Just shows you, even a coveted and well looked after bike will have some things needing an expert eye. Cracking job, as ever. Sagan will be happy to have his bike back
Thanks for sorting the bike Lee. Gemma loves it, said it feels like new again and I hope it does her well this year. Awesome service with attention to detail!
On one hand I hate seeing great (and expensive) bikes being neglected but on the other hand I love seeing you restore them to their former glory. Excellent job as always.
A compiled spread sheet of different parts with torque settings would be amazing. Even a paid pdf version if it is well enough done would be next level.
The only mechanical groupset that offers true sprint-shifting. This is SRAM DoubleTap's strongest advantage. And I'm saying this as a Shimano-biased rider.
Brilliant job again. Nothing gets past you boys. Wealth of experience together with undoubted passion, the customer gets better than factory spec. Marvellous
Echo that comment . Well done boys, glad you had a well deserved break, exemplary levels of professionalism as always …….. (standards of care equivalent to that for Aston Martin in the car world)………..great stuff 👏👏👏
Welcome back BikeSpeeds! Hope you had a good break. Lee, you went well above & beyond with your service & detaiing for this premium Specialized bike. Wow!
We were a big fan of the design of this one. Next week we have a neon green bike but the paint shone incredibly after polishing it and it’s in our top list of bikes we’ve filmed for that reason!🧡⚙️
I was waiting for you to put the oval chain rings back in a different position to which you found them, but you nailed that one as well. Great job as always.😆
I used to work in the textile industry and served my time as mechanical and maintenance engineer, I no longer work in industry and miss the process of getting my hands dirty and fixing things that aren't quite right or that are totally broken. I regularly strip one of my bikes down and do pretty much all of what you guys do in the workshop. It is so rewarding and just as much fun as riding them. Thanks for giving us another insight into the world of bike servicing and TLC.👍
Absolutely brilliant video, I’ve watched a few, this one is fav so far! Could you possibly do a video on where all the pivot points are on the rear derailleur?
Hi there. I know this is an old video. I’ve seen some of your videos in the past. Bu5 I’ve never commented. I was looking for content about Specialized Venge old model and stumbled on this one. I have to say. I do like the way you use the different grease and the way are storing them. I do work on my bike at home. Some small servicing etc. but when I do , you can see me with a lot of containers spread on the work table. 🤣 But I’m gonna mimic your way buy using these medical needles 💉 for less mess. lol. Thanks for sharing man. I do own a 2007 Bianchi 2007. Still racing with it. It’s a climbing bike. I’ve added some 40mm rims to it to keep the light weight but to benefit of some aero gains on flats. You know to keep up with the aero bikes in the bunch. Looking forward to step to an aero bike myself. Greetings from Curaçao 🇨🇼
Great video again. Thank you for all your efforts, producing these videos. And I really like the detail, that this time the thumbnail got the exact bike. Thanks for improving these details.
Love it guys, good to have you back! Just hover on the final after shot of the finished bike a bit longer, it's all over very quickly at the end and we like to see it in all its splendor!
Makes me so happy to see bikes saved like this. What a beauty! This to me is when bikes were made at their best. Today it seems race/endurance/gravel are 1 category and they just don’t look and ride like these bikes. I just refurbed a 2013 Madone 5.9 DI2 and getting it on the road just made me remember what made me fall in love with cycling.
Awesome! Great to hear you’re still enjoying your bike we’re also fond of that era of bikes it was a peak before things became very very complicated for little gains🧡
Great bike made better thanks to Bikespeeds. So many little details with the bike that just needed a thorough service and detail. Hope you guys had a Happy Easter. Lee, because of your comments about the importance of torquing the bike, I bought a torque wrench and went through my bikes. What a difference…everything feels so much better, and no more rattling components. Great to have you back.
Another spectacular video! I tried assembling my own Venge when I first got it. It wasn’t until I took it to a professional shop that I realized the errors of my ways. They had to reroute my cables as well and made all the difference in the world with performance and looks!
Another fantastic job. Nice A~Z of a bike servce. For those that understand how the bike works, really appreciate the subtle but critical things u are doing to get the bike roadworthy and working like new. I would say in my limited experience, building up the bike is the easy part. It is initial strip and cleaning that is an art. U made it looked so easy. All because u have established a working smooth workflow. Very nice. Please continue sharing. Have a great week ahead.
Outstanding bike service , what you have done to this bike is worth every penny . When I’ve taken my bike in for a service at my local bike shop I’ve played some of your videos and requested your level of detail when my bike is serviced . For me you have set a standard that a require when my bike needs a service. Watching your videos has now become a ritual I look forward to every week or when you release the next episode . Wonderful viewing👍🏾.
Desr Lee and Simon, nice service again. Missed you already 😄Wish you a nice weekend now, greetings from Germany, and I will spend some time with my lovely Giant e-bike in the garage on Sunday 🌞👍🍀💪
what a beautiful bike its probably riding better than it did brand new...... SO much work............ some point id love to have the time and tools and skill set to take care of my own bikes
I have a 2013 Giant TCR and 2018 Propel, i love riding both of them, I service both bikes monthly which is about 500k’s each bike, then twice a year I do a total strip down, they look amazing when I do that 🚴🏻🚴♀️👍
Welcome back and hope Easter was filled with chocolate and fun. Lobely bike and cracking service to get going again. Great job and thanks for sharing as always 🎉
Welcome back🎉. You're audience missed you and hopes you had a pleasant holiday. That bike is now ready to provide summer fun 😎 great job as always, and looking forward to your online shop venture. Cheers!
Hello again and thank you for the video(s). Love this bike. I have a couple Allez Sprint models from around this year. I am a fan of torque specs and was wondering if you could start mentioning in passing the spec on the component you have the wrench on? Would love to hear the torque spec of a brake cable pinch bolt.
Usually components have their torque setting written on them which is why we never mention it, bike models can vary so much you’re just best of checking your own bike! Thanks again for joining us 🧡⚙️
great service as usual and what a great bike that is! was surprised to see a shimano lock on a cassette - or a whole shimano cassette - with sram groupset

