My Opa had a Nederlands Terkpaard or a Dutch Draft in English, he was a beast of a thing, huge not just in height but in muscle and weight. He loved working, but when he didn't he got fussy. You would try to take him out for a walk and he wouldn't budge, make him change stables and he would just stand there, looking at you, but if you got out his work harness, well then you had one happy horse. He lived happily until 3 years ago when he hurt himself due to old age so my Opa retired him and he passed away just last year, 31 years of age. His name was Sterk which is Dutch for Strong.
@@lauratirions7654 thanks Laura! I have never seen a Belgian draft of this color in the USA! What is the color called? Dunn? I have Percherons and know many people who own Belgians, but no one has anything that looks like those in the video. Much thanks 😊
She has the strongest concentration I have ever seen! most horse pull, give a little and need a little push to get going again. all she needs is the go-ahead, and she is through it with very obvious determination. WOW. most amazing horse I have seen.
Upset people - Please note, this teamster is more "whoa" that "go" with mare. I see him popping the reins to get her attention back to him, otherwise she looks like she'd pull those logs into the next town. She is very well behaved for being SO game to pull. She obviously loves to throw her weight into that collar and make things move. She certainly is bred for the job. Her Teamster yells encouragement during the pulling contests and her expression is keen. And aside from needing equipment adjustments (better padded collar, better harness and a different bit) I say good for them. He found a GEM in this mare and his admiration and affectionate pats are proof of that.
Thank you ! :D totally agree. Also loved that he showed he could do it with just his voice and nothing physical ^^, but yea. He needs some gear that isnt a hand-me-down

Fyi for those who don't know, draft horses love to work, they're like bodybuilders. In fact, they have to work so that their muscles could continue to support their very dense and heavy bones. If anyone is saying this is abuse or forced labour are just ignorant
@@Queenofgreen515 You can make any animal work with the right kind of incentive. I wish I was as naive, because there are some horrible instruments that equestrians use.
The oldest horse ever recorded was a draft horse that pulled the barges down the channels in England. When he retired, he would rush the fence when he would see boats, and line up, wait and walk slowly along the fence slightly a head of the channel boats as if he were pulling them. Old Billy the Barge Horse, allegedly lived to 62 years old. So.... They do enjoy working. Most horses in captivity (THAT'S the biggest difference right there) typically enjoy "working" whether that's riding or working. Are there abusive people out there? Yeah. Duh. There are bad people, period, out in the world in any job or hobby or walk in life. HOWEVER, to assume EVERYONE with a working draft horse is "abusing their animal"... Just, stop.
Realmente tu eres un ignorante ,cualquier animal está diseñado en su cuerpo para soportarse así mismo ,no necesita estar haciendo esto para mantenerse 🤦💩
Crazy Horse That's just a saying. An average horse has about 15hp. A draft horse is much more powerful since its bred to haul shit ton of weight. And this specific horse looks pretty much on steroids. So its gotta be at least 20hp.
Beautiful girl, doing what she's born and bred to do, and loving it! For all those who scream "abuse": Do you see that several times she is without rein and still doing her work? Petra does know her strength and that she has the ability to stop when she wants, but doesn't because she ENJOYS HER WORK. She's well fed, well cared for, and looks like a fit and healthy draft.
@• Nala • I assume the Spanish horses you're talking about are the Lipizzaner from spanish riding schools? Those horses aren't trained in fear. They also are kept better than most people. Most trick horses are trained through proper horsemanship, not out of fear. Making a horse do intricate tricks without their consent is actually a lot harder than earning their partnership in the act, and people tend to do things the easy way.
You'll note that the handler is giving three commands: "Yee", "Ha", and "Ho". Ho is stop Yee is right. Haw is left. And that is the basis for the "rebel yell" war cry, "yee haw!". Yes, that's where it comes from. Actually the word is "gee" but Americans turned it into "yee".
@@Dennis-qz7md the horse is not abused (? If you knew horse body language, you could tell that this horse is pretty relaxed and concentrated, also they were bred for this type of jobs, there's literally nothing wrong here, keep in mind that you can't force a +1200 lb prey animal to do something they don't want to.
Looks like Petra knows her work! Such a good made. I'm really glad the guy doesn't use a whip to "encourage" her like most people would. Instead he uses his reins to encourage her with certain movements, like shaking/trembling them. The even wiser move being he uses his voice over all of that. Petra doesn't seem very uncomfortable, her ears are neutral despite the flopping of them. Her body displays only the pulling stress and she doesn't appear to want to get away from her trainer let alone the logs. Seems like Petra thinks it's just another day on the job. Way to go Petraa!
