I'm planning to go from Seattle to Shanghai as well. I'm not familiar with QR & wechat so have few questions: 0. Did you take DL281 flight ? I hear it only fly on certain days (twice/week): Tuesday & Thursday ? Which day you took ? 1. 14 days prior boarding: After we install wechat then what to do next ? If you can make video about it, it would be great ! 2. Wifi in Shanghai airport: I hear we need to have Chinese phone number to access it ? I plan to get China prepaid SIM so have data access in airport. 3. If we install China prepaid SIM card, should we re-register Wechat again with that phone # ? 4. Wechat ask somebody scan barcode to activate, can I ask stranger in the plane to scan it ? Thanks in advance.
Hi! Thanks so much for this thorough video of your experience. :) I'm currently waiting for my visa to be processed so I can return to China as well. I came back to the States for Chinese New Year break in January and have been stuck here since. I'm miserable and anxiously awaiting my visa! lol
Thanks for sharing your experience. Since you had to scan a QR code at the airport when you landed in Shanghai, did you have a Chinese phone with internet availability to do so? I don't have a Chinese phone, not sure how I would do. I plan to purchase version international plan but doubt the signal is good enough at the airport. Any suggestions?
Hello, thanks for sharing your experience and glad you had a safe flight. Curious, with the current political tensions between the U.S. and China, did you face any unusual scrutiny in either country while traveling?
@@gofindaliceblog I'm looking on Google now. It says tickets are $700-$1000, which is much less than before; almost the same as before. But my cousin just came back from China, and some of my friends went back to China. They said it was $2000??? What's the real price?
Prices are back to normal right now. As long as you have a visa to enter, traveling is easy. But last September when I flew, it was very very expensive haha.
Hi thanks for sharing your experience, it's really helpful. Would like to check on how you get to check the health code? Was it on a mini programme - Health Code Traveler Version? I am currently still in quarantine and my health code show 'no relevant health information found'. Having trouble with it and would be great to hear so advise :)
@@gofindaliceblog Thanks for the fast reply! Greatly appreciated! :D Unfortunately, my documents match but it's still not working out. I will check with the medical staff again on that. Great video by the way - great insights!
A person holding US passport with home return permit traveling to the PRC is safer than a person with a valid China visa holding the same US passport. A decade ago, my cousin went to Beijing with a visa yet she was detained and grilled by the immigration officers at PEK airport for a couple of hours simply on her US passport, her place of birth is Hong Kong. The policies and law in the PRC are utterly ambiguous and bordering to lawlessness.

Is the 14-day Health QR Code requirement only for China/Hong Kong SAR citizen?
Seems so troublesome, so one can spend the trip of 14 days quarantine,.... so does one have to pay hotel for 28 days?

There's 5G in almost every airport in China...even 4G in remote area. Don't live in old stereotype world anymore, please.

Great video, thanks for sharing, hope to travel to Suzhou next year, via landing In Shanghai and having someone pick me up at airport
How much was a plane ticket??
It was super super expensive! 5-6x the usual price because there weren’t that many flights available each week
