Fun Fact: The scuba diver guy in Binary Bottom is the canonical design for the French Narrator. They previously showed him in the episode “Feral Friends.”

Probably the most heartbreaking thing here is the shriveled old lady fish was ALWAYS voiced by Tom Kenny. He just had a much better range in 2002.
It is maddening that modern spongebob episodes basically never do anything with the fact that they are underwater.

I think the most compelling patreon pitch for any channel I've ever seen is the prospect of hearing Gus, Henry, and Charlie quoting the live action cat in the hat for 40 minutes straight tbh
SpongeBob and Patrick went from caring idiots who can unwilling warp reality, to to uncaring sociopaths who willing warp reality.
At 7:15 Gus refers to "the one true SpongeBob Boy," implying a One Piece style mcguffin that would create the perfect SpongeBob Boy. Like the climax of Infinity War, all Dire-Not-Alive-People will fight to become the one true SpongeBob Man. The SpongeBob boy is real.
Just to inform you, Grandpat is a character from The Patrick Show. They’ve retroactively brought many of the new characters from the spin-offs into new episodes to try and legitimise them. Making the two shows identical is the only way they can convince people to watch the Patrick Show from what I can tell.
I now know that The Patrick Show exists. You have done me an irreparable disservice.

I do feel with Spongebob is that most episodes seems to have at least 1 solid joke.
Like the Sceeaming Wallnut or Cursed Phone having the curse be free.

I'm pretty sure Diane Prunes was always voiced by Tom Kenny doing a scratchy voice - it's just that HE'S older now and can't do it the same.
I feel like every Spongebob Boys episode starts with the boys (and subsequent guests like Charlie) starting off more drunk than the last episode.

I need to let everyone know this show is fucking contagious. I had to watch one full (two episode) episode and one part of a two episode episode with my nephew and I needed to shout to my friends to tell that how nightmarish “Plankton and the Beanstalk” “Dopey Dick” and “My friend Patty” are.
I restrained myself, but I almost Spougebob Boyed my boys.

Also Henry's point about a lot of modern Spongebob being like "what if we did the image macro meme people liked that" ignoring the actual show and context is very accurate. I played Cosmic Shake earlier this year and there's a section where you have to distract some paparazzi. You do it by going up to each one and where the game has you mash a button while Spongebob cycles through different meme faces and poses from the show while the guy takes pictures with no background music or any voice lines from either character involved whatsoever. It was so surreal if I didn't know better I would have thought it was some like, 8d chess level commentary on the franchise from a weird fangame lol

also fun fact. the tidal zone was not just a twilight zone parody. but a name in reference to the original comic stephen hillenburg made "the intertidal zone", and was supposed to be a multi show spanning story where the original spongebob, the patrick show (which infamously made fun of doug walker so that would be fun to look at), and kamp koral were all to combine into one show (and there are 5 episodes in it not just the 3)

I'm non-binary, as prompted to comment!! Also it's so surreal seeing the Spongebob Boys gradually discover the new badness of post-sequel spongebob. I think they, I, and many other adults are more accustomed to post-first-movie badness, where the show became an enormous, boring drag from lack of creativity and mean-spirited flanderization. I remember noticing a promising change in quality when Steven Hillenburg came back; more energy, more connective tissue with the old series, the works. Now though it's just been running *so* dry that they're throwing nonsense at the wall with nothing sticking, actual jokes being replaced with obnoxious goofy faces every second and "wacky shenanigans" nonstop. The old show was so special because of its restraint; when it went off the wall, it carried much more punch because of the usual chill pace and strong verbal jokes. Now it's like we're witnessing the show slowly die of hypothermia, going numb and releasing all endorphins in the body before it finally expires.
The Cyberpunk Edgerunners jokes got me in stitches since I just started watching through the series yesterday. I was not prepared for those jokes.
I almost never get sick, but the day after watching this I came down with a fever. I think my body is nearing its Spongebob Boyz limit.
Seeing as you seem to have phased out seasons 6-8, maybe you should add The Patrick Star Show to the generator. It would be hell, and it would give context to random cameos and the oversaturation of Bubble Bass.

I so want these guys to watch an episode on The Patrick Star Show on this series. It’s like modern SpongeBob if it was 10 times more insane, and I love it for that. Episodes 18a (The Patterfly Effect) and beyond are especially funny.

Glad to notice that I'm not the only one who noticed the lack of fart jokes in SpongeBob. Like, the show has doubled down on the gross-out humor over the years, but unlike a lot of other Nickelodeon shows, it seems to draw the line at that. Maybe because the show came out during a more "classic" era of cartoons, and fart jokes are generally more of a modern cartoon thing? I dunno, I've already put way too much thought into this...
There is one in Pre-Hibernation Week, after Sandy says the line "The giant clams like to feed at this hour!" There's also a recent Kamp Koral episode with an, erm...rather cursed scene that I could only imagine how you guys would react to. (It's the episode _Help Not Wanted._ You're welcome.)

Also, the thing with recent Soongebob is, it’s currently being made by people who grew up with SpongeBob. So, they’re adding references to the older seasons.
One thing I wish was mentioned but the overly animated shark manager from Jolly Lodgers was a parody of old comedian Frank Nelson. That’s one thing that modern SpongeBob does that’s weird to me is that it’s pulling celebrities from like the 40s and making them into characters. The Patrick Show famously has a character that’s literally Peter Lorre with gills. That along with the obnoxious squash and stretch makes it seem like the new show runners are retroactively trying to make this show a looney tunes like show and it just doesn’t work