In competition it is illegal to use anything but your voice to ask the draft horse to pull. You can't even slap the reins. Petra just loves to pull. I love how she turns left and right at a call.
What a beautiful working relationship this man and horse have! At first I wasn't crazy about the chain being used as a girth, but then considered that with the amount of strain being put on it, perhaps its to make sure nothing breaks, which could definitely cause her injury. Its obvious that he is very proud of her,she looks very well taken care of. She even looks proud of herself!
My grandparents used horses on the farm and logged with them during the winter. They always spoke of the great respect and wonderful partnership they had with their horses.♥️
I love how you can tell the horse knows it's doing a good job. When you've been around horses for so long you learn that they love to fulfill jobs, if she didn't it, she would show it, she enjoys what she does cause she's made for it and is fulfilling her instincts
People says it's cruel but these horses live to work, they need it, it's in their DNA, they are treated like royalty by their owners, amazing creatures.
I love how some morons in here seem to think that this is abuse. As someone who has used horses for pulling, plowing, logging etc, I can tell you that these guys LOVE being worked. Everytime I would go to the stable to hook them up, they were like a dog who just got told they were going bye bye. They are so eager to please, and even though a tractor could do the job faster, it makes them so happy to see their owners happy. It would be abuse not to work these horses, it is no different then when you throw ball with your dog, it is something they love doing, trust me, if they didn't want to do it, they won't, and there is NOTHING you can do to make a 1500LB + animal do if he didn't want to, they are not a poodle, and they will let you know when they have had enough.
Jacob Schneider Oh yeah, I’m sure horses love struggling to pull a piece of wood twice the weight of them and slipping on their feet. Let alone getting exhausted and whipped hard if they’re not satisfying the owner. They love grazing in the grass and being with a herd of horses not pulling wood.
Lauren B, these horses are bred to work and pull like sled dogs are bred to pull sleds and Border Collies to herd sheep. You deny them of doing so and you'll end up with unhappy and nervous animals with behavior problems. I've seen it happen too often in dogs, unfortunately.
She needs a bigger collar and that shank bit could be replaced with a snaffle but other than that I see nothing wrong with this. This is what draft horses were bred for, to do farm work and logging. Saying that this is cruel is like saying it's cruel to do husky dog sled races in the arctic! She's obviously well fed and seems to be treated well. Considering the abuse that goes on in other equine sports I'm surprised to see so many people screaming 'abuse' here, racehorses, big lick Tennessee Walkers and rodeo horses go through actual abuse, whereas this mare seems willing, alert and happy to be doing this job. She doesn't have that beaten down fearful expression I have seen way to many times on some competition horses of all kinds.
***** These days they ARE bred for this, otherwise they wouldn't be used for it. Ever hear of selective breeding? Just look at how muscled this MARE is. I've never seen a riding horse mare this well muscled before, only stallions/geldings. She was obviously bred for this which is why she's so good at it.
***** I strongly disagree. Horses are VERY expensive animals and these people don't look very rich, meaning they own this mare for a reason. She doesn't have that beaten down abused look that I've seen one to many times in competition horses. She genuinely looks comfortable to be doing this job. This isn't just done for entertainment, how do think people back in the day hauled logs and firewood? With horses such as this mare. Horses are not dogs and cats, people usually own horses for a purpose and IMO as long as the horse is not abused or forced I have no problem with it. A 'real' horse, as you say, is NOT a pet kept 'behind the fences'. That is an absurd thing to say! Horses kept just as pets are often very overweight and ignored which can lead to health problems and a shorter lifespan. I am sure she has down time where she is allowed to roam free in a fence but to say that her life would be better if she was just a pet is, IMO, niave.
***** This horse loves her job! You can tell by her temperament, placement of her ears, her reaction to her owners, and how she throws herself into the collar and pulls as hard as she can. Horses are kept both as pets and for a purpose, as mine are. Like dogs, horses love having a purpose and reason for doing things. My horses are steady working farm horses, as well as therapy animals. They have light snaffle bits, well padded saddle pads, comfortable saddles, and are given the best that I can offer. Just this mare is doing hard work doesn't mean she is in pain. Most horses you'll know are stressed out will have the whites of their eyes showing, sweat heavily forming along the chests, shoulders, and down their flanks. they will be chomping heavily as well at the bit and nostrils flared. This mare? She's fine and she loves her life.
***** Don't anthropomorphize. Horses can easily get bored standing in a feild all day. They don't have 'fun', they don't have TV or video games, they literally just stand around in a pen all day doing nothing except eating. In the wild they would be constantly on the move covering many miles a day to find food and water. IME horses in captivity seem to enjoy having a purpose as long as they aren't abused or forced, not all but most do because they are intelligent beings.
