I love that people here in the South have that attitude to help out another person out if they can .My uncle would say if your neighbors ox is stuck in the ditch he would help him out ! He may need some help his self one day . Way to go Tim great Channel
I'll agree on the JD winches! Grew up logging with an old '72 JD440B and did lots of private selective cut stuff and we'd often pull trees out of peoples yards and go above and beyond in customer service stuff. Kept busy for decades on just word of mouth that way. Anyway, had some large pine to pull out and we'd occasionally have to lock the diff and spin until the tires were two feet down and the winch would pull the tree over or the skidder out of the trench as long as the cable didn't have any damage and snapped of course.
That was an awesome video, good job and good tips on preventing those kinds of things from happening. Any one else have a similar story of getting a piece of machinery stuck?
Tim I know this was one of your older videos. I was just going back and looking at some of them. Is the winch on a tiger cat PTO driven or huydrlic . And is the John Deere PTO or huydrlic. Reason for asking is I know from experience that huydrlic can be stalled. But PTO driven is just like you said , something is going to give or break . And I'm sure that in this day and age huydrlic has come along way in there winches.
@@cotontop3 as you said in your videos, there deeres i ran had really stout winches. Something was going to move or break (we ran chain chokers) needless to say deere is on point at their winch game
Bring a back memories. I once sunk an old 1010 dozer up to the seat in an earth dam, early spring. Yep we left it. Nope took a couple days to sign it out by hand. Didn't want to sink our 59 D6 In the dam. Winch cable was about 50 ft short.
Well hopefully that 602 Tigercat cable skidder has a decent winch. People tend to dump all over the Gearmatic or CanCar winches but I’ve had nothing but great luck with mine. They have to be fixed and adjusted and they are bombproof. People cut corners and try to save money on replacing parts inside and they just don’t operate correctly.
I gotta leave one more comment. We had a 648 John Deere skidder back in 2012 doing a job. And you are not stretching it at all. Once that cable was hooked up, you had to get a feel for how much stretching that cable could take because if you just started pulling it would snap that cable like a piece of string. We broke a lot of cable on that job. LOL
I hate be one drop belly pans on that dozer be tons extra weight. But dozer need pans drop & steam cleaned after that expedition or overheating & huge amount of troubles very soon.
I ran a timber jack 380 back in 96 for a year .. that puppy had a strong winch you had to be careful pulling a load I broke a lot of cables and choker chains.. we was in virgin timber in Pennsylvania what a lot of fun big timber bro 😳😳
That’s the difference between me and others, if it sucks, I’m gonna tell you it sucks. Also, Milwaukee tools, I watch a influencer at the main headquarters cuss them out in front of a big group of people using the f bomb and gd and they still sending him stuff. I have been told by partners not to be a yes man, to be sure and point out faults so that they can learn. So no, your thoughts are not correct along those lines.
Watching that guy dig for the tow hook was painful to watch. Like come on dude, freaking dig in there. Ha ha ha. He had to be coached through the process. Lolol
There was fella local that used to clean up derailments for CSX he had 3 big D9H's with these big ol Hyster/Cargo winches on em.He had these spades on on the front blade that helped put all the weight in the ground when they would pull. He had the ROPS and real heavy guarding he said on some of those pulls he would lay down in the floor to get away from that cable if it broke, he made alot of money in that Buisness
Won't the big grabber snatch right onto the rops? hop that bunny right out of the hole :) A dozer winch would be helpful but I dont' see many big trees, mostly scrub. Good on you for helping a neighbor of sorts. My baby JD350 has a 24T carco winch on it, and you're spot on, its shaft drive and if you can anchor it well, it'll either pull or break something, I use a short gr70 3/8 chain extender as a safety valve.
Like a 527 cat. Practically a dozer. They're called skidders though they're a dozer with a little different set up and smaller blade. Use them alot around my parts. Or just d6s
@@briangardiner1015 no I am in the east. Appalachian mountains, from Pennsylvania to North Carolina. I live on the Virginia, Kentucky line to be exact in coal country. Really awesome of you to help your friend.

Thank you Stanley, I appreciate it!
Glad to see a cotontop video pop up on my feed!
Great job on the video. You didn’t have any trouble getting him out of there.
great video Tim , man that Tigercat was just idling and pulled that doser out be safe and have a blessed day !
Great video Tim 👍👍👍. Didn’t oven break a sweat. Pretty amazing what they will pull.
What's the rating on that winch? that was nothing compared to loaded trailer, I seen you pull a loaded trailer around with the 630
If chad had chains I believe that machine would be stressed out. Chad makes that dude pull every time
😱 NO operator wants to get pulled out😊👌 hE WAS SUNK good!!!!😍😍😍😍😍 THANKS TIM
HE WAS UNDER GROUND
Note self: take a shovel with you when have to attach a cable to a buried piece of equipment!
Always good to pay it forward to help peeps out of being stuck it comes back at the right time when you get stuck
Good to have a sense of humor about everything no good deed goes unnoticed
Hell that Tiger Cat did not even know that that was back there.
I bet that Skidder never felt that lil Dozer.
Wish you could do a full day of your logging operations, love see it
I'd say that winch did a pretty doggone good job right there!
Long day today, I just got to the hotel and watched this video , now it’s bedtime. As always a great video, keep them coming.
Does Deere make its own winch? I make foundry patterns for Tulsa winch are they any good? They on the tiger cat?
Deere completely builds their own. Tigercat has changed their source for winches multiple times and not sure what they’re currently using.
Thank god you got caterpillar out of the mud always helping someone needed awesome thanks learn the hard way
Thanks Dustin. Good luck washing that slop off that dozer.

what you think of the old timber jack
Are the John Deere and Tigercat winches mechanical or hydraulic drive?
Deere and mechanical off a drive shaft. Tigercat is hydraulic and they have even changed suppliers and neither brand will pull
@@cotontop3 as you said in your videos, there deeres i ran had really stout winches. Something was going to move or break (we ran chain chokers) needless to say deere is on point at their winch game
The old gearmatic winches where very good . International , cat , Franklin ,I think was a few that used it.

You have a great day out there Tim..
That cable dam near whipped him
Wooof. He got in alittle of that southern slop
What was he doing back there with that dozer. Pulling logs out with a cable?
We always install large metal tiles at creek crossings an stay out of any SMZ
I hate be one drop belly pans on that dozer be tons extra weight. But dozer need pans drop & steam cleaned after that expedition or overheating & huge amount of troubles very soon.
Well when you have a little bulldozer like that of course is going to get stuck
Great video and life advice. Thanks
just love the sound of that tigercat. the logs dont get strapped down?o and cool video
They slide right off even with straps
@@cotontop3 o ok was just wondering
Another entertaining video Tim. A good watch.
Why did they stop the TV show.
Dozer just might have puller itself out if it had decent tracks on it. No grousers left!

Nice work Dustin!!!... You Know.. :poop: ...Happens!!!..LOL..
my brothers old jd740 winch would either break the cable, or break the running gear under the deer. those diffs are not super on the old jd's.
There goes the deal Tigercat was thinking of signing with you.

THE GREAT TIM DOES IT AGAIN
My Dad had D8s, 7s, 6s, and he told me never to leave one stuck overnight as they will just keep sinking and making the problem worse.

Hooch-a-puckers... gotta love'm

The little cat was no match for that tiger.
Its hung up now lol
I got one almost just like it
