Karl Denver was one of my dear old mums favourites. I still have all of his LPs that belonged to her. He was a very good singer from an era when you had to have talent and charisma to make it in show business. Not like these days when someone in the family manages to get on telly then the next thing is the whole bloody family are on telly with not an iota of talent amongst them all. Bring back the old days. Great video. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
I tend to agree as it appears many others do judging by the recent reaction to Brad's son Barney who although a good musician (and seems a nice enough person) is no actor or TV presenter.
I worked in the kitchens of Wooton fire service college, when this came out. I was prearing the veg. & broke into singing it, as lovely echo! Only then, was I aware, of faces at the door, smilling! My first audience! I carried on, from that day, & sung along to other karl Denvers & slim whitman, & could yodel. Im 66 now, & the yodel is gone, but, stil sing with the U3A singing for Fun group, here in Crawley.
Thanks DelTankBrav.........It is way back when I posted that I would love to hear this song again, still sounds as I remember it from when I was about 16, that would be about 1962. Believe it or not.......I was able to sing along virtually word perfect after all these years. THANKS AGAIN.
Brilliant. Have just retired and am tracing my music from the 60's. Used to like Karl but never appreciated just how good he was, his vocals are just amazing. Am about to buy his greatest hits CD so that I and can blast him out in the car.
KEVIN NEILL (Lead Guitarist) Kevin died peacefully on Saturday March 13th 2010 at six o'clock in the evening, surrounded by his family at his home in Manchester. Kevin's career spanned over six decades, as a trombone player with bands like Joe Loss and Eric Winstone, as a guitar player with the Karl Denver Trio and finally as a member of The Bachelors for the last 15 years.
I have seen Kevin on stage in Swindon at the Wyvern Theatre when he appeared with the NEW Bachelors he would be introduced as the Third Man He would then do a rendition of the Harry Lime theme
I haven't listened for a while. Thanks for uploading DelTangBrav. I don't know about you but I find certain songs take me back like a time machine. This takes me back to when I was about 15 ( 1961 ).
Thank you for uploading this song which has a very special meaning for me. I bought this single as a present for my boyfriend Next time I saw him he told me that he did not want to say goodbye, we were together for 50 years until 10 months ago when he died, and I believe we will never ever say goodbye. My husband and I met Karl Denver and his trio in a club in Bedford UK and that was the last time I saw him sing this song. You have bought back some very happy memories. Thank you.
I'm back again.............love to have a listen to this track now and again. First heard it when I was about 15. I'm 70 now. Can't keep a good song down.... I've just realised how diverse my music taste is. Before this I was listening to ' Knights of Cydonia ' by Muse. Live at Wembley in 2007 is best version.
+texetera Good to see you back - it was because I saw you asking for this song that I made this my first attempt at uploading - nine years ago next month.
Belated thanks for that! for some reason it never hit my mailbox. Hope you don't mind if I post the lyrics in the comments, I want to sing along with it. I;ll undoubtedly murder it! I saw in one of your clips that you had served in the 60s and 70s-me too. Did you know that KD had served in Korea with The Argylls? So it is said in various sources, such as his obituary here: www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/obituary-karl-denver-1075038.html The Argylls had a brutally hard time in Korea, which might explain his drinking.
There was a radio tribute to Karl Denver in 2000 after Karls passing in 1998 and I heard the last part only of the show, and the final song played was Never Goodbye, I had never heard this before, but it was so moving that I went out and bought a Best of Karl Denver CD just for this, amazing voice.
Truly an excellent nostalgic reaction Philip. I'm an old Scots lad who lived in London when I first came out of the forces 1968. My first purchase was a Karl Denver Lp. My London mates couldn't relate to it. My Jamaican pals absolutely loved it. 😅
Thanks for posting this. This brought back memeories of my 10 years older big brother who bought this and many other KD songs when I was a kid. Sadly bgoth are no longer with us. This is a melodic and individual as I remeber it, many thanks for your posting.
Thanks for this track.I haven't heard it for thirty odd years but it sounds exactly as I remember it.Even after all that time,I was still able to sing along immediatly.I have asked loads of mates over the years,if they knew the track and nobody did.I can prove it at last....Thanks,Terry.
Karl Denver came to live on Sunnyside rd in Droylsden m/c for a short time and lads and girls used to hang about on the corner trying to get a glimpse of him, we knocked at his door one night and I asked for his autograph which he kindly obliged he signed it on a scrap of paper, which I still have. I think he had STILL in the charts competing with Ken Dodds version,Beatlemania was beginning, little did I realise that Karl had The Beatles on his show a few times ! This was Nov 1963 a fab time.
By jove, that brings back memories! Karl's records were amongst the first that we bought when my parents gave me a Dansette for Christmas when I was little! I still have them somewhere. Thanks for your work in putting this one up! James :-)
@texetera So was I, rexetera! Just shows you & I still have a memory, for the old songs. I played some Slim Whitman just now, & dug out his readers digest box set! What memories!
I remember this song being one of six British entries for the Eurovision Song Contest in 1962 and as you have mentioned the entirely forgettable 'Ring A Ding Girl' was the one that went forward. One of the others was 'Alone Too Long' by Frank Ifield just a few months before he became famous with his million seller 'I Remember You'
I think there is an almost unwritten rule amongst us who upload Karl's recordings, that unless we have a better recording or a different version we don't upload what is already on RUclips. I have a copy of this but also know that it is already on RUclips but due to a slight error is not searchable, The exclamation mark at the end of what should be "Yelle!" has unfortunately been turned upside down forming an " i " if you search for: ":Karl Denver - Yellei" - you should find it..
My late brother bought The EPs shown here, brought back memories many thanks. Karl, according to his publicity, was in The Merchant Navy and he jumped ship in the US, and ended up in Denver, hence stage name. Could be BS, of course.
Thanks for your comment - I am happy to know this song brought back some happy memories for you. It is those memories that can help when you lose someone close to you. That is a thing about Karl and the other two* they treated their fans as friends and would not snub anyone. *Not sure if the other two were Gerry and Kevin - or Keith and Kevin - hence me referring to them as "The other two" Best Wishes David.
I was astonished to find it hadn't been uploaded Clare - it *NEARLY* slipped through the net. I've now remedied things and hope you enjoy, especially the celebrity dancers at the musical break ☺. A Little Love A Little Kiss - Karl Denver
I have never known Karl come up with a 'bad' song, and this is one of my favourites, although I can understand it may be an acquired taste. I acquired that tast over 50 years ago with 'Wimowheh', covered many times since by many artists as 'The Lion Sleeps Tonight', but never quite the same. Thanks a ton for the post. Limey Dave
I suggest you listen to some of Karl's other songs on this channel, "My Lovely World and You" is just one example of how he could, and did, sing in a softer mode. Another that comes to mind is "Irish Eyes" (also on this channel)
Does anyone remember Karl Denvers Highland Fling track? My mum used to play it and I would love to hear it again. It was on a Decca LP as I recall. Steve
Was always fascinated with his voice when I was young I love all his songs I'm glasweigan I remember my father loved him what a voice oh to be young again I'm 70 now 50s 60s music I was brought up with plus Frank Dino Tony Sammy all of them oh not to forget Judy
Hi to all KD fans. I have met Karl many times and without doubt the best voice I have ever heard. My son Steve was also a good friend of his when he lived in Benidorm. I have a tape I recorded of Karl singing in Benidorm but don't know how to upload it. I also believe Bob Patterson has a copy of it along with one of his best friends from Liverpool named Ronnie. Also been to Karl's grave in Stockport Cemetary to pay my respects. God Bless and Rest in Peace Karl.
@ynotime2dream2 Thanks for your comments - I'm glad you liked it - if you haven't heard that before I am sure there are many other Karl Denver songs on this channel you haven't heard before and will like - Try "My World of Blue" to start off with..
@eddyfinkful This is delayed reaction since you posted this 9 months ago.........I was listening to Slim Whitman on RUclips and his voice is great. Just as I remember from late 50s/60s. That's the first time I have heard his version of 'I Remember You'. I wonder if he did that version before Frank Ifield or after.
I am very sorry to hear that sad news, will you pass on my condolences to Claire,. Could you please clarify the date the 19th March 2010 isn't until tomorrow.
@DelTangBrav As a young boy, I used to work in kitchen, preparing veg, for the cook. I would sing this, & other karl denver songs, as the acoustics was good, & I was on my own, but, often heard, ! In a world of my own, until I would catch glimse of people poking theitr head around the corner, grinning at me!
I actually had that Ace of Spades LP!!! The song Rosemarie was quite a feat of the vocal chords too. By the way, anybody know where or what Karl Denver is doing these days?

