My introduction to Chinese dramas was Nirvana in Fire and Hu Ge. Having started from the pinacle, you know my experience of C-dramas will only go downhill from there, LOL.
This is no exaggeration at all. Since then I have watched lots of dramas, and while many were good or even excellent, Nirvana in Fire still stands head over shoulders above the rest. It's gratifying and frustrating and awe inspiring all at once.

When I was young I literally had a crush on Hu Ge and only Hu Ge for 7 straight years lol! 😂 Everyone in my family knows his name and nowadays, because I'm still single as a pringle, my family would joke that it's because Hu Ge set my bar too high 😆😆😆
@Stacey Xiong I can relate! My grandparents had Chinese Paladin 1 dubbed in Hmong and I always borrowed it to watch Hu Ge 💖. I was only 4 back then and I still remember watching it on those boxed TV while my older siblings went to school 😅

Hu Ge is such a complex and diverse talent. He is one of the few actors I could name, from any country, with the potential to be internationally renown for his work. I would love to see him in some international movies. I can picture him as James Bond and at the same time, I could picture him as one of Bonds iconic adversaries. Hes just so versatile. There is no part he could not play. Hero, spy, terrorist, father, lover. There are so few actors of his caliber.

I first saw Hu Ge in Love of the Condor Heroes 10 years ago in TV. The net back then is not the same as it is now so I wasn't able to see his other works. When I started binge watching cdramas this year, I saw him in Sound of the Dessert and I couldn't get over him. I watched NIF because of him and I still couldn't get over him 😭 I want more dramas with Huge in it.

Hu Ge is my favorite Chinese actor and possibly my favourite actor. He's pretty famous in Myanmar because of his roles in several xianxia/wuxia stories like Chinese Paladin and the Condor Heroes but I fell in love with him because of Chinese Paladin 3 and Xuan Yuan Jian: Tian Zhi Hen. I actually started learning Chinese because I really wanted to follow his news online and at that time, Hu Ge's name is hard to google. Search engines just thought it's a typo of "huge" lol I'm glad he's getting recognized internationally especially because of Nirvana in Fire. He deserves it.
I watched Nirvana in Fire after watching a review from her😁and that was one my best decision. I wasn't into chinese drama that time .and about Hu Ge acting no need to say anything. But I find his personality is very dignified . I don't see any new drama from him long time.Its sad. Hope when he will be back ,he will shine like a star in the sky again!

In my almost 3 years of c-drama watching, I never heard of Hu Ge and coz RUclips recommended Nirvana in my feed I clicked it. Best recommendation ever. I just finished watching it last week and now sits in my top list. Hu Ge was amazing😍🙌🏻. I started Nirvana 2 but I really didn’t feel it so I’ll pass for now.

I don’t know if it’s true, but I’ve seen reports that he was not the first choice for Mei Chang Su. The first choice was Huang Xiao Ming but he couldn’t fit it into his schedule so the fan votes demanding Hu Ge became a determining factor in his casting. It’s interesting to me that the car accident became a relief from the pressure of his ascending career. And about a decade later, he put the brakes on it himself just when it was ascending even higher than last time.
Just finished watching NIF I and I am fangirling so hard over Hu Ge and Wang Kai. Also, just realized that Xiao Zhan is playing the same role as Hu Ge did in the play...wow! Crumbs ig hehe
I found out about Hu Ge because I was a fan of Ariel Lin and so I got sucked into watching Little Fairy, which was my first Chinese drama. the two things I remember most was Hu Ge was awesome and the fact that they dubbed over Ariel's voice with someone else's, which was rather upsetting at the time. that drama introduced me to a great actor and I've been his fan ever since.
I know him, i like him, i knew him from Chinese paladin 1 (2005), Chinese paladin 3, Legend of the condor hero 2008, Xuan yuan Sword etc, he played so tragic hero role. I know that he had an accident during Legend of condor hero, i'm relieved that he was fine after this accident but has just litle scar on his face

They have helped me learn new words.I never knew I’d fall in love with Chen Kun and Hu Ge. I started Nirvana in Fire and Hu Ge is 非常好！I’m such a fan now. I don’t even watch American dramas anymore. Hu Ge in Nirvana in Fire // Lang Ya Bang was my third direct experience with Chinese drama, and the second one I finished. I was reading a silly web novel and I saw that it had an adaption but it wasn't very good. Then I constantly saw episode 30 of Eternal Love being in the 'up next' suggestions and I just clicked it once and thought it looked interesting, so I stopped watching ep 30 and went to ep 1. I thought that while this chinse Drama thing was pretty different, I did enjoy it, lets see some more. Then I went on some C drama site to see what to watch next and it recommended Nirvana in Fire so I watched that. To be completely honest, since that time I have been constantly disappointed. There's really nothing out there that even close to Approaching Nirvana. :( Such a good story with a clear begin and end. Also, it came as a very big shook to me that nearly all the characters Chinese drama or not voiced by the actors portraying the character that it still kinda bothers me when I watch. It's very weird to watch Eternal Love again and to know that the voices of Mark Chao and Yang Mi aren't ever heard. I understand by now why this is necessary but it's still something my western mind will have to get used to. The only drama that is in my watchlist atm is .. Uh. Joy of Life I think?
I like his drama "Sounds of the Desert". The storyline is a very good. But I see it's Nirvana in Fire that bring him to international audience. This drama also bring China entertainment industry by storm.
I thought it was Fairy Wonderland/Seven in the Sky that Hu Ge filmed right after his car crash? If i remember he couldn't do his action scenes for The Legend of the Condor Heroes so they filmed Fairy Wonderland/Seven in the Sky before going back to finish Condor Heroes.