***** Did you not read my comment? I said MOST horses, not ALL! Obviously each horse is an individual but in MY experience even a lazy horse enjoys being put to work a couple days a week. Learn to read before jumping on people! Do you even have experience with horses? Most horses are not kept in lavish multiple acre pastures, certainly not all are kept on grass! Ever hear of founder and laminitis?
Just love all the people who know nothing about draft horses call this cruel. These horses love to do this kind of work. Petra is obviously very well trained and taken care of. She weighs well over a ton so believe me if she didn't feel like moving she wouldn't.
I mean, that's like with police dogs. You usually see them happy when they're on-duty. While it's not carrying loads, it's a physical and dangerous work, yet no one's forcing them to do it. Must be said that this only works with fully domesticated animals. Cats would be much trickier to handle, even though I recall stories of cats in palliative care who appeared to work with humans just fine without running all over the place causing trouble.
0:25 I love how she finds the tension point of the load without permission. She knows the drill...and is old enough to do that without repercussion. Awesome video!
This is not animal abuse, these beautiful animals LOVE to pull, they were bred for just that. Years back when they had to pull all day everyday it was a different story but now these horses are pretty pampered and well taken care of. The only sad horses are the ones left in the stalls while they watch their siblings pulling! 😃👍
@I trigger people that’s okay. I work out almost everyday and have aches and pains because of it. I still love it. Life is both pain and pleasure. No need to be afraid of either.
@I trigger people well. Active people tend to live longer than non-active. They don’t simply wear out like a pencil. Ben Franklin said “ a used key never rusts”
Your assumption is naive and can't be proved. I think that provided the stalls are big enough and the horses are not tied up they probably would prefer to be there resp. in the pasture-ground instead of being overexerted. "...well taken of"???: What about their tails? They are mostly amputated although the law prohibits this since many years!!!
I trigger people a rubber band needs to be stretched properly and it will last. A rubber band that sits and collects dust will rot away. Learn your shít before u say stupid stuff.
Ok everyone needs to stop saying " this is abuse. The horse doesn't like this." This is not abuse. Abuse is beating a horse with a whip until it does what u want it to. And even it u whip the horse, it is more likely to not do as it is told. If the horse didn't like what is was doing it would have its ears pinned back, it would be bucking out, and would refuse. As u can tell in this video, the people are not beating their horse, the horse has its ears up, it is behaving and it is not bucking about. Horse were bred for this kind of stuff. Horses were doing this long before people rode them... If u wanna see avoided go back 100 years and see how people asked their horses to do something. And half of the people that say this is abuse don't even ride so please please please shut up
"everyone" isnt saying that. Not even a lot of people are saying that. One or two are saying that, but you will always get one or two idiots in any situation.
Damn! Look at the muscles on that Draft Horse! Draft horses are so gentle and they love to pull. I'm sure this big Belgian gets some tasty grain after a workout.
@@runner9528 Yes, an animal bred for at least a thousand years to have the instinct to want to work and a tractable nature, literally SHAPED BY HUMANITY to want to pull, needed to be horrifically beaten with rusty hooks and whips to get it to obey. Not only that, we should take this animal that we've literally made to want to pull, take away its purpose so it can languish in boredom, and let the breed go extinct. You "everything is abuse" people are real fuckin' brilliant.

Heh, I have a draft, she is 3yo... possibly it is due to youth or she is in the "not most horses" category, but she is quiet a stupid thing, more like a dog than horse. She over-reacts to daily things, though she's getting better. Funniest thing she's done is take a turn too hard when goofing around in her paddock, and instead of balancing herself she rolled over and got up to keep trotting.
Draft horses have to be calm. You have have something that massive and powerful that acts like a ninny. Most of them do get perky and prancy when they know they are going to get to show off and pull something, but other than that, they are zen.

@@marissamunch5169 obvious you haven't dealt with animals. Stacey Rigby they can but there are many other horses that do that. These specific horses where bread for pulling tons of weight and I'm pretty sure the horse would know that too.