Our grease selections come with a guide when you buy them but in general, copper for metal on metal, oil on pivot points, premium grease on premium parts and general purpose grease everywhere else 🧡
Just curious you torque all the bolts but you use copper grease on the bolts which is good but do the settings you use take the grease into consideration as grease can alter the torque settings

I got the same bike as him, wondering which type of bottom bracket will fit in the veng ? Mines got ceramic speed bb bearings plus adapter to 24mm spindle (i noticed some movement in the crank even bolts are tight asf) so im planning to change it whole to a bb but don’t know which size should I take since its OSBB
Hello bikespeeds I'm a student in India who commutes to college on my bike... Do you have any suggestions or tips for bike maintenance?... btw big fan of your work!❤
As a detailer, I cringe a little everytime I see you "polishing" matte paint. What you're doing is bringing that finish closer to a satin finish and smoothing it out which is the exact opposite of the intended effect of matte finishes. The best thing you can do with matte paint is to decomtamite it as much as possible with soap that doesn't contain any gloss effects (waxes) and then use a matte paint coating to protect it. As always... LOVELY job on these videos!
I wash the frame before i build it back up again. Saying about your website sales 3 weeks ago i asked for your email for sales contact but i don’t seem to have any response
I always think it strange that people buy expensive bikes and seem to know absolutely nothing about maintaining them. The same applies to cars - is it that the things themselves have become too complicated (by design of the manufacturers) or is it that people have just become too lazy to learn how to look after their own stuff?
There are various reasons, one of them being that some of them don't have mechanical aptitude. Some don't even know how to remove a rear quick-release wheel from a frame because they don't know how to pivot the rear derailleur out of the way. One of my customers didn't know how to align the skewer levers properly until I taught him (the levers were lined up with the frame tubes before this, making them difficult to flip open and doesn't guarantee full clamping force).
Just shows you, even a coveted and well looked after bike will have some things needing an expert eye. Cracking job, as ever. Sagan will be happy to have his bike back
This service had plenty to offer the bike, it’s always fun to do such a dramatic tune up🧡
Are you joking?
Thanks for sorting the bike Lee. Gemma loves it, said it feels like new again and I hope it does her well this year. Awesome service with attention to detail!
Awesome bike, enjoy Gemma...
Thank you⚙️🧡

Fantastic bike, it absolutely deserved the loving service it got! Well Done
Thank you Mark! 🧡⚙️
A compiled spread sheet of different parts with torque settings would be amazing. Even a paid pdf version if it is well enough done would be next level.
Sweet bike. Mechanical SRAM Red is such nice stuff.
Great actuation to it. Thanks!🧡⚙️

