4 for 4, I just passed my PPL Checkride, thanks for all the videos. The videos, podcast, and audio book made it easy! I nailed the oral.
Where can I find the audio book?
I just retired from teaching I’m 60 years old, fulfilling, a lifelong dream I’ve learned how to fly. I have followed, and I’m getting ready to take my written exam. Your videos, a great thanks
4 for 4. Just reached 25% of the Online Ground Academy free trial.
Love that you mentioned energy management! We do a lot of short field landings ong the DHC8-400 back in the Philippines. And managing your the energy of the aircraft is the best techniques to understand.
4 for 4 Short Field landing were one of the hardest for me because I always wanted to "Chop and Drop".. But on check ride day, I nailed it!!!! Thank you MZeroA for an outstanding program and helping me pass my check ride!!!!! You guys rock
4-4. I start Instrument next week. But this is a great reminder to keep practicing the short & soft field landings and other maneuvers.
Blancolirio said to make every landing a precision landing. That advise is making me better Everytime I fly. Last summer I did my first off airport landing over a powerline and into a field. Picked a field that I knew was perfectly flat and had a go around option. Since then I've done some short field with no go around. Off airport landings are amazing but it's critical to develop short and soft field skills.
Based on yesterday's video, I practiced landings last night. Short-Field was one of them! Always good to work on our craft!
4 for 4: Love the second tip of energy management. It reminds me to be aware of the importance of proper positioning of my power levers to achieve the desire outcome.
4 for 4. Another great video. Perfect timing because that's part of what we are working on.
Keep it up!
By the numbers! Excellent lesson, 4/4 toward 31/31. Safest 2022
4 for 4! Just started my Instrument rating this week and I’m excited to learn and grow.
4 / 4 off to an great run. Very helpful information.
4 for 4...Thanks for the tips and reminders. Great chatting with you at Oshkosh again last year. C-ya!
Currently perfecting my short field landings. Ready for check ride pretty much
Thanks Jason!
4/4...great review as I work through completing commercial certificate this month.
4 for 4....getting a bunch out of this. Bless you and Happy New Year.
Jason, 4 for 4 here too! Your videos, presentations, information and professionalism is second to none. The topics and the instructional way that you present them, as well as the different camera angles and the production of the videos are off the charts as well. I have learned so much from all of your videos, even back to when you were just a skinny young guy with puffy hair. lol. I am very thankful to have you as a vicarious instructor, and you have helped me hone in my flying skills, situational awareness, risk management, ADM, and so much more, and I'll take all of your lessons and tips with me every time I fly. And as you know it, "a good pilot is always learning"!! thanks again Jason, your the best!
Nice POV video. Appreciate your effort putting this together. I keep my hand on the throttle during takeoff and climb out, to assure the throttle doesn't creep out.
New to MzeroA, but 4 for 4 now. Low hour learner, but I am booked for at least 10 hours this month (April). Hopefully the weather cooperates.
4forfour...and I'm 2 flights past solo and still just happy to get a decent landing on the runway. Ready to tighten up a specific point.
4 for 4! Working on commercial ticket, so this is great stuff.
A good pilot is always learning = a good pilot is watching The 31 Day Challenge. 4-4-4 😀 Thank you Jason.
Thanks for coming back with these excellent tips !
4 of 4, started at 3 then watched 1 and 2. All caught up and thank you
4 for 4 Congrats Joshua!! I will be going for mine in the spring
4 for 4!! Hoping the weather clears this weekend in Ohio so i can try some of these tips!!
4 for 4. Really great series! Will do all
Jason, I'm a low time 77yr old rusty pilot and I'm 4 for 4 and can't wait to see the next one! The reason I'm low time is I'm building my last kitplane. Hope to have it int the air before spring! Thank you!
4/4....enjoying the series! Greetings from Nicaragua
4 x4. I got checked out to rent a 172 at Marco last year but if you want a more realistic short field go to everglade city. Fun but a bit rough and narrow
4 for 4! Got to get out and practice those short field tips!!
Earned PPL flying out of Tucson Intl back in 1976 using C-150s with 40 degree flaps. SOP was to call your touchdown point for *each* landing to include a make-believe 50' tree ridge at end of approach. Excellent practice, also fun.
Now retired and 73 years experienced, I'm seriously considering getting back in the sport. (Haven't told my wife yet.) I am thoroughly enjoying your video series.
Hey Jason, I am 4 for 4! 😊
I learned at Hampton NH Airfield where every landing is was short field, on grass. FUN! 4for4!
Glad you are enjoying the series! Thanks for watching!
Great video (as usual)! Keep em' coming!
4 for 4, can’t wait to get back in the air and work on these skills and finish up my private pilot cert. Thanks for all y’all do! ✈️
4/4. This series was great last year and I look forward to the upcoming videos. thanks for keeping me and my passengers safe
4x4, another good reminder to practice various types of landings on a regular basis. Thx, DD
4 4 4 hello again Jason, Energy management is the key for me. I was paranoid at an airport that I used to drop in for breakfast for here in Ontario Canada. The tree line with mature pines just east of the threshold was always intimidating. I’m glad to say now those fears have been overcome by certainly understanding your description of “ Energy management“ no longer do I have to land long and then backtrack to get back to the apron. Thanks For the videos and your tips also the production team . I enjoy doing Shortfields much more now and I believe the Cherokee does as well……!
checkride coming up. i need to practice these some more. but this honestly made them less intimidating i dont practice them enough tbh
Jason, I'm 4 for 4. Keep the good stuff coming.
