This is like emo for cool people. Usually I find depressing songs, well, depressing, but sometimes you're in a mood and a song like this is just what you need to show yourself you're not alone. Somebody wrote this song. Somebody felt like this.
😂 “I’m 15 years old and I feel it’s already too late to live..” *looks off into the distance dramatically* Have you really lived if you haven’t written bad teenage poetry and can’t look back on how embarrassing you were at one point in time?
OH MY GOD. Parts of this were filmed at my college!! What the heck. I saw this video in high school and didn't know but now that I've come back to it... My mind was just blown.

I know this is not from the 90's but damn it has that young 90's excitment to live! M83 always hit me in spots that I just froze in place because I knew it was too late to relive youthful dreams. This song will always be important to me, Thank you M83 for going there! That place no one ever sees.
Mid - Late 20s I lived in Miami, would drive around for no reason except to see things, listening to this album, bright sun and meaningless everywhere...once ended up just south of the Ft Lauterdale Airport, looking at big and barren industrial installations surrounded by tall grasses... on the other side to the west the developments into the everglades more and more uniform and sprawling, from malls across townships, sun baked down on half developed subdivisions, sometimes banyans turned over after hurricanes still upside down and gnarled, if you wanted you could head south to key biscayne and find some friends drinking on sandbars where the surf rolled back and forth, sickdays from work, falling in love with someone .... good and faraway times, I cant complain
This video always brings tears to my eyes... at around 1:58 when she puts the treat, kibble. and ball next the headstones. i did the same for my dog Reggie who is buried on the side of my house.
The video is just pure love...heard this years ago as well and it's so sweet and bittersweet and totally rakes me back to high school (I'm an 80s boy! graduated in 1990).. long live the Breakfast Club! and the devotion to animal cemeteries is precious ♥️❤️♥️ and I love when she runs away from the annoying dweeb who's trying to show her off at the party and she runs away and the sweet jock appears like a shimmery angel and bliss begins ... adorable!
This band sounds like they were put in a time capsule in the 80's and were just let out. When I listen to their songs I keep remembering all my favorite groups like OMD , New Order , ect, ect,
Death is her boyfriend She spits on summers and smiles to the night She collects crowns made of black roses But her heart is made of bubble gum Graveyard girl Graveyard girl Dark rags and red stars She's the dirty witch of her high school She worships Satan like a father But dreams of a sister like Molly Ringwald Graveyard girl Graveyard girl "I'm gonna jump the walls and run I wonder if they'll miss me? I won't miss them The cemetery is my home I want to be a part of it Invisible even to the night Then I'll read poetry to the stones Maybe one day I could be one of them Wise and silent Waiting for someone to love me Waiting for someone to kiss me I'm fifteen years old And I feel it's already too late to live Don't you?" Graveyard girl Graveyard girl Graveyard girl Graveyard girl
it's labeled "shoegaze" because of the sound. Lots of reverb, ethereal vocals, and whatever. Shoegaze was inspired by phil spector's music and his "wall of sound" production technique. Dreamy stuff.
I was an 80s kid too, & while much about me has changed over the years, I have always been true to who I am. No matter how old you get, you never have to give up your individuality. Being like everyone else, or trying/pretending to, is disingenuous. Repression is not healthy. If everyone conformed we would have no great scientists, inventors, explorers, artists (writers, painters, musicians, etc), activists, philosophers, etc. Where would we be if no one had the courage to be different?
Man, this video can't get any closer to a John Hughes teen movie mish mash of Sixteen Candles & The Breakfast Club & Pretty in Pink. I mean, the title character Graveyard Girl is the composite of Allison from TBC (the furry hoodie, black make up, and gothness) and Sam/Andy from 16Candles/Pink (the red hair and that darn Molly Ringwald resemblance) . Damn you M83 for igniting my 80's memories and for a good reason too! :D You rock.
These videos are amazing. It's like a frigging experience watching them and hearing the music.

the memories, wow, i remember seeing this on the tv, first song i heard from M83, loved it, still do :) i was like... 13 back then (nevermind the profile pic, sister, not me)
That's why the "real" indie musicians today for the most part are all the noise bands (mostly in the USA) that The Wire dubbed New Weird America about five years ago but at the same time there are pockets all around the world of independent hip-hop, gospel and r&b artists that are doing stuff that sounds really pop (for lack of a better term). Indie-rock is definitely mainstream these days whereas some forms of formerly pop/mainstream music are in sharp decline.
I came back to this song because this always been my favorite. I remember back in 2015 or 2016 when M83 were performing in Kuala Lumpur and there was this moment after they played "Wait" if I'm not mistaken and the crowd were screaming for one more song and it got silent for a sec and there I was creaming PLAY GRAVEYARD GIRL i think the whole place can hear it and the crowd were cheering YEAAA! But sadly they played another song but that was an incredible moment for me. Love you guys
Saw these guys open for The Killers last night. They're obviously good and talented and their closing track was SICK - it was an instrumental and it rocked. My only criticism is that they're a bit dreamy, in sound delivery but I'm sure thats intentional and many people love that.
i'm the only one who find this band in 2015?i can't belive it...where i;ve been living since now?!:)) m 83 have such a beautifull songs.this is one of my favourite..
They managed to cram an entire John Hughes 80's movie into a music video. Awesome.
Bet you feel old knowing I don’t know much about of John Hughes XD
@@jessbunni5177 nobody cares jess

hey its been 14 years
Tapping in on 2024. This is still awesome.
I still come back to this song time to time....
I haven't heard this song in so long. I used to watch this in college and be like "omg so relatable". lol.

If this were a movie, it'd be my favorite.
For sure!
2:06 For the interlude, they directly channeled the souls of a thousand middle school girls
OH MY GOD. Parts of this were filmed at my college!! What the heck. I saw this video in high school and didn't know but now that I've come back to it... My mind was just blown.

Wow, what a song. John Hughes would be proud.Recommended because someone said “Milk” by The 1975 was inspired by this. Glad I found it. ❤
This made me nostalgic. I miss my younger years. When times were much more simple and fun.
Grow up and stop living in the past

Guitar sounds like New Order
This song will never get old!!!! Brings back great memories, thanks M83!!
The loss of a pet who gave unconditional love & companionship is worthy of musical & film impression.
Que bonita, tanto tiempo escuchandola y siempre suena como la primera vez ❤
This has been my first time hearing this song, now going on 10 replays.
This song makes me feel old
John Hughes called and wants his entire canon of work condensed into this video back! Ineffably sublime portrait of teen angst. Brilliant as always.
I love this, I love this, I love this. The softness of the light, the colors, the story, the song, the winking ghost dog in the sky.
The 1975-the 1975 reminded me of m83 and this reminded me of the 1975...
Their song milk was heavily inspired by this song
@@joshuatomos thats pretty cool!

Same here. & haha i was born in 1993 while, my fiancé was born in 1990.
This video explains how it is to be different. I will always be different.
cause the 80's rocked!! thats why they did it.
M83. Modern talent. Nice job men!
Your point has actually been proven. I have a friend who cannot understand the concept of irony or sarcasm, and yet, he liked this.
