This is still one of my favorites! These guys shed!!!!!
How'd he go from this to stocks??
Best part of this is how they all show respect for each other's talent.
Tony Taylor Jr and Clemons Poindexter grew into a beast of a drummer. Still following them to date, and I am still in awe of how they grew so much.
People who say...
*"They all sound the same"*.
The sound is one thing.
But when it comes to music...it's not about the way they play something...but the feel behind it, the *"taste"* in a sense.
Once you truly listen and feel the music...you can tell each of these drummers has an idividual style.
They each have a different *"flavour"* of rhythm. Listen closely.
It’s usually people with no rhythm hating.
Facts
What I love is that all these young cats are blazing, but still appreciating each others chops when it isn't their turn..... No haters, just a few dudes having fun playing AND listening!
Gifted, young, and talented. Keep on doing it, ignore the negative people because they are always guna be around. Praise God!

an imaginary friend floating in the sky???? there isn't one...simples
jimminy crikey Your going to hell...
It is through human effort and attention these guys became as good as they did. I’m tired of the dead beat father of the year taking credit for our achievements.
Hells yeah! Let me explain me, I am 65 years old, and have been a drummer since I was 5. This makes me an old school drummer, and on one hand, they all are holding their left hand incorrectly, but who cares? We were taught the marching mode of stick holding which the left hand holds the stick above the fingers. These kids kick ass, and nobody played drums like this when I was their age except Buddy or very few drummers who were almost as good as him. Buddy was the guy to beat! I am sure these guys will most likely work on either television bands or something equivalent. Good for them! Boys, you did good!
Dude in the batman T-shirt killed it. Awesome.
Everyone in this video showed off some insane talent, but David Jones Jr.'s quads/flams from 2:07 - 2:15 are crazy tight.
Killed it man!
hey there it's david stone Jr from the shed....i produce as well as have a playlist of all my drum clips on my channel
I would love to know why anyone would ever post a negative or thumbs down. They were all great and extremely gifted young upcoming musicians. Everyone should just enjoy and wish them the best in the future! Look forward to there success..
Sheshhh. Bass player real nice on that bass. He grooves
+AreDee Pretty sure that's Steve Harvey....
Respect to these kids. They've raised the game.
One of the coolest things I've seen in a long time. Awesome job guys.
Anyone else notice the broken tip at 6:09?
Wow. Just awesome. I cannot lie. I've had a terrible day. This has just turned the whole thing around.
Absolutely awesome. (I was only 8 years late.......)
Everyone was so awesome!
All these young men are very Blessed. But the one in the blue and white hat was just killing it royally.
OMG!!! All you guys are killing it and that Bass player is so Funky
The guy with the "drummers are people too!" T-shirt was the best!!! Nice one guys
Stuff like this inspires me to practice! KILLED IT!
Dang! Those young kids are all blowing that room up with insanely great drummin' skills! So good.
Damn Larry this is insane. I’ve been following you for stocks and am glad this old video just popped up. Insane talent in this video!
Best thing ever was learning the drums at a young age as well as music theory. Don't regret a bit of it
that kid with the no fear shirt on is fuckin sick
curtis vance That's one of Guitar Center's drum off champions, Tony Taylor.
reading your comments from 2years ago, he has now won GC2017...wow
I knew I thought you used to be in a studio this is bangin! I watch you for stocks but this came up. I play and as a kid got to see Dave Wekyl front row. Church drumming is the best
damn...those are some talented young kids out there....they ripped it !!!!
Don't worry about the haters. This video is stellar, and it's awesome to see young kids tearing it up! Every one of these guys has a great style and I'd be honored to play with any one of them! Top notch stuff.
8:00 - 8:20 best solo! That was clean!!!!
I was just thinking the same thing😂💯
Wow..I can watch this over and over again
That was ight! Hit me up bell
Amazing drum chops by these kids . Keep drumming young men 💯💯💯💯💪💪💪💪
Hot dang Larry you whippin that 5 string!
sticking patterns used: RLRL, RRLL, RLRLKK, RLK, KRL, RlRllK, RllrrL and RllK
Jayson Huffman Never said 'the rhythms and accents' weren't good. I was just helping people understand the sticking patterns used. There are obviously other ones such as; KRLK, KKRL, RLKK, LRllK, Herta and Herta inversions and endless combos etc. But these are quite common 'Gospel sticking patterns' that I recognise in the video.
I know this was a long time ago but what is LRllK
L and R Capital Letters means full stroke. The other l and l means ghost notes. K is for kick :P
This is everything. Love the youth showing skills!!
THE BASSES TOOK THE WHOLE SHOW! I WISH I COOULD SHED WITH THE BASS OMG
Shine on fellas, and thank you Uncle Larry for giving talented kids positive influence through music!
