After having memorised the entire rules of darts and just being here to check, this video explains the rules very well, and gets bonus points for not calling the bullseye a 'double bull'. If I had to explain the rules to anyone, anywhere, this video would be perfect.
Thanks. And yes, a lot of people have tried to 'correct' me by saying that it's a 'double bull', but that's strictly not officially true.
@@NinhLyUK Correct! The term 'double bull' should never be used when talking about 01 games.
*Ninh Explains*
_And he explains it really well_
Thanks, glad this video helps.

This was explained well but I think these rules are kinda stupid... I’d rather play and win by hitting the bullseye, or near it as many times as you can. Hitting a bullseye 3 times should be a good thing
@@becarefulwhatyoufish4764 I don't think it's stupid. If you want to hit bull almost all the time I suggest playing soft tip darts, however you'd still need to use maths to finish.
I like how you keep the videos short and sweet, makes it easy to learn about multiple sports easily and quickly.
That's the idea!
im startinfg to learn lol
oh good, i'll come back here for other sports then!
I'm from southern California, and I would watch this on TV when I was a kid all the time. my parents thought i was weird
It's a cool sport and mesmerising to watch. Thanks bro.
Playing Dart 🎯 with old friends really is a great feelings but having my credit cleared and CS raised is one of the best thing that has ever happened to me.
You had debt removed off your credit?
HOLLY MOLLY!! THIS EXIST??!
@@garypitt3624 ABSOLUTELY BS!!
lol that up there was always my reaction until late last year I got financially crippled, took the risk and witnessed the magic myself!
@@fredlanga7134 How the heck was that possible, cpns sort of process?
@@garypitt3624 lmao 🤣
the atmosphere and the crowd at these events are electric.
Bro is right on point.
Looks like a fun way to teach addition, substraction and multiplication.
Finally i can play dart in gta 5
I think they only play 301 in GTA V, but yes, same rules apply.
Ha ha i agree with you ninh
I m here for the quick lesson too 😂
Same and now I can play dart in gta 5 right now.
Great to know I’m not the only one
"I was told there'd be no Math."
Lololol
Same bro
As soon as I learned math was involved, I knew I was in trouble. 😩

Ok now know a lot more than I did a few minutes ago. Will still take time to memorize these rules but thank you. I think you're the same guy that I watched to learn snooker rules a few weeks back. Also another good video to go watch.

Am a 63yo yank recovering from brain surgery, and couldnt remember how to play. Came across a board hung on my brother's deck, so ordered a kit from Amazon and relied on a you tuuber to remind me! For my generation, a narrator must speak the Queen's Eng! Many thanks to the mommy country!
Thank you 😊
Thanks man, much appreciated!
Awesome
I have some extra things for you:
Bust: when you go over your 501 e.g if you have D1 (2) leftand you accidently hit 20 you go back to 2. Also if you hit single 1 then you also bust.
Yorkshire Darts: the same game except without any trebles and there's also no 25 ring.
5s Darts: a dartboard that has only 5,10,15 and 20 segments. The segments are much larger but the throwing distance is 9 ft.
A dart cannot exceed the length of 12 inches and the weight must not exceed 50g.
I can also remember one or two occasions where a set isn't played to the best of 5 legs. I can remember that the World Masters is best of 3 legs for a set. That tournament still goes on to this day and it started in 1974.
Yeah in hindsight, I probably should have explained bust.
But the rest ... I didn't want to go into any of the regional variations for fear of confusing people.
Thanks.
my favorite game of darts is cricket.
I used to practice every day. I have a computerized dartboard where I can play the computer with 5 different levels of computer skill. I practiced so much in one day that when I woke up the next day my hand was swollen twice it's size.. So many different games in darts.
I’m just digging they used Chelsea Dagger as their backing track
Well spotted!
Come back Ninh!
Good video
Thanks
Makes darts look interesting.
It actually is. Once you get into the sport, it's actually kinda cool.
Another great video of such a great sport. Do you have any other rule of sport videos in mind. They make me watch sports for a lot longer than I usually did. Cheers for another awesome video mate and I'll look forward to more in the future
Hi Alex. I've got a whole bunch of sports up my sleeve! Thanks for sticking around my channel - I'm sure you'll learn more about some weird and wonderful stuff on here!
Ninh Ly looking forward to it already
I have a nice video idea for you
The difference between NHL and International Ice Hockey rules
Could be helpful for many.
Only minor rule differences - I doubt anybody would watch that. It's largely the same game. Thanks anyway.
Thanks a lot!
Thanks Lenin, much appreciated.
Ah now i know how to play. My buddies and i always count the highest number of bullseyes as a win. We usually get to a win with 2-3 xD we arent good.