You make it look so easy ! I’m only 3 for 4. Sure enjoy the videos. You’re good!
4 for 4. I’m prepping for my stage check before my solo.
4 for 4 here. Loving the videos! One of my tips would be energy management, because if you come in even a little bit too fast you’ll float way past your intended touch down point!
4 for 4 , thank for all the tips and advice!!
4 for 4. As usual great video
4 for 4 keep Em coming!
Thanks for the tips. I'll be restarting flight training soon, studying for the written now. Thanks for the great channel !
I have the takeoffs down, just not the short field landings. I think of it as hold short on the breaks!
4 for 4, really enjoying and absorbing all the tips! Thank you Jason!
4 for 4. I appreciate the challenge!
I learned at an airfield with just 400 metres of runway (1312 feet) with a forest not far from the runway (obstacle). I am so glad, I learned these techniques very early. Actually, I chose this airfield for this very reason. In fact, later I had difficulties landing on big runway because I was flaring too early and too high.
You can find a video of my airfield and ,e explaining how to land in my list. Unfortunately, it is in German. But, you will get the idea…
4 4 4. Appreciate all the production that went into this 31 Day Challenge for you MZA Staff!
4 for 4, Can't wait to get back to flying! Just soloed a couple of weeks ago and have been grounded because of Covid since.
Thanks for all the videos Jason!
4 for 4!! Great content!!!!
Awesome. 4 for 4. Thanks Jason.
Glad you are enjoying the series! Thanks for watching!
4 for 4, ready for more 🤪
4 for 4. Keep it up!!!
Glad you are enjoying the series! Thanks for watching!
4/4, Jay!
4 for 4, can’t wait to go flying again and practice
Number 4 for me! Your speed was just a little too fast for a short field landing. It was a bunch of float. My approach on short field Landing is 5 kts above the bottom of the green arc. Then when I reduce power I have zero energy and I usually can do a roll out in less than 800 feet.
Day 4!!!! Learning so much!!!
Glad you are enjoying the series! Thanks for watching!
Just passed my checkride with the help of your online course and still watching your videos to help keep me sharp. Thanks and keep them coming!
Are you based out of Marco? Would love to do a refresher with you guys sometime.
4/4 Can't wait for Friday so I can fly again after a long 3 months.
4/4 from Hungary.
I will practice these next time I fly! I am 4 for 4
Glad you are enjoying the series! Thanks for watching!
Thanks.
4 for 4, awesome videos keep em coming
Glad you are enjoying the series! Thanks for watching!
4 for 4. Thanks
Airspeed and altitude is key to avoiding floating that you can’t afford. Do you do aerodynamic breaking on short field landing, or just soft field? How much do you have to why about yaw from left turning tendency when you release the brakes for a full power short field takeoff?
That "obstacle" seemed to be way out on approach? Is that typical for the checkride? If so, seems like you could just do a normal approach, just a little above glide slope? Honest question. Thanks
Thanks anyway!
Well done!
Currently about to get my PPL, just went over short field landings with my CFI a couple of days ago, so once you clear your obstacle, you manage your power right until you touch down and get ready to flare? Where I’m messing up is I’m not keeping enough power in and flaring too high on this maneuver
4 4 4 thank you
Wait a minute. Can you do that short fiels again but while clearing an imaginary 50 foot obstacles coming out of the numbers. With the touching point being anywhere in the 1000 footers.
4 for 4 ... catching up
4 for 4 🤘
Great video!
4 for 4 !!!
Nice
My impression was that you're very far from the airfield while flying the pattern. In case of an engine failure there's no way you'd make it back to the airfield. Or is it just a video illusion and you'd totally be able to come back and land safely?
My CFII told me that after touchdown I should retract the flaps for better braking, but is that really a must?
Hello Henrique. As I gained more flight experience my instructor also informed me that retraction of the flaps upon landing was going to help a great deal in controlling the aircraft while on the ground, by doing so you place more weight of the aircraft on the wheels because of the decreased left from zero flaps . The instructor also advised me as the aircraft begins to slow down you can use full aft yoke input to create aerodynamic breaking.I practically do this all the time especially when I need to get off the active runway quickly it also saves much wear and tear on the brakes for the Older Cherokee I fly.
@@bryant3483 Yes I understand how it might help, but my question is more about whether or not it would be a required action for the checkride.
I doubt any DE would fail your check ride for that (they are not looking for perfection), but they might mention this to you during the debrief if retracting the flaps is specifically called out in the POH for your airplane (under Normal Operations > Short Field Landing). That’s the case for Cessna T182T for example.
@@christophvz yeah that’s a good point.
4/4!
4 for 4!
How do I get the podcasts?
Dont be fearful of practicing these. Just remember you always have a contingency plane of a GO-AROUND if you are too low / too slow..... Fly safe everyone.
Binge watching 4 4
Thanks for watching!
4 for 4! So easy to just get in to the habit of flying and not practicing these needed techniques.
Still waiting to hear the tips...
4:4!
4/4
4 for 4, see you tomorrow!👨✈
4 for 4!!
Glad you are enjoying the series! Thanks for watching!
Day 4 of 4 of the 31 day safer pilot challenge.

Short field landing at 70knots?
4for4 me always
4x4!
