it’s for a specific task so all the points listed in the video are a non issue for me since my mini 6 will primarily be a in home device where WIFI is always available.
Yes there’s convenience in cellular but that’s all it is and if you eliminate that convenience as much as possible, then it’s really just a waste as an option..for me anyway

12.9 iPad Pro is too expensive for me at the moment. When I do go on vacations, I take my mini because I got it since it’s so portable..plus I can also use it as a mini keyboard computer