Great to hear this again as this was my late mother's song she loved singing at New Year. Rip Karl and my Mum x
What a voice Karl had. There is no one to compare with him, so distinctive.

Still in love with Karl's music. First heard Wimoweh when I was 14 and went out and bought the album. The most underrated singer in the business.

This would be a good item for the "This Magic Moment" spot on Tony Blackburn's "Sounds Of The Sixties".
My grandmother had this played at her funeral, needless to say his yodeling lifted the mood haha.

Dont know why karl distorts the shape of the word "dear" when starting the line "whisper my dear" he sings it as "whisper my deeo" not his accent.
Super share, my friend :)
I'm glad you liked it Jenny - Karl did record a few in German.
I actually had that Ace of Spades LP!!! The song Rosemarie was quite a feat of the vocal chords too. By the way, anybody know where or what Karl Denver is doing these days?
not much as Karl passed away in 1998

There's absolutely no need for apologies - I was just joking. I'm sure your interest is appreciated by those who see your comments.
for you dad never goodbye xxxxx
love it thanks
thanks good upload
Never goodbye, that means we're parting,
That means a tear, instead of a smile,
Whisper adios,* "My heart is with yo.", say "Au revoir." dear, but never, never goodbye,
Say "Arrivederci." , or "Auf weidersen.", tell me "I'll be seeing you.", "Till we meet again,"
Never goodbye, that means we're parting,
That means a tear, instead of a smile,
Whisper "Adios."* "My heart is with you.", say "Au revoir". dear, but never, ever "Goodbye",
Never goodbye, that means we're parting,
That means a tear, instead of a smile,
Whisper adios,* my heart is with you, say au revoir dear, but never never ever, goodbye,
But never never ever, goodbye.
* Like Carl, i'm from Glasgow, but I haven't a fecking clue what he's singing here!
It's taken me some time to possibly find the answer. I think the "mystery words" are "Mi cuòre" Italian for "My Heart" - so the mention of "My Heart" directly after are a translation of what was previously said,
DelTangBrav
Official. It is "whisper my dear' Karl sings in his song Never goodbye. Hope that wraps it guys trust me
Cheers!!
Thank you for writing these lyrics, my grandad passed away early hours on Monday, he loved Karl denver, this is going to be one of his funeral songs and my mum wanted to know what he says when he mentions the first language (Italian "my heart") I can't thank you enough

I was a young teen in the early 60's and although we liked Karls songs, I think his powerful vocal style got slightly monotonous and maybe he should have tried some soft crooning now and again
