    It would be interesting to see if anyone has actually worn this model in a combat environment. I wore a G shock when we invaded Iraq. It was put to the test. I even passed it on to my son. He wore it when he deployed to Iraq and Syria. I just wonder if this watch could do the same ? I really like the Hamilton.

      I don't think they would be used today as they have an inaccuracy of about 3 seconds per day compared to quartz/digitals which have the same inaccuracy but per year. Also these mechanical Hamiltons with manual winding have only 50 meters water resistance which is not much.

The culture really was big ass watches and price was a big deal. We did not make much money. I have the black dial version and am very happy with it. I wind it daily to top it up and yes you develop a connection with the watch more than an automatic as you mention. I prefer the black dial even though it's a little less readable as reflections are more noticeable with darker dials but it doesn't draw attention to itself, field watches don't want attention. It does look really good with the white dial though.

      Can I ask you sir, would you say it’s fragile and easy to break when winding your watch? I heard from many people that if you wind it just a little more than you should the mechanical parts inside might detach from the crown…and how it’s handling humid environment due to its 50m water resistance? I’m so in love with this watch but I’m overthinking cause of these 2 factors…thank you in advance🙏😊

    • @anthonystevens8683
      @anthonystevens8683 Год назад +1

      @@evangelosstamatakis2559 I would not say it's fragile from my experience. When you wind it you will feel a sudden difference in winding resistance. At that point it will be fully wound. If you force it beyond you could damage it but it is pretty obvious when it's fully wound. It's pressure resistance of 5 bar (50M) should handle humid environments fine as it's not under pressure. If you get a chance I'd suggest trying this watch or another manual mechanical wind watch to feel when it's fully wound. It'll also give you a chance to see and feel it on the wrist. It's good to ask questions if you are unsure, I hope that this helps.

      Winding is very smooth and requires little pressure. It tightens up when fully wound and it's easy to know when to stop. I think you'd have to be pretty ham-fisted to damage it.

    I'm generally not that into the Hamilton designs for some reason (maybe a bit bland / boring) but I do like the Khaki field and may pick on up one day. Looks pretty good. However, they are pretty expensive in Australia ($900 AUD), so still a bit too nice to scratch up and destroy imo. More a casual summer watch for me! I would probably get a one of the Citizen eco drives in a field watch style, for the hard hiking uses. A third of the price, no need to set it, cheap and still robust. Wouldn't care too much if it gets destroyed. Wearing my new Rado DiaStar Original today with the blue dial and loving it. :)

      @@evangelosstamatakis2559 I mostly left my most worn watches in the bathroom. Whilst I couldn't see my face in the mirror due to the condensation after the shower, I found no fog or condensation under the crystal of this watch. To be fair, my Cartier Tank or even the MoonSwatches with only 30m WR and no screw down crown also have no issue of steam penetrating the watch.
      Again, I may be lucky.
      Winding the crown of Khaki Field is also smooth, I can feel the increasing resistance and the point of "stop winding or you'll break it" when it reaches its limit.
      I'm fairly gentle with my watches, especially when operating the crown since I know the risk of overwinding. Thus, I have never experienced any crown related issues.

    This IS the best field watch for the money, but I'm sorry to say, the way you pitched it doesn't work. If one wants a watch to wear outdoors and not worry about, get a G-Shock. This is for people who appreciate history and purposefulness, but in the context of that history. The 50m water resistance and no screw down crown is a big let-down, especially at this price. But I understand why they did it and I adore the hand wound movement. I've taken this watch hiking a lot of times, because it just elevates that experience. However, I was worried when doing river crossings, what if I slip, will my watch survive? Probably it will. But that peace of mind is not there. So now I hike with my G-Shock.
