One of my favorite rifles in my collection. I also bought the 38-55 barrel at the same time as the 45-70. I have 5 gal. propane tank on a steel tripod set out at 500 yards on my hill behind my house. I can shoot it all day. I am not going to say it doesn't recoil a little but I can shoot it for several hours without much discomfort and certainly no bruises. So it doesn't kick any harder than my 12 gauge model 1897 which bruised me even with a Morgan recoil pad installed.

The buffalo Classic is one of the most enjoyable rifle to shoot of any that I have ever owned. I bought the 38-55 barrel to go with it, but now I can never find commercial ammo for that caliber. The 45-70 has a trajectory like a rainbow, but it is a tack driver at 500 yds. A very pleasant afternoon every time.

Liked watching you shoot..but you didn't show were you are hitting or anything..I have a 45..70..but mine is a c.v.a...and those heavier bullets do thump you pretty hard

if you look at the camera that has the 250 yard range sign on it you can see I'm hitting just to the right
