      Completely agree - Wiggins is the real deal. If he doesn't track down Hampton and it's 14-0 UNC, it's a whole different ballgame - and maybe Clemson catches up, maybe not. Also, he just missed doing the same thing against Miami last month when they broke an 80 yard TD run - he kicked it into high gear and knocked the ball loose a split second after the Miami RB crossed the goal line.

    • @johncooper2265
      @johncooper2265 Год назад

      You mean by both Wiggins & the replay officials botching the review. A defender who's not forced out of bounds MUST RE-ESTABLISH HIMSELF INBOUNDS WITH BOTH FEET CLEARLY INBOUNDS BEFORE he can make contact with either an opposing ballcarrier or the ball itself. Wiggins made a helluva effort & showed great speed & hustle, BUT... he was still out of bounds at the moment he'd made contact with Hampton's arm & the ball! Since it is NOT up for debate that he had stepped out of bounds, the replay officials really botched this call. In addition to checking to see IF the ball was stripped before it broke the goal line plane, the replay officials needed to review IF Wiggins had re-established himself. Clearly, there's NOT evidence that SHOWS that he did! With the on-field ruling being that there hadn't even been a fumble, the burden of proof for the overturning of that call & rewarding Clemson with possession also would've carried that the forced fumble was a legal act by Wiggins. There certainly IS clear evidence that Wiggins stepped out of bounds! Not up for debate. It very much looks like he's STILL OUT OF BOUNDS at the moment of contact! Certainly, there is NO clear evidence that shows that Wiggins had properly re-established himself! And, again... for Clemson to get possession of that ball... that clear evidence is needed! This botched call was huge. With the penalty properly called, UNC retains possession at the 6-inch line with first & goal.

But for whatever reason none of North Carolina, NC State, Wake Forest, or Duke can never get past mediocrity on the field. I've learned after nearly 50 years to never buy the hype. Every so often UNC will ride a bit of momentum to get in the conversation but they will fold against the first challenge they face, then the bottom always falls out for them. When you have no defense, fumble and drop passes and absolutely no offensive line to be found anywhere on the field, coupled along with the worse set of coaches in college football today, starting and finishing with Mack Brown, kinda hard to shine as a QB!! He definitely has been highly overrated all along but has had no supporting cast to help him grow at all!!! Both years at Carolina, all Mack has done is rely and live on hopium in search of ridiculous and pathelic wins!!! If Mack would focus on improving his staff and his players, this team would have been an awesome team this season!! But he would rather make excuses for his losses and that is losses even when has a game in the win column! I say time to pack it up with Mack and his ridiculous coaching staff and look for a better head coach!! Recruiting will definitely fall off after this season, I'm betting on because of the coaches alone!! NC State will hand us the same fate because of a coaching staff that cannot handle a group of young men with attitude and personality problems!! Not to mention, no heart for School!!! Just saying! If Mack Brown can't stop going for it on 4th down at midfield then that hurts his defense immediately, and that loses games. Clemson had the 6th ranked overall defense coming into this game. Unc had the 3rd best offense in the country. It was gonna be highs on both sides….

      @Seattle-2017 Год назад

      Clemson has a very good defense - but not great. Of course they were going to give up some yards against a high octane offense like UNC, but they forced the turnovers that are a characteristic of good defenses.

    UNC (and Duke, for that matter) are overrated every single year and by midseason they both prove it. As the season winds down, we see how they should never have been rated.
    These are not basketball teams. Stop overrating them.

      Yeah, right - it's always "rigged" when your team loses. Get your eyes examined and watch again at 1:07, where Clemson DT Peter Woods slaps the ball out of Hampton's grasp - you can see the ball loose to Hampton's left - when Hampton was completely upright.