We had a good break but are waiting for parts this week so unfortunately on another break! Thanks as always for the support🧡⚙️

We liked it! Thanks for watching🧡
Always nice to see a Bikespeeds upload!

great service as usual and what a great bike that is! was surprised to see a shimano lock on a cassette - or a whole shimano cassette - with sram groupset

Thanks🧡⚙️
I have this bike. This is why the video was suggested to me. This is sooo satisfying to watch. Subscribed. How much do you charge for a service like this?
Thanks for subscribing and glad you enjoyed it!🧡
Great video's. Love the attention to detail and explanation. Is there a guide to where you use the various greases and oils? Thanks
In general torque fastener talk, that is the case, but I've torqued multiple greased bolts according to labeled specs and damaged nothing.
Torquing fasteners dry is asking for trouble in the future, like getting them seized. Instructions will tell you when not to grease a fastener.
Can a motivated beginner use a 2nd hand Venge like this to start riding? I'm in love with the Venge and found one in great condition.
Thinkin about using it as my 1st real road bike.
Absolutely it’s a very very nice bike!🧡
open the bearing seals clen them and pack a new grease inside!
It's like taking your bike to a spa day,
Haha!🧡⚙️
Surprising how many micro issues that can be found on a bike that looks fine.
Absolutely. The amount of bikes we decide not to film and then regret because there was so much wrong with them even though they were mint!🧡
Because of these, sometimes it takes me a long time to refine these details. I literally leave no bolt untouched.
I have 3 bikes,
Trek Domane DI2 & BMC MTB both work like a charm.
But I have A Scott Foil RC20 2022 and that’s my race bike, but had been a nightmare regarding the brakes.
The SRAM Rival AXS levers are making this peeping noice, brake rotors keep touching and making this horrible noice.
The bike has been in multiple bike shops, the issues are still there.
If I would be in the UK I would bring my bike in for service at your store just because I feel it’s going to be in very good hands (issues would be fixed).
Very kind words thanks! The brakes sound strange, disc brakes can be a nightmare!🧡
So detailed amazing. Wish my bike mechanics would do the same!! Where do you get the clear vinyl stickers from?
We make them and will soon be selling them on our coming website so stay tuned for that. Thanks for watching!🧡⚙️
Another great vid - thank you! Can you reuse the degreaser in the ultrasonic cleaner or is it one use only?
Yes it can be reused many times 🧡⚙️
I was wondering how much you charge an hour for such a thorough service ? (Im also a bike mechanic so i was quite curious)
👍
Thanks again James 🧡
You think Shimano Di2 would work on it ? because I to want to put it on a same bike like that one
Do you have any suggestions or tips for bike maintenance?... btw big fan of your work!❤
RUclips is your best friend and take pictures when you take things apart so you know how to put them back together 🧡
How do you find the hunt wheels? I'm just about to buy some of their Carbon 40's
What torque wrench youre using?
How long does a job like this typically take you?
When we’re recording 3-4 days and when we’re not 4-5 hours 🧡
As a detailer, I cringe a little everytime I see you "polishing" matte paint. What you're doing is bringing that finish closer to a satin finish and smoothing it out which is the exact opposite of the intended effect of matte finishes. As always... LOVELY job on these videos!
Do you believe in the real world that bike mechanics put in all that work even though the customers have paid for it! I don't but very entertaining.
Properly competent mechanics still exist, you can't generalise all of them just because of one bad apple you've seen.
I wash the frame before i build it back up again. Saying about your website sales 3 weeks ago i asked for your email for sales contact but i don’t seem to have any response
Red with an Ultegra cassette? Is the chain SRAM or KMC? Looks like KMC.
Not even sure! This one came in and out and we can’t remember what chain it had.🧡⚙️
If the chain is an aftermarket one that works on both Shimano and SRAM cassette teeth profiles, nothing wrong with that.
Why have hunt wheels on an s works?
you didn't file the edges of the fork steerer after cutting the chimney.
Why is that large chainring an oval?
Oval chainrings are said to eliminate dead spots in your pedaling circle.
It is designed to help put more power through your stroke 🧡
I always think it strange that people buy expensive bikes and seem to know absolutely nothing about maintaining them. The same applies to cars - is it that the things themselves have become too complicated (by design of the manufacturers) or is it that people have just become too lazy to learn how to look after their own stuff?
