  • Sound healing pioneers Dean and Dudley Evenson share fond memories of their 1994 journey to Tibet in celebration of their 25th wedding anniversary. Their trip to the rooftop of the world inspired them to create music for their album "Ascension to Tibet." They are now several years past their 50th anniversary and their track "Tantra Love" from that album continues to be popular to this day. Back then, very few Westerners had been to Tibet and Dean and Dudley felt like they were traveling back in time.
They awoke at dawn to meditate with and record chanting monks. They videoed herders singing to their yaks in a ritual of barley thrashing. Children laughed at Dean's long beard. Along with prayerful pilgrims, they climbed the steps of the Potola Palace, the Dalai Lama's former home in Lhasa. As they traveled the dust road through high mountain passes, they came to great appreciation of the beauty and resilience of the Tibetan people.

Wonderful. 50 years ago. I was just out of high school then, attending Santa Fe College. I may have run into my friend and teacher, Phil Goldberg, that year. He introduced me and many other SFC students to some teachings of The Tibetan, Djwahl Kuhl. I learned of Shamballa, where the Bodhisattva, whom some may know as the Christ and others by other names, lives. I enjoyed a book named The Way to Shamballa which follows a man's journey through Tibet. There was also a great book called The Snow Leopard. Regarding Tibetan Buddhism, I loved a book called Tibet's Great Yogi Milarepa. You two, I can see are two great yogis, and I am so happy to have met you in this lifetime. Sadgurunath Maharaj ki jay!

Thanks for sharing your experience and the message of Oneness. Venessa and I are moving to Whidbey Island in the next month or so and are expecting our daughter's birth early June, perhaps before she arrives we can bring our gongs over and share some sounds. We created another Channel called Another You Gongs (@anotheryougongs) and will be posting more sounds soon. Light and Love to you two.
