I’ve just finished watching this episode and I don’t really understand how he immediately clicked with these people and started a new family…it just doesn’t make sense how he lived on Earth for almost 20 years, referred to his wife as a pet and almost killed Mark…but just over the course of a couple of months he is all protective of his new family…O.O
Remember, Nolan can live for thousands of years, he already has many centuries under his belt. Imagine that today you are told that you'll live up to 10.000 years, that you'll see everyone you love die. Now fastfoward just 500 years, how could you make any relationship knowing that you'll survive them? And now, fastfoward 1000 years, do you think others lives will still matter to you? It's cold, it's cruel but it's understandable. Not to mention, Nolan was alone in space for some time, depressed, torn apart from the choices he made (destroying his life on Earth and then betraying his people and culture) and now he finds a planet where they just gave him the crown (beacuse this aliens only live a couple decades and choose the oldest of them as their leaders, Nolan already very old and with mileniums ahead of him ), he needed something to cope Don't take me wrong, I despise his attitude but I understand him
Everything he told Mark and did to him was horseshit to convince himself by huffing on viltrumite copium. And the reason why he clicked with Thraxa "instantly" was *because* of those 20 years on earth. Had a Nolan without Earth flew there he wouldn't be depressed enough to have to rebuild himself back up and his thousand year old conditioning would still remain as strong as ever.
I really love the way JK Simmons delivers the exhausted way. Omni Man says "Andressa" with a little sigh at the end. It really does sound exactly how an exhausted spouse would say their partner's name. I know it's a relatively small thing. But I just want to appreciate the voicr acting in this show.
After doing all the killing on earth, he just can't go back to earth and start living a normal life, which is why he decided to stay there and start living a new life.

I love the concept behind the Thraxans. They're literal bugs who live a fraction the time humans do. At first glace, their lives are pathetic, insignificant, all the things Viltrumites see humans as. We're supposed to think it's a bizarre fluke for Omni Man to have this sudden change of personality in just a few months, the same way Viltrumites would view 20 years as just a blink o the eye. And then we're left in the position where we are forced to overcome our own biases. It makes Omni Man's initial disbelief that he cared about Earth a lot more tangible. He already learned the lesson the audience is still struggling to grasp at this point.
Nolan knew this was gonna happen 100%. He knew the viltrumite interbreeding policy or whatever and he still had a kid and now hes dumping all this shit on Mark

It’s a bit more nuanced than this. Nolan had no one else he could rely on, no one else he could turn to for help. Perhaps it wasn’t fair to put the responsibility of an entire species on Mark’s shoulders, but heroes always bear the weight of responsibility for the lives of communities and the people they protect. In this case, Nolan was going to bear the weight alongside his son. Nolan wasn’t really the one making the issues. It’s not like he asked for the Viltrumite empire to hunt him down. Yes, he could’ve chosen to leave the Thraxans, but his presence seems to have made the world better through his leadership and his powers. And he made a family there as well: to outright abandon them especially with their limited lifespan would be another dick move amongst his series of horrendous choices. I admit I wasn’t wholly comfortable or convinced of Nolan’s argument, but to call this emotional manipulation at its finest is wrong.

He KNEW this as a certainty and did anyway, essentially sentencing 42 billion lives to death PLUS the lives of his only 2 sons. It’s completely unforgivable what he has done.