Great vid been searching everywhere. Thank you
What gets me is the crowd and announcer. Large crowds that get super hyped. Also the same announcer is always on every match, lol. They way they yell 180 is unique
They used to have a guy called Maurice Fitzsimmons who was iconic at doing that. I think the guy you're referring to is Russ Bray - he's good, but not a patch on Maurice. And the crowds ... alcohol helps. Lots of it!
@@NinhLyUK
Didn't they get rid of thec alcohol after this sketch?

Good video, I bought a nice Dart board just for fun when Im bored but I didnt know how to play this, also on the other side of the Board there is a BASEBALL GAME, I dont know how to play it either...
Thanks, I'm glad this video helps you out. But I have no idea what 'Baseball' is as it pertains to a Dartboard?!
@@NinhLyUK on some dartboards, there is a black and white side that has some sort of baseball game on it to play with darts. The original poster said they got a nice board, but I've only seen the game on the cheaper ones.
Great video could u do hand ball ( the one where u hit the ball against a wall) thanks
There's so many variations of that particular game ... American Hand Ball, Gaelic Hand Ball - besides i can't seem to find decent video footage enough to show relevant examples.
Yes, great explanation for gta players over there :)
If you love the darts stand up!
Darts is so entertaining.
It certainly is.
I’m the 8,000th like!
Thanks,
Anytime bro, hope this video helps!
What happens if you're playing 501 and you've scored 500? Instant loss?
No, you basically don't score for that throw, and have to start from there.
For example, you require 16 (which is double 8). you hit double 16 (which is 32) instead. You've gone way over and your throw is over.
On your next attempt, you have to go for 16 (double 8) again. And hopefully you won't go over this time.
In 301 darts, the minimun darts for perfect game is 6 known as 6 darts finish.
Several questions, 1. If a player finishes a leg, do both players start a new leg with 501 or is the losing player required to finish their current leg. 2 When a dart falls out it no longer scores, correct? So when you showed the 1 dart knocking out the other 2, I was confused on the scoring. Were you meaning the dart(s) that were knocked out no longer scored but the one that stuck did, the one that stuck didnt but the knocked out ones did, or neither the sticking dart or the knocked out dart scored? 3. Is there a time limit similar to a shot clock in basketball? where you have a set time limit one you approach the Oche to throw our darts? And if so does the time reset for each dart or is it cumulative?
Excellent questions!
1) If a player finishes a leg legally, then a new leg begins immediately and both players start from 501 again.
2) Correct. If a dart bounces out, it scores nothing. If you hit a dart out, the dart that sticks counts. The dart that falls out does not.
3) Officially there is no time limit. This results in players intentionally speeding up or slowing down their throw to put off their opponent. But you can be warned or disqualified for refusing to throw.
Hope that helps?
Thank you, This makes sense now. I really want to learn more traditional pub & bar games. I know American 8 & 9 Ball Pool, Shut the Box (which I play at home), shuffleboard and I know some card games. I have played 301 and for the most part know enough to play recreationally, but along with Snooker, English Pool, Dominos, Devil Among the Tailors, American 10 ball and Straight Pool and others, Darts is one I would really enjoy learning more about. Since my previous comment I have viewed and enjoyed several of your EXPLAINED videos. I hope to find or see in the near future some of the other games I have listed. American 10 is one I really am having a hard time finding stuff on that is for a complete novice. I also plan to watch your self help videos. Do you have one on self promotion? I am a freelance Graphic Designer, but I really have no budget for advertising. The clients I have gotten from Craigslist love my work, but they are few and far between its so competitive. Anyway, Happy New Year, You have a new subscriber in me, great job and I lok forward to more of your quality videos!
Awesome, thanks Bruce!
Pub games are pretty awesome. They're considered to be actual seriously professional sports here in the UK.
As for self-help videos, I don't have one on self-promotion. but I know exactly what your predicament is being a self-employed graphic designer myself. The key is to be almost shameless in your promotion. Literally everywhere and everyone. Because remember - no-one hires a graphic designer that they don't know about.
Good luck bro!
Thank you, It is hard. I gotta get over my fear of rejection and just "bomb" everything as the graffiti artists say. You're not the first to tell me that, but I think Im ready to try it.
I've never seen a televised game before that uses the double start rule and I didn't even know it existed, do you know of any major tournaments that use this rule??
The World Grand Prix in Dublin is an example where the double start is used. The clip I showed shows Phil Taylor missing 9 consecutive doubles. Scored zero. Ouch.
Wow haha, I shall have to give it a watch later in the year. It usually takes me at least 20 darts at the end just to finish on a double.
I used to be really good at darts as a kid - don't think I could actually hit the damn thing anymore.
Can you do The Rules of Roller Derby?
It's on the list, but I'm struggling to find decent HD footage to illustrate all my points.
