First of all, that is an out of this world bass riff. Also, on this track it‘s particularly obvious why Peter Criss was also essential to the 70‘s Kiss sound, as he brought that certain swing to it.
*Marcus* you do know that Peter didn't write that drum track. They had a guy play the drums for Peter and then Peter would come back in a replay it in concert. That is why the concert version and studio version doesn't exactly sound the same.
Great job... wow, that kicked butt!! Definitely not a song for a beginning bass player to attempt. Kinda helps prove my point that KISS is musically much better than they’re usually given credit for. Keep up the great work and thanks for posting!
I'm reading Paul Stanley's book, and according to him Bob Ezrin, the producer of the Destroyer came up with it. Also with the solo. But I agree, one of the best bass lines in the whole Kiss catalogue
The run he does at 31seconds is slightly different than the one you keep repeating. They are two different runs but very close. Have a look at the tab in the kiss bass book. Keep Rocking
There's no effects on this one, just picking hard. Thanks for stopping by Victor, if you find this channel useful please give us a follow on instagram.
Nice. Great pick work. I keep finding Detroit Rock City Bass cover videos played with two fingers. Wrong. I aspire to your clean strong fast pick work. Thanks a million.
Not Bad but In the verses its Missing for the higher Notes that give it a small decent touch. I Expected more han just Playing Simple allmost identical peace all the time.
Play at half speed and notice how the fast parts are very sloppy. Do the same here ruclips.net/video/h9-LtZPAnA4/видео.html and notice how the playing is super precise. Not sure why this video has so many likes. That superb Gene Simmons lick only works when played precisely. The playing on this video doesn't cut it.

One of Gene's best lines.

@@matusgensky3764 yeah in genes book he states that bob ezrin suggested the bass line to him same with the guitar solo, all bobs creations
Shame he plays it different live
@@pafa92played it different right out of box. If you watch their Anaheim 1976 vid, it's much slower but still in the pocket.
0:24 That‘s a stanky bass line
very stanky
If stanky is great then YES it's stanky!
That's a nice Chris Squire bass sound you've got going on!
Great playing, great timing. Thanks!
Great job Sir.
The bass tab for this song please!!! :')
Use sheet music not tab
@@OhKnow379 tabs are easier
Sorry in hindsight that was a sorta shitty reply to a simple request which didn’t help at all.
Love Kiss,excellent cover👍👍
Dude your videos are awesome, but what amazes me most is that killer tone! I struggle a lot with tone when I play bass with a pick!

Yeah, it's supposed to alternate from a higher run mid riff to a lower run at the end of the riff.
Awesome
Nice cover man, rock on :)
Great cover and great sound!
How do you get that sound apart from the Fender jazz?

Another iconic bass line by a truly iconic bassist Gene Simmons

"Freddy's Dead" Bass riff!
Great cover. Are you tuned to Eb?
All Kiss music is in Eb. :)
@@SynchroSting not all. On some albums Gene played in E Standart tuning. (Sorry if I come off as a smartass.)
Hey wha kiss song would you suggest for a beginner

This guy is pretty good.
