@@Mr.Martini549 We are all tired of the person who played tennis, and thinks they can compete at the top pro level. Ask Jack Sock how hard it is and these newbies were never that good.
@@gg80108didn’t sock make it into the top 10? But it’s sad right? What does that say about PB? 😂. No PB player would dream of being a pro tennis player. The fact tennis players can get close or immediately even rank in the top 10 makes you wonder about the sport.
It makes me sad to see the likes on this particular video aren’t even 5% of the total views. Long videos like these that break down all the fundamentals are pure gold
I'm 67 years old and come from a tennis background. I learned a lot from this video, and I've subscribed to your channel. I've only been playing pickleball for less than a year now and love it more than tennis. I've also shared your videos and techniques with others I'm praying with. 😊 Thanks for teaching your love of the game with us.
This is the FIRST pickleball video where ive actually learned how to move my body and approach the ball. Everyone else just talks the entire time and wont show what the action looks like by actually hitting the ball and doing it multiple times. People learn with repetition. So I really appreciate your videos!!!
Honestly as a tennis player playing more and more pickleball lately this is the best instruction video I have seen. Great production, clear explanation with positive vibes and encouragement throughout. Fantastic job both!
Honestly though I’m thankful for your channel I’m 39 athletic played basketball my whole life but to many ankle injured my days are done so my buddy got me into this. I learned a ton so far watching your videos. Thanks
OMG. Connor your explanation of the “stop light” of when to move up after the serve will change how I play from here on out. Everyone always told me not to up too fast. This was amazing advice. Thank you so much.
Mid- intermediate player here. Really liked the format and detail in the video. Like others have said, multiple camera angles help. Your sister is a quick learner with great skills from tennis. Thanks for making the vids - they are helping me get better!
I love his coaching; it's always on point. He seems to be a great human being, and that is what's most important! Thank you for all the hard work you put into the vids- I've been coaching for over 40 years, and I want to address one specific comment he made about "feet movement" in dinking related to the split step. While the full split step may not be the most efficient and might not be needed, having dead or cement feet is even worse. All great athletic movements require some type of pre-movement before the actual movement needed to make the shot (so no need to bring up archery). With this in mind, his comment about just standing there is not necessarily wrong, but it's both ineffective and inefficient for better and quicker reaction movements. Studies over the years have 100% proven that some type of pre/active movement, even small almost imperceptible movements, are far better than a static or stand-and-wait approach. At the end of the day, I imagine Connor would agree with me. After all, he's a great person with great information.
Hi Connor, 1st Kimmie is like a sponge, soaking all your advice up. And coach, your approach is so positive ! Great to see ! Plus you picked up so much from Kimmie's strokes, positioning and shot selections and used those opportunities to explain and improve her game. It was fantastic to see ! Cheers. Jim Pietro
I like the different camera angles to show the dynamic views behind, in front and on the sides of a point be played out or a technique being taught. Having two mobile cameras is a luxury but definitely separates you from creators using static tripod mounts and stitching together the different static angles.
Connor, I can see a full series of videos of a week by week progress of your sister growing in pickleball skills. That is, week by week, show a video of you or Drew playing against her, and then providing coaching tips. Next week or two later, another playing/coaching video with her. Again with coaching tips. The series could be in singles and/ or doubles. Hopefully, after a few months we will see a much more developed player!!!!!!
Excellent video. Covers so many great tips. One suggestion - turn to your side when showing paddle techniques so it's easier to see the side angle. Thanks for helping my game with your videos!!

Excellent video on fundamentals. I also came from a higher-level tennis background and my tennis tendencies had to be re-trained! Takes a little time but it gets there.
Really helpful video and now I’m a subscriber! What I might offer as a recommendation, is to offer these tips in an outline format that your subscribers can download and print to study and implement in their drills and practice days. You offer A LOT of information and in bite-sized pieces in a drill format these tips could really help people learn. Also, free lessons in print are great ways to get email addresses from subscribers. Just a suggestion.
Such a great video that teaches so much. It shows our typical amateur mistakes and then the correction. Kimmy should be special and play pro tennis and pro pickelball. I realize that would be difficult. If she switches to pickelball, she could also make a nice income modeling pickelball clothes. She is very attractive and athletic. Thanks for the unique lesson!
Love watching your videos👏 learning a lot. I’m a badminton player and just a pickleball beginner and i always use my wrist in PB🙈 cus in badminton we always use wrist😭 from philippines.
hey -I'm at min. 33. red/yellow/green paddle rule. If you're at the kitchen line and opponent is flashing red - what do you do? move back or stand your ground? do you back in stages - aka - kitchen to transition to baseline, getting a solid stance at each stage? the one rule i've been taught is to be set and solid before they strike on a red. if they are flashing yellow - you stay, right? this is kinda the start of a firefight. if flashing green - simple, stay and strategize. side, side, middle. other movement strategies? you've probably made a video! LOL.
I think the reason this doesn't have more views is that it is stuck in the middle ground as to what it is. In actuality, it is a super high value pickleball lesson for me. But the thumbnail and title seem to make it more about the girl. I think there's potential either way, it just has to commit in one direction or the other. Regardless, I am saving the vid. for strat.
I have a question about the net you're using: my understanding is that pball nets are supposed to be 2 inches lower in the middle (34") than on the sides (36"). Is this net the same height straight across? If so, is that because most parks don't have them set up properly and you're just dealing with it? I ask because that's the case with most of the parks by me, and I let it get in my head a bit sometimes.
Since playing pickleball, I have been trying to work on less is more with my feet work, but what is your take on constantly hopping? It seems like it takes more energy or is it a timing thing? Thank you!
I have the same issues with topspin dinks, the backhand is so much easier for me than forehand. do you still use a continental grip for topspin forehand dinks?
I think Kimmi is switching to pickleball pro soon, cause 10k likes is achievable. She looks natural, so press the Like button if you yet to do so! Go Kimmi!
if I am receiving the ball; Instead of running up to the kitchen line after my return; I take a couple of steps and do a split step stop and then continue to do this all the way to the kitchen so I maintain my balance to the kitchen line
If she is in the money as a tennis pro she would be crazy to switch as there is still way more money in tennis. (I love playing pickle ball for fun but f I was a top level player in ANY other sport I wouldn’t give that up for pickle ball.)
To be honest, this is the first tips video I've ever seen that specifically advocated *against* moving your feet up at the kitchen. Literally every other video I've watched has at least argued for moving your feet, doing a little shuffle step, being on your toes a little, etc. Yours is the first I've seen argue for remaining flat-footed, so to speak. What's the actual argument there? Is there a benefit to remaining still vs a negative to be moving some, besides conseving energy?
Is Kim going to play pickleball regularly while still playing tennis? I'm an advanced tennis player, wondering if it would be unwise to take up pickleball.
23:48 point to Kimmi. She won the point before he entered the kitchen. She got her balance, then she reacted to the ball you hit at the ground. Look at .25 speed
Nope. If she falls in before re-establishing her balance (regardless of whether the point is still in play or has finished), the opponent wins the point.
I don't understand why you are un-teaching her footwork, especially split stepping. Seems like it would still be necessary/good and the only reason you gave was less energy, but that makes no sense because it's pickleball lol you play to 11, right? Even with the weird scoring that's like half a set of tennis. Why use intentionally bad footwork?