Something I'm unsure of that the video didn't touch on is what happens if you don't end on a double? What happens if you need 2 to go out (so a double 1), and hit the single/double/triple 20 on accident?
Ah yes, that's called 'bust' and your throw is invalid and it's the end of your turn. I forgot to put that in. Sorry!
Great video!!
Could you make a video on Pelota Vasca?
It would be nice
Hi Fabian. Thanks for the comment. But I have no idea what Pelota Vasca is?!
It's a basque sport
I'm watching this during the corona virus quarantine because this is one of the few sports that I can wager on. I always want to somewhat understand something before I wager on it. For today, I"m wagering on the "PDC Home tour." My bet? Dave Chisnall vrs Jan Dekker. I took Dave Chisnall -1.5 (-160). So, I'm rationally concluding that for the final score, Dave C. has to win by at least 2 set/legs in order for me to win this bet. IF Dave Chisnall wins by 1 or loses outright, I lose my bet...
Yeeshh.. Final score 5-0 Dave Chisnall. Looks like an easy winner..
Great win.
I figured out the rules of darts when I was high.
Chelsea Dagger is the Blackhawks GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL song
Certainly is!
شكرًا
نعم شكرا لك!
You should do Pesäpallo next
Not enough demand for that one, sorry.
Slavic Desankovs That would be cool! Too bad it isn't that popular
could you do a rules of bmx racing please?
Never been asked for that one before. If I get enough demand, for sure. But you're the only one that's asked so far.
think the only thing you didn't mention was busting unless I missed that
Yeah, missed that out.
But it seems that you know the rules already.
Hey Ninh, thanks for the great video, could you do the rules of Squash or rounders? Thanks, subbed and liked ;)
Squash, yes it's on the list but it's way down there. Rounders, no. Not played professionally, no video footage to be found. Ta.
The length of this video is 4:20 Nice
Okay.
How many darts would you need to throw for a perfect game in 301? and what would be the ideal combination?
Six darts for a perfect 301 finish.
(301) T20 T20 T20(121) T20 D11 D14
Great video! Thank you so much for the information. One doubt though; what if a player has to score just 2 points to finish. Instead of hitting double 1, if he hits more points like 20 or 18, then are these points ignored or he loses the round?
Basically yeah. If you score more than you need, it's known as 'bust' and your turn is over (because you've gone over). It's then your opponents turn. Going bust is a nightmare and can easily lose you games. Hope that helps?
Perfect, thank you so much. It clears my doubt and now it will be even more exciting to play the game! Your video has elevated my interest in darts! Cheers!
You're welcome Harshad! :)
@@harshadnemade I'm assuming your Indian and live in India. Even I live in India and am interested in darts. How do you recommend me to start darts
another thing, if you go down to exactly 1 point, that's also a bust, as there's no way to score 1 point on a double, and so is going down to exactly 0 NOT on a double
Could you do the rules on international rules a mix of Aussie rules and gaelic football?
Way ahead of you. Already recorded the script, but it won't be ready for a couple of weeks.
In 301 darts there's the 6 dart finish (T20 T20 T20, T20 T17 D5) or (T20 T20 T20, T20 T7 D20) or (T20 T20 T20, T20 T9 17)
I've a question: What happens when a player is missing 2 to win, but instead of hitting double 1, he accidently, hits the 20?
Ah yes, I forgot to mention. Should you go over - this is known as 'bust' and it's the end of your turn.
Your throw is disqualified and it's now your opponents turn.
If/when it's your turn again, you try and go for the same thing as before.
Does that help?
It does! Thank you very much!
PS: I really enjoy your vids. Keep up the great work!
Thanks, I appreciate that a lot. Cheers :)
Nice video length
Thanks bro.
A question to the public and Ninh ly (if you know any)
Who is your favouraite darts player?
Another question: Should darts be in the Olympics?
My favouraite player is really hard to choose cos I know loads.
It has to be the man who started it all, he launched the World Championships back in '78 and was a star player BEFORE the world championship started.
The first ever BDO World Champion in 1978, The Marathon Man, LEIGHTON REES!
I traditionally liked Eric Bristow - but even though Darts fits all the requirements of an Olympic sport, the warring governing bodies of darts would never agree.
Hmmm I never really liked Brissy.
My favouraite has gotta be the Gentleman himself. Three times world champion. John Lowe!
Ayyyyyy Gary Anderson
Good impression!
do rules of shin kicking
William Smith He has touched on shin kicking in an earlier video on strange sports. He didn't mention that it is, technically, a martial art.
As TRig said, i covered it in my weirdest sports video. Not really a lot to say about it other than what I said.
Ninh Ly I'm joking do bowling instead
My small size would prevent me from actually playing regulation darts. I would, however, be great at keeping score in a game of darts!
