  • 2023 Rieju MR 300 Pro. This bike comes decked out with a ton of good parts, it's like the KTM erzberg but instead of bling is quality parts. Here's my first impression of it on the trail.
Check these bikes out at Let's Ride Powersports in Heyburn Idaho. Randy knows this bike really well and will get you setup.

I current own a 22 rieju 300 mr pro and a 23 sherco 300 factory and have had tpi bikes in the past. All I can say is the rieju is the most fun bike I’ve ever owned. Snappy power band with a lot of top end. The forks are more plush then the sherco and more versatile then the wp. I’ve put 150 hard hrs on the rieju and the only thing that’s gone bad is the starter “common issue” good thing it’s got a kick start. Glad you enjoy the bike!

@@TrailBoundco 2018-2019 Gasgas ones didn't start the best because of a combination of things, undersized wires, lower wattage starter motor, underpowered battery, a bendix cover with a bush not a bearing, and a dry system that no one did the necessary re greasing on. The Reijus have dramatically improved on it, bigger wires, more powerful battery, 410w starter, and a wet system. Provided you change the oil they're pretty good now! Usually if someone has issues with the Rieju starter, it's the battery dying, or the bearing in the bendex cover wearing out, often caused by improper oil maintenance. And occasionally there is the odd part defect with the Bendix itself, though usually covered under warranty.
I know of people with 600 trouble free hours on the 2018-2019 gasgas starters with just the necessary improvements to make it on par with the Rieju upgrades

It's the old GasGas. The platform has had a lot of development. Just before KTM acquired GasGas their GP model was the most powerful 300cc out of the box. I have friends who rode with these and most of them de-tuned the engine to make it more manageable. Alfredo Gomez rides Rieju in the hard enduro series. And the ranger model you referenced is a competitor to Beta X-trainer - much more tame and a good beginner bike with possibility to mod it for more extreme races.

Comparing the geometry of the bike with the KTM group, Sherco and TM, I noticed that the Rieju has a ridebility towards Enduro GP, desert style, fast stuff vs the others that lean more the tight singletracks.
So I raised the forks all the way (about 15mm) to the handlebars to make it more nimble.

Liked it so much I bought another ec300 and have around 100 hours on it so far this year. Its a dead nuts reliable engine/clutch in a Heavy Duty KTM style chassis with amazing KYB suspension and Yamaha brakes. I've beat the shit out of these bikes and tossed them off cliffs, and taken some gnarly diggers at speed without any subframe damage or tweakage, they are built like tanks. Most planted bikes in the rocks but they are 20-25 lbs heavier than the ktms but I only notice when you have to pick them up off a hill side

A friend of mine had one / the Pro model. Which is spec’d unbelievably well with suspension unlike anything I’ve ridden. Can’t stress that enough; the KYB with the Technical Touch tune is amazing.

    Great video as usual!
I own a 19 GasGas EC 300 basically the same bike. My quick thoughts:
Motor is great very strong and linear and you can really change the characteristics with the power valve adjustment and the map switch (11/2 to 2 turns om the PV and rain map works well in the gnar)
Carb tuning - mine was set up by the dealer for local conditions before it left the shop . No need to change since
Vibration only noticeable if you ride a lot of fire roads - harden up princess!
Suspension - top notch - added some preload to the back - set the clickers - at 100 kg that's all I needed
Handling - very stable (an underrated characteristic) but still flickable enough in the tight stuff
Weight - sure not the lightest - got to the gym more!
Starter system - no end of issues which are still ongoing :(
Despite this a great bike - very underrated

A very underrated bike that everyone over looks. the resale is also terrible on them which is unfortunate. I had a 2018 GG 300 ec that I tried to use for a rental bike for the East coast Hard enduro series and nobody wanted it, even though it's a pure weapon in the technical stuff. yes its "heavier" than the other brands but it has a kickstart, a decent sized fuel tank and a tough reliable motor which comes at a cost of a little extra weight. The E start can be finicky but when you get it sorted out it starts lightning fast and it does not have a counter balancer which does not bother me. I had a guy on a YZ bashing the e start on my GG when I had it. I just said at least I have one.

The best thing to happen out of that situation was to get on the KYB rear shock. Straight out of the box, I've never been so happy with a stock suspension and the motor on that bike is absolutely magical. The Beta convinced my best friend to sell his 4-stroke and come back to the smoke side. He actually ended up on a Rieju due to a great deal from the local dealership. I have an 18' old gasgas and have ridden a 22 rieju. The jetting is complete garbage out of the box, they are about 10kg heavier than the ktm group (and you can really feel that), the fuel consumption is ass (about 60-70km per tank with any sort of pace in an enduro setting), they vibrate quite and the absolute worst part is the starting system. Starters will not last in the stock 12v configuration and running 24v to the starter is a bit bothersome.
They're neat bikes, the power is pretty good, low end bark is pretty great compared to tpi bikes and the chassis/suspension is pretty good as well. But you've got to keep in mind that they're selling a near 20 year old engine with a starter tacked on with tape and scraps of wire.

Reiju are Spanish, so the "J" is kind of silent ("ray-hue"). These bikes are based off the older pre-KTM GasGas enduro models. No massive changes from 2019 through to now, which unfortunately includes them keeping ridiculous 2015 KTM style electric start. This is the single biggest let down of these bikes, and something not easily rectified. Definitely an issue owners will run into if they're doing technical riding with lots of stopping and restarting - it is a complex and inefficient starting system compared to what most other bikes run. Aside from that they are a very competent bike and have lots of brand-name components on them, great value for money too.

Not sure what year its..... That is because the design dates way back to before gas gas was purchased by KTM. Like 18 or so? Not sure any major improvements have been done. More so just refinement. I have ridden that old motor. It's for sure a paint mixer! Not to say it can't work thought.

Paint mixer? As in it vibrates?
