When You Believe is a song from Prince of Egypt, the animated musical movie about Moses, by DreamWorks. PhantaCity was a program where they paired a singer with a director, and gave them three days to come up with a script, rehearse the mini musical, then act and edit it live behind stage. That was Dimash’s first foray into acting. As you said, now, he is a veteran of music videos. No, he has never kissed an actress in any video, except close enough to appear as if he did, in the MV for Golden.
Dimash makes us cry just with his voice! Yes he'd be a great actor, he strives so hard for perfection in all that he does, and his natural humility and sweetness always shines through. Even as a vampire he had that sympathetic vibe. He'd make a great villain as well as a great hero, a fascinating peasant and an awesome king. I really enjoyed this John ,a very young Dimash for sure . To my knowledge Dimash has never kissed any woman on screen for his videos . He has said though “ I’m over twenty of course I have kissed “ then laughed about it . There are hints now though in his upcoming music video “ smoke “there will be a romantic kiss . The song, If I Never Breathe Again was written about a true story where a young woman is diagnosed with terminal cancer soon after she is engaged. This sing is written from thr nan's perspective. Even though she died, he would " do i\t all again". I guess you know that Dimadh now sings this song at concerts for the Dears. The other song,when You Believe, is from the movie Prince of Egypt. It was famously sung as a duet by the great Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey about 20 years ago.
I loved both songs. The way he learns new things is amazing, he wants everything to be perfect. Chinese coaches, director are wonderful, so supportive, creative, it is a pleasure to see how warm and friendly everyone is. And most of all professionals of the highest level, all of them. This was so cute, & enjoyable. I've seen it several times. I think he was still 22 there. No, he doesn't kiss. The only kissing he ever does is women's, or children's foreheads/cheeks, & never romantically, on any young woman. At least when he said his mum had told him no kissing, the directors respected that.

John, do you know the true back story behind this song?. It's a sad one, so next time you watch it, knowing the true meaning of it, you might need a tissue. Mark Masri, was delighted when Dimash asked if he could sing it. We know any song DImash takes on, he makes his own, this is a beautiful song anyway. It's a very personal song to Mark, and DImash totally does it justice, and makes it even more emotional.

I believe this is the first time I’ve seen a reaction to this entire video with Dimash. I’ve watched this before and I believe it was shortly after the I am Singer launch in 2017…. So probably around 23 years old. Such a respectful and talented young man! Great reaction, John. If you think about it, the script was kind of heart wrenching. "If I Never Breathe Again" was a song written for another real life tragic love story about 20 years ago. Dimash has never kissed an actress on camera. Always came very close or looking very suggestive or an actress kissed him on the cheek but kind of covered it with her hands (I think in Golden?) As you saw in the behind the sceen clip, he came close to kissing scene and he quickly backed off saying, "Wait, Mom said do not kiss" Remember, Dimash came from a traditional conservative Muslim family. He has kept his personal life/relationship very private. Many people has tried to ask about his possible girlfriend, if any, and he always said that it's private and not anyone's business. Dimash being tall and good looking and with his amazing voice, no wonder millions of young women fall for him.

Basically it's musical theatre, only in a film studio instead of on a stage. So this is why there are a couple of days rehearsal, and then the whole thing is shot in one go. It's a very cool concept!
