らりるれろ is Exactly L and R combined for anyone wondering, Make the R sound and touch the roof of your mouth, Notice when you say “La” your tongue goes up, do the same thing but make the Rrrr sound
They fructuate between L and R. There are times when it's more L like singing la la la even though R is used in roman letter system Japanese R is very weak R as it doesn't roll tongue like in European languages.
When I visited Japan and went into a starbucks I tried to order their special, the Goma goma goma drink. I tried to ask how much it was, definitely pronounced Ikura in the way that you said most people mistakenly do. Listening to your tip and how you're saying it, I'm wondering if its a matter of pitch accent, as well as regular accent. To my uneducated ear, it sounds like a high --> low falling down to low on ku and ra. Wish I had Dogen around here to double check me
I guess its like that, but its not quite ick lah, its i (い) ku (く) ra (ら) more like e-ku-la pronounced like e-mail, and then deska, the ka (か) at the end is like a question mark. Just like in english you raise the pitch at the end of the question. In japanese theres equal emphasis on each character so dont hang on the い in いくら(ikura) too long, i think that's what hes getting at with "ick lah". The only problem is that いくら is 3 syllables, and "ick lah" is 2

I'd love some stories about your time in Germany! :D
Grüße aus Düsseldorf!
I’ve just watched both your videos and found them really useful. I’m currently studying Japanese at uni and watching your videos has allowed me to see where I’m going wrong in my pronunciation.
Well the important thing is that you make Chris's life a living hell and prank the crap out of him. LOL! I love when you just pull random plans on him with no warning or notice. Always a good laugh! You look like you are having hilarious fun! subbed and liked for you!
thanks for rewriting the pronunciation. It's so much easier to learn the right way to say.
4:39 let me rephrase that..
"And that's how I stole all of south UK's accents and the hope diamond from the queen herself"
I loved Canada gets a shout out in your second video yay. Love these. After watching a lot of abroad in japan and seeing you feed him meat and give him alcohol continuously, I had to check these tutorials out. Great job
I'm convinced he's tryinna make every english speaker watching this pronounce らりるれろ as 'La Li Lu Le Lo', just to mess with people
らりるれろ is Exactly L and R combined for anyone wondering, Make the R sound and touch the roof of your mouth, Notice when you say “La” your tongue goes up, do the same thing but make the Rrrr sound
I see that, and instantly remember playing Metal Gear Solid 2.
They fructuate between L and R. There are times when it's more L like singing la la la
even though R is used in roman letter system Japanese R is very weak R as it doesn't roll
tongue like in European languages.
You are a natural on you tube . So happy you have this Channel .
Wish I had Dogen around here to double check me
I think its also important to emphasise "ik", rather than "ura".
The only problem is that いくら is 3 syllables, and "ick lah" is 2
Hi Ryotaro! I'm not the Laurel you knew in Seattle, but wanted to send you a shout out from Ohio. There are many English speaking folks who can't pronounce my name either. I used to say "you know, like the comedy team 'Laurel and Hardy'!" Except no one under the age of 40 knows who they are. 😊
So glad you have your own channel...been following Chris for years and never got to know you. Best of luck!
Awww Singapore got some love from Risottoro 🤗🤗🤗 hello from Singapore!
Love Singapore, need to go back there a.s.a.p for a Mee Pok!
This guy is so talented insane that he was able learn 4 languages very few people can do that

Moving out in the world at 15 takes some balls. Wow.
I’ve always wondered for a while who Ryotaro is after seeing you in Chris’s videos. Mystery solved.