Guy with the no fear shirt went in I was feeling his groove🔥
Addidas Beanie wins for me. His playing is the most fluid of all these guys, not to mention to musical flow and the voicing he creates within the groove. Great job all of you guys. Thanks for the video.
these drummers are so very very good...wonderful to hear youngsters with talent like this.....any criticism is so mean an unwarranted and most likely aimed by talentless people who couldn't tie their shoe laces never mind come close to playing as well ......In my 68 yrs on this planet experience tells me it's always the also rans who find fault to placate their own petty jealousy... no good player would fault these kids.....
Such a Wonderful blend of young beautiful talents having a great time sharing and inspirering each other doing what they love. It’s so lovely!
And the respect and admiration they have for each other ❤️ brave new world energies flowing
Piano player is the affirmative action portion of this video, lol
he was just trying not be noticed so he don't get mugged.
*****
Wow you mad.
😂
panzerken I would Mug him for that boring piano parts
That kid (David Stone Jr.)on the Batman shirt is sick!... Dannng dude... He's havin some fun..
This track sounds like "How It's Made" . Am I the only one who thinks this>?
Hahahahahaa I love that show dude n yeah totally
+mrPauljacob
Yeah the piano intros
I cant help but smile and pull my jam face while watching this video, ultimate respect from me to these guys. thank you x
Beast in so many ways
Ikr?!
They doin' what I'm tryin' to do
Matthew Murphy
Keep on keepin on bro.
You know it :-)
These kids are really good players for high school kids, and well on their way to becoming great drummers! Yes the gospel chops thing can get a little old but if you are a drummer it is very useful, though in my opinion only part of what a drummer should have in his bag. As these kids go on in their drumming career they will learn that there is more to soloing then 32nd note linear fills at 70 bpm and will start trying different styles and techniques. The coolest thing about this is the atmosphere that they are in. Taking turns and feeding off of each others vibes is an awesome way to get really good at anything. Keep it up drummers!
the 2 dudes with the beanies blew the others away
I played drums back in the mid-late 60's, but not like these gentlemen. I would have to start back out with electronic drums piped through headsets until I gained enough confidence to carry the beat again. Keep playing fellas, four of the best I've seen in years and I tend to be real critical when it comes to my favorite instrument. Thanks brother Larry for bringing this up for us.
A Great Day For Us!@KeonGibson
Keon Gibson you are amazing kind sir. Continued blessings to you. Thx. D
Whoa! All of them are headed for greatness. And Larry, man I new it was more than just stocks. I pluck dap tap slap and little myself.
This is good tallent,. but DAVID Jones Jr,.,. man you are off the hook,. shout out from South Africa
hey there it's david stone Jr from the shed....i produce as well as have a playlist of all my drum clips on my channel
This is probably one of the coolest videos I've seen I a while😂😂
Love all these guys SMH
wonderful display by Clemons Poindexter and Tony Taylor and nice finish by David Stone . jr
The 67 people who didn't like this video probably had 1G coverage, and the buffering just couldn't catch up.......ijs...these young cats are killing....STAY ON THE 1 GUYS........
Wow! Watch out these guys are coming! What amazing players for such a young bunch of guys!! No one is better, there all amazing at different things! Hats off, bravo
Is it fair to say that there is a whole new style of drumming among the young hip hop crowd? First of all let me say that I LOVE IT!!! But I'm just not all that familiar with it. I'm an old school rock drummer but these kids are blowing my mind. Their hand speed is off the friggin charts. Few people could play like this on the old school big classic rock drum kits because the larger drums (a) don't have the rebound of the smaller tightly tuned hip hop kits and (b) the older drums are literally spaced so much farther apart. I'm seeing more and more of this "type" of drumming and the fact that high schoolers are playing like this is amazing. It's so cool to see young people keeping the instrument alive. I wonder (and worry) if we have enough up and coming guitar players, bassists, keys players and so on. I hope so. What should we call this type of playing? I think it goes beyond hip hop. Is it "Shredding" ...to take a term from the old school guitar shredders. I hope that's not corny to say but there has to be a name for it.
Gospel! It comes from the church. Search Calvin Rodgers
As a drummer myself, I LOVE THIS!!!! Thank you bruh! This is artistry at it's finest.
that guy in the batman shirt... I mean there all fantastic (masters in my opinion) I play drums (no where near this level) but at 9:20 he became something ells, totally unleashed!!! what's his name, please? and are you guys influenced by John Blackwell? reminded me of him at one part.... absolute brilliance the whole lot of ya's!!!! please keep it up!!!
yeah sweet.. John Blackwell rules!
Dude his name is shown in the beginning.
+Skaterptater yea, I seen that thanks... just to lazy to recorrect myself lol
+Jake Clarke I understand. But I totally agree with you! David Stone Jr. Is the best of all of them!
+Skaterptater he is a phenomenal drummer ain't he... wish I had his skills haha 1 day in another life time lol
The look on Clemons face at 10:28 lives on in history as one of the greatest roasts in a shed
track lame but chops are good
😂
Now sir, that really wasn’t necessary.
I don't play a musical instrument, but just an old fan of percussion.... Man, this is just sooo much fun listening to this... THANKS, guys....
