      Yeah we fished this same lake in the summer and caught some tanks as well. They were full of Cray fish actually. One we caught this time had three crayfish in its belly.

    2:45 kokanee with spots?? Is this a Montana thing because I've never seen a kokanee with spots like that and Isn't having no spots one of the key identifying features of kokanne/sockeye, not to mention red coloration during spawning,

    • @TheFishingDoctorsAdventures
      @TheFishingDoctorsAdventures  10 месяцев назад +1

      Google Kokanee and you will see there are some strains that are quite spotted along the back and tail region. i don't create the rules. I have caught Kokanee in BC that have spotting along the back and upper portion of the tail. Some of these do have a RED hue to them, but hard to tell with the lighting. It may be because of the lake which is ultra clear all year, the chemical makeup of the feed or the fact they spawn so young or that it is happening in colder temps under the ice. Who knows though. They're kokanee. If you saw the ones caught in summer they're the same silver bullets with limited spotting.

    1:16 technically thats NOT a kokanee...kokanee are landlocke sockeye..sockeye dont have spots. thats a landlocked chinook salmon from a hatchery most likely..

    • @TheFishingDoctorsAdventures
      @TheFishingDoctorsAdventures  2 месяца назад

      @Andy-zj3dc it's definitely a kokanee. This is not a Chinook and no Chinook stocked in this lake. Chinook have spots on the tail. There are no spots on the tail. Some kokanee do have spots.

    • @Andy-zj3dc
      @Andy-zj3dc 2 месяца назад

      @@TheFishingDoctorsAdventures no sockeye do not have spots at all...they must be coho if they arent chinook...i live off sockeye salmon they never ever have spots.. they maye be calling them kokanee because they are landlocked but they arent true kokanee and most likely landlocked coho if not chinook...i live in Alaska and catch thousands of sockeye every summer. they never ever have spots..

    • @Andy-zj3dc
      @Andy-zj3dc 2 месяца назад

      my guess is coho were once stocked and this is a remnant of that.

    • @Andy-zj3dc
      @Andy-zj3dc 2 месяца назад

      also found they stock coho and kings in montana lakes easily on RUclips..

    • @TheFishingDoctorsAdventures
      @TheFishingDoctorsAdventures  2 месяца назад +1

      @Andy-zj3dc so you catch ocean run sockeye. I do too. I live on the west coast and catch all 5 species of Pacific Salmon. Sockeye, Coho, Chinook, Chum and Pink. Sockeye are not kokanee. Kokanee are genetically divergent from sockeye. They are land locked sockeye and do not leave freshwater. They don't interbread even when inhabiting the same spawning areas as sockeye. I also catch lots of kokanee in many lakes. Guess what, they have spots. I'm guessing you're pretty young and maybe have not experienced many kokanee populations. I've fished lakes where there are several separate kokanee populations in the same lake that look different and spawn differently. Some are shore spawners, some stream spawners. Spots are not the only defining trait of salmon species. Some Chinook I've caught have almost no spots... they're still Chinook... some coho have lots of spots and some have nearly none. While most kokanee don't have spots in the silver phase as they go into spawning colors they seem to develop spots. Look and the eye, the face, the mouth... looks like a stubby kokanee to me. There are also a rare genetic variety of black kokanee apparently. This may be one of those. You can think whatever it is that you want. Doesn't change my mind without an official DNA analysis.

    Those fish the perch are eating are pygmy whitefish.

  • @IgiBroda
    @IgiBroda 10 месяцев назад +1

    Why do you keep giant perch ? You are keeping spawning fish, I watched you take salmon and tie them onto your waste van. Your not a real fisherman

    • @TheFishingDoctorsAdventures
      @TheFishingDoctorsAdventures  10 месяцев назад +8

      Perch are an invasive species in these mountain lakes of Montana. They have no limit on perch in this lake we were fishing. Generally, all males are sexually mature at 3 years; most females age 4 and older, or longer than 16cm are mature and able to spawn. They produce tons of offspring. So even if you keep a 16 cm female perch you are removing a spawning fish. We are also fishing in 40 feet of water and as you can see in the video the fish are suffering barotrauma with stomach protruding out of their mouths. They have a significantly reduced rate of survival catching them this deep, so you are better off keeping some for dinner rather than Catch and Release fishing for them at this depth. Our intention on fishing for them was for retention to eat. Usually if releasing perch best to fish less than 20 feet of water if they inhabit that depth. In this particular lake we have not found perch in shallow water.
      I'm not sure what you mean by you watched me tie salmon to my waste van????
      Do you mean, "Waist Band"???
      Are you this same guy from a few years ago and you just do not use english as a primary language? It's ok if you English is week. I think I can guess what you mean. You are referring to me fishing for coho on the vedder river fishing at Fishermans corner a few years ago. The one time I tried wearing a rope belt to tie my catch to my waist, so I wouldn't have to walk back to shore every time and leave them on the beach. I'm not actually sure why that's a problem and why you an issue with is besides you have trouble catching fish yourself???
      I am a little innovative, I like trying new things and that belt was a failed attempt at saving me time so I had more time to fish when the bite was on. Didn't work though cause to hard to move in the water and spin around with them attached to you.
      I'm still not clear why it would be a problem even if I always kept the salmon on my Waist. You never were able to say why it was a problem. But I understand you don't speak English and may have trouble expressing yourself of giving a reasonable explanation.
      Guess what, I am a Fisherman and I fish a lot. I also catch many species of fishing on the ocean, lakes, streams, rivers, open water, frozen water... every time of the year I'm out there Fishing.
      I am not a Catch and Release Fisherman... I keep fish. Definitely got me there... I do kill fish and eat them, share with people, friends and family.

      F off boomer. As long as your ethical and responsible, it doesnt hurt to keep fish. Unfortunately we dont have it good like yall did, so we cant afford to fish and hunt just for recreational purposes alone. We do it for food too, thanks to your generations scorched earth political and economical policies.
      Also i live close to this lake and fish it often (not saying the name, pound sand), and there are TONS of perch. Almost all lakes dont even have a limit on perch
