I think in ALL situations, you have to weigh the risks and benefits. If you get ill, you fight a cold different than say, cancer. You'd never use cancer meds for a cold. However, often we go into pest control like fighting cancer. We pull out all the guns to kill everything immediately, damn the consequences (or being ignorant of any potential consequences). BUT...There is a time and place for stronger substances. There is a reason our grandparents invented these chemicals and chose to implement them in farming practices. We are so far removed from the true volatility of potential food insecurities that we often become arrogant in our views on pest control & other management methods. We must start to think smarter, read for ourselves and strive for proper balance. See products like Sevin, as an option, not the rule. We must start using the correct medicine for the issues we have.
I’m not sure using “fleas” is a good example for all insects. Fleas are known for their tolerance and built up resistance to insecticides. But I could be wrong!
It seems like only looking at LD50 is a very narrow scope of toxicity (acute) and says nothing about chronic toxicity (Glyphosate, anyone?). The label states that it is a cholinesterase inhibitor, which, from a quick Google search, it seems to inhibit nervous system function. There are also reproductive damage concerns. I'm not saying anything about Carbaryl, just that the scope of the video, probably due to the time constraints we all face, couldn't really get into the nitty gritty of all the possible concerns with any chemical. Perhaps review the name for the video so it is a little less misleading, perhaps something like "How much Sevin dust does it take to kill someone instantly?" or add a little bit about other reasons it is safe and answer questions folks might have such as "How many years has it been around?", "Why did California require a prop65 warning?"
to bad Carbaryl is not in your sevin you buy from stores. seven is now a different compound ZETA-CYPERMETHRIN. not sure how i feel about this. you can still buy Carbaryl. you just need to make sure you know your active ingredients. seven and Carbaryl were always known to be together. i found it odd people always referred to it as seven. i tend to use the active ingredient names instead of brands. its very confusing this way. its like saying i use Bayer insecticide. ok which one. it just makes more sense to say the active ingredient first.
I've used Sevin on cats, dogs and poultry before the topical flea kilkers were around. I still put it on poultry. So far so good. I'll definitely check the label now.

Well said!

They didn't face a time restraint, this was either pure laziness or paid for by Monsanto for shilling Glyphosate.

Thx. I didn't know.

As of July 2021, the Sevin Dust you can buy at Home Depot is Carbaryl based.
Does these chemicals destroy any plant if you find insects on the plants life carrots?
What can I do if I find a lot of tick through my plants amd I use these chemicals what for I do plant over by another area
Is this a commercial for Monsanto? Glyphosate doesn't have to kill you immediately to be dangerous. Over time, it's looking pretty darn bad!
Sevin is the best and maybe only way to stop potato bugs
Does seven dust work on carpenter ants?
Does anyone know if it kills the microbial life in soil?
Bleach
Sevin is nothing to take lightly.
I rather say, down with Sevin and up with frogs!!!!
This guy just sat there and goal post moved every time something negative came up about his sales pitch.
If you're still living, it must be pretty safe.
Yup. Living with all kinds of neurological issues and autoimmune issues yes. That's quality living 🙄