-A big fan in Rhode Island
TONY TAYLOR USED TO GO TO MY CHRUCH!!!!!! LIVING WORD. THAT NIGGA A BEAST
so you had see his drumming right? how was it?
He was epic. It was really good bro
The chops these kids have are outstanding. Simply flawless technique!
This was fucking awesome!!!
Like a bunch of young tony royster jrs

I thought the black kid was the best
+MrDrummerguy33 The blue, purple, orange, red, pink or yellow one?

3:21 hahaHaHahhaa nice
Lol thanks bro
Tony Taylor Keep rippin' it up man. What kind of China is that and what's stacked on it?
Tony Taylor Dude your sick. Shit just flows out. Seems like your not even thinking about what your gonna play and your hands just take over. Really groovy
Chris i believe that was a 16in zildian oriental china stacked with a 12 in wohan splash under..... and nick tbh I DIDNT KNOW HOW TO APPRAOCH IT LOL.... i jus tried my best to do war i love the best i can
That switch cracked me up haha
I Like how you mixed the different music styles and the drummers are killing it
That piano line is the most boring thing I have ever heard
😄 coz Hes Harry Potter 😄
the harry potter joke has been used on every white guy that wears glasses its not funny
chill men, im just kidding, dont get me wrong 😅
I'm not mad I'm not even white I'm just saying its not funny XD cause its over used
your not mad, but your affected 😅
Such talented guys and for most of them to still be in high school is remarkable!
Some of the best chops iv'e seen for sure!
I would commend the keyboard player that's the guy you want on your basketball team when your set up for the lay up and he has a three point Shot but the play was agreed upon you will get the pass for the game point.i wounder if there are any videos of him not holding back if anyone finds one let me know could be a story a good one ether good bad or there isn't one. No I didn't use punctuation just because I can it's like cussing I use it somtime I can't help it I'll punktuate.LIKE A .but I'm not in the mood. Sincerely,Reverend. Dr.Charles Fredrick Luthylll
Usually i don’t like to comment on YT videos. But had to for this one. Very nice and fresh
Loved it. Keep it up
They all sound like Aaron Spears.
@ 6:34 though, sounds like Dennis Chambers
you mad lol
Lol i was thinking the same thing
they were all amazing and they all respected each other top work they were all amazing
I'm never playing again
relax my friend, all these guys do is play drums
Just want to share my thoughts on the video. Music to my ears! Everybody was feeling it! Very talented young men! Keep it up I'm sure we all will see more of them!!!
Kinda was expecting them the be a tad more creative and not about hey who has the fastest hands here.. With such a basic beat you could have had so much fun instead of over powering it with these super fast fills that are only for showing off basically. Any one who doesn't play drums would be bored in the first minute because it's to much to take in.. Bummer, fast drummers with some chops but that's all
They all kids they did exactly what I expected them to do still killed it tho
We should do another one of these! Don't let it die! This was good, keep the tradition going, there are still more upcoming young drummers in Chicago and All Over! Hope you see this Uncle Larry
Is that white dude playing the piano some kind of joke? It's like there's all these people shreddin' hard and then there's that guy.
True Bohrman sounds like a track from Frozen that got rejected
man that was fire. my favorite was the drummer with the blue snapback hat and the one with the beanie. they were feeling it and everyone was cool
the drummers / bass player are great but lame beat / melody to jam on...
That is awesome to see y'all pushing each other on the chops. Keep it up and you'll notice how your talent will grow by leaps and bounds working in that type of environment.
Are these gospel drummers? then they should have gospel musicians playing with them. not the same piano line over and over again. even i could have thought of that line if i had 2 minutes to make up a "cool" riff. It gets boring after a while lol compared to the actual gospel chops shred this one blows in my opinion. Dont get mad or pee your pants because i spoke my mind. IM SORRY I THOUGHT THIS WAS AMERICA!?
Man people like you amaze me!! I can only imagine how great and talented some who would give advice, instruction, or how you could do the same to a group of awesome and motivated group of high school kids doing something positive in Chicago! Post a vid and I will I just turned 21 and I would love to finally put a drum duel with such a master legend(: p.s. I'm serious.
Someone*
Wait..... Who's the drum master legend...? Im confused.... And I wasn't bashing on the drummers, I was just saying they could have better musicians to back them up. Like those guys are by all means talented but not matching up with the drummers talents. Gosh I didn't know people disliked opinions....
Thomas Edison The point isn't to show how good they are. The point of the video is a DRUM shed. Not a band shred. They are there to lay down a track and riff for the drummers to play over. This wasn't about the bassist or pianist. It was about the chicago drummers.
Six thumbs up for the 5 Master Drummers and the Bassist. I was blown away by their performances.
How can you not respect kids that choose to use their gift of talent for positive instead of taking the negative path....Support our young brothers
I love how everyone look so genuinely happy tearing it up, exactly how drumming should be!
Man. This is such a fun watch. Never stop drumming.
That's the best drum shed ive ever seen. Even better than the ones with "bigger names". Well done.
