    When Mini 4 Pro faces the subject and follows it, it will automatically rise to avoid danger caused by being too close to the subject. If the set distance exceeds the safety distance, it will not rise. You can have a try. When it rises automatically, obstacle avoidance still works, but it is necessary to avoid some small branches and other scenes that are not easily detected by the visual sensor😁

    Salut !

    Thanks for taking the time to clearly explain this. I was getting frustrated trying to get active track to work the way I thought it should. Now I know how to properly use active track. I love the active track feature.

    I’m not sure it’s a bug more a miss information issue as it’s better have both options if you know how it works. However, a software fix should be implemented for the obstacle avoidance not working when accidentally or purposely clicking on the screen.

    Great video @GAVINHR which leads me to wonder, how does it measure the height it goes to, is it from the ground or is it from the home point. If the latter then a whole lot more problems arise when you walk around hills.

    Thank you Gavin. Yes yes totally see it, Mine does that too. I got to hit the pause button because, It completely ignores the sensors like everything you said agreed 100%. So far with the active track, I have noticed if you set your circle parameters close to each other. That kinda makes it less erratic. It also freaks out if it loses the subject and I don't like that either. There's definitely a glitch though. We need a firmware update, but I'm confident it'll be soon.

    I've had my DJI Mini 4 Pro for a month now. Could anyone help with some issues I've been experiencing. I'd really appreciate it.
    1. Active track is really struggling to work at all. I select a subject and it just cancels straight away. Could this be because of D-Log?
    2. Even after following instructions on youtube Subject tracking is still greyed out. I don't think I'm doing anything wrong, it just isn't an option. I never had this problem with my mini 3 pro.
    PLEASE HELP

  • @mr.thomas7282

    So there are several flaws.
    Ignoring the sensors when rising to preset altitude: I would call that a bug.
    Control is inconsistent and badly documented. Even with the knowledge I have from your video it doesn't make 100% sense. There should be a way to always maintain height (i.e. drawing) or change height (tapping). Now it is mixed (when switching to the other circle) and thats counter intuitve.

    I haven’t owned the M4P long enough to comprehend any of this😂😂. I’m lost. Once I get more experience I’ll come back to this because it’s seems to be of importance pertaining to the tracking wheel. I get what you’re talking about though but I’m just a noob😂

    Thanks for this gavin, which is a big floor. I did watch your video, and I see the obstacle avoidance going crazy yet it didn't do its job kind of worrying. I tell you what I noticed today as well using the mini 4 I flew it out with my home point updated, and then I moved my position, so I updated my home point, thinking it would come back to my new position but it actually went to where the drone was when I updated the home point and tryed to land on a roof. Unless I'm mistaken, I thought the drone should come back to me and where the controller was when I updated, but it actually went to the roof where it nearly landed. Might be just me, not understanding, lol.anyway, thanks for sharing, and this is something we should definitely be aware of. 😁👌👍 🇬🇧

    Great explainer video. Knowing this will make operation much more reliable. I've been out experimenting/learning the techniques you describe.
    I love my DJI products but every now and then there is something incomplete or even absent in the manual. Another example is the function of the Battery Information in the Fly app, you must press the battery to see the other very real battery levels. It is one small notch better in the Mini4 manual than the Mini3 manual.

  • @timcolton4680
    @timcolton4680 11 месяцев назад

    1st video where someone tapped the circle. With dozens of videos on that wheel you're the first I've seen tap rather than draw. Bug ? maybe, learning curve (get it) probably. Good information through. I know it takes a lot of time to this.

  • @timcolton4680
    @timcolton4680 11 месяцев назад

    So it does say you can "Tap" the "Dots" but what if you tap in between the dots - Page 31 of Owners Manual - In Trace mode, there will be a trace wheel in the camera view. The dots on the trace wheel
    indicate different tracking directions. The tracking direction can be changed by tapping
    the dots or dragging the tracking direction icon to any other dot on the trace wheel. The
    aircraft will fly to the selected tracking direction based on the green flight route shown
    on the trace wheel. The aircraft's current position, end position/tracking direction, and
    flight route can be viewed on the trace wheel. The tracking direction can be adjusted while
    tracking to fit your needs. ?

    Thanks for a great video, Gavin. I was flying my mini 4 today trying to get it to track my Kubota tractor. Long story short: I crashed. No serious damage...it still flies My ego IS damaged a bit. tho. I am relatively new to drones. I want to practice using the active track so I can track my big orange Kubota tractor as we plow my very long driveway and yard.... I have trees around and of course, I flew into one today (if it's there...I will find it). I intend to watch your video again and try to understand what you are saying. We just got this new active track upgrade... I'm wondering if it will help me avoid another crash. All I want is for the drone to stay a constant distance and take pretty videos and photos. Nothing fancy. I'm hoping I can master this before we get our first snowstorm. Thank you!

    That's interesting. I haven't even played with this stuff yet. What I did find was since I do mostly Photos I assigned a quick button as the AE lock. I was doing some stuff inside in atti mode and when I hit the AE Lock the drone went up 2 feet and moved forward about 3 feet.
    Freaked me right out.

    It's strange that drawing to the inner circle maintains the manually chosen altitude, but drawing to the outer circle doesn't. Wouldn't it be better if tapping to either circle selects the preset altitudes, and drawing to either circle maintains the manual altitude?

    I posted on the forums that I noticed when you switch from Metric mode to Imperial mode, all measurements are in Feet except the Active Tack altitude, those stay in meters. The minimal circle and maximum circles are in feet, so why not altitude?
    I feel it's likely a scripting error that's involved and I'm not sure if it is related to what happens here, but I can't discount it.

    I crashed mine when i was flying indoors. It warned me that the battery was low, and it was going to initiate RTH in 10 seconds. Well, I didn’t have time to land it, it initiated or trued to climb to 120m that I had set for RTH; problem is, I was indoors. Poor thing slammed itself multiple times into my ceiling until it hit the ground. Luckily for me, there is no visible damage. One point to note, I had disabled the obstacle avoidance indoors, which was messing it up indoors. Lesson learnt….

  • @projectgaming3364

    Seems to me like it's a safety aspect. By flying up it will ensure that if you suddenly sprint forward, it won't be in the way. Gives it time to react and be safe. Same for a vehicle.

    So basically you cocked up and want to blame dji for it. Just cos you want it to do something the software isn't programmed for or, dji hadn't thought about, doesn't mean it has to be a bug. Learn from it and don't do it again. Don't expect dji to 'fix it'.

    • @GAVINHR
      @GAVINHR  Месяц назад +2

      Oh do shut up. Clearly that’s not what I’m saying. If a drone behaves in a way that’a different to the manual then it’s a bug isn’t it

  • @jskeats

    Thanks for the explanation. I believe that the biggest problem is that the drone ignored its obstacle avoidance sensors if it hadn't there wouldn't have been a crash.