BEAUTIFUL STRONG NOBLE ANIMAL!... Her owner/teamster obviously loves and cares well for her and she seems to love her job!. Never a whip no yelling/screaming at her. Not even usually a bridle just a halter and a line. Also at the end of her pulls she is shown by him that she has done well. Yes she works hard. that is what she is bred for but this animal is obviously loved and well cared for. Her owner each time shows his appreciation for her work. I have a Percheron mare that I have pulled logs out with, she is 17.3 and 2200#. She is very much loved, healthy and slick rides, drives and yes WORKS. Always has a soft mouth with foam, always willing. You cant force that from any animal. I even have competed in lower level dressage with her and she has done well. Judge comments, "soft with a beautiful bend"

@@oats8854 Somehow, I doubt you have the right world record... Two American Belgians (same breed, different strain from this gal) pulling 18 *thousand* pounds. Thats 9k apiece. ruclips.net/video/VBy9Bz6NrXE/видео.html
That horse loves her job no way is she abused. Trust me if she didn't want to do it she wouldn't.The cruelest thing you could do to a horse is leave it in a field getting fat. Please don't comment about horses when you don't understand them.
Mark you are correct. There is much animal cruelty and suffering in the world and in the web to see. This was not that. That mare put her heart and sole into pulling and knew when she did well!! I watched this and thought wow, what a horse and what a team they made. His verbal cues for left, right, stop, go, back etc were calm and steady, it was amazing. Just voice. People find it hard to understand how much animals love to work sometimes because people have become inherantly lazy. My dogs will chase rabbits around the paddocks until they can hardly breathe. Like crazed maniacs!! I dont make them. My horses sometimes gallop around the paddock for fun until they are heaving and dripping in sweat. They love it too. Havent you ever watched a dog run and run, flat out and thought.... wish i was that motivated!?! Some animals enjoy pushing themselves. Some dont. That mare went full throttle at a simple one word command. She wasnt threatened or scared. She was in fantastic condition. Clearly very well cared for. In return for that she does a few meters pulling then got to rest and recover. Its in her genes to pull the way a husky loves to pull a sled. No different. Except her power was a sight to behold. She would even stop and look back for her pat at the end. And yes the slap was a pat. And that horse knows it. My big dogs love a pat like that. They get excited and push each other out the way for a good thumping pat. Have another look. You cant make an animal try that hard, just by saying a few words.
While I don't think this horse is being abused, I don't agree with the phrase "If a horse doesn't want to do it, it won't". You're thinking mules. Horses are the only animal in the world that you can force to run itself to death, I've seen riders force their horses to do something they clearly didn't want to do but the horses were afraid to protest because they would be "corrected" somehow. My horse hates to jump, but I witnessed his old owner forcefully kick him over a jump that he didn't want to go over. You can easily make a horse do whatever you want it to do, all you have to do is kick and whip it hard enough. That's much worse than putting a horse in a field and letting it get fat.
+Armored Wings Thats the whole point... That horse was not flogged kicked, whipped etc. If it were, I would have had a whole lot to say about it... and it would not have been praise. But in my opinion - that horse looked happy and well cared for. I guess its just difference in opinion is all. And for the record horses FREQUENTLY let their owners know when they dont enjoy something. Be it jumping dressage etc. The trick is to match the horse with the sport they enjoy to get 100% out of them. The really successful ones do often enjoy their work.
Armored Wings man im having trouble believing you. I doubt you could even hurt this horse with a kick. Itd be like a mosquitoe bite lol how strong was that horses previous owner? The one thing i could see that would force a horse into doing anything would be for food. But you arent gonna make this monster do anything it doesnt want. This horse could kill an infinite amount of weaponless men.
She has a huge, wide, muscular body and butt with shorter, thick legs and a great attitude. Even though I don't know much about horses or pulling with them, I would think, she should be a great puller. Also, look at the pride she displays at the ribbon ceremony and at times when pulling. Beautiful.
She is a great looking little draft! The only thing I'd worry about is her tail is loose and not braided up, could get caught in the traces while she works.
My grandfather used to do this for a living back in the 1930's - 40's I guess. They used to drag the cut trees down the hill to the train using a windlass like at the start of the video. The ones they used had a steel plate that went on the front of the log so it didn't dig in.
Horses are only meant to carry 20% of there body weight, even if it is a big horse. This can do severe damage to a horse's spine and more. I would hate to do this to any animal. These people who say it is abuse aren't freaking out they are taking a horse's pain into consideration. JUST BECAUSE IT IS TRADITION DOES NOT MAKE IT OK!
@@jada1760 well... she's not carrying it. Pulling things can actually be beneficial to a horses back although I don't know to what weight point that applies. Might not be true for such heavy loads. But still.
Seems like the people who do know horses in this comment section are reasonable and know what they’re talking about. Seems like the people who DON’T know are being to sensitive and talking out of their ass/ getting offended.
@@timtam6906 The horse obviously doesn't care abt the ribbon, we know that. The owner is probably happy though and the horse can feel that. Also it probably knows it did some good work and did what it was told. You could tell by the forward ears and everything that it was in a good mood. I think that's what they are trying to say :)
@@timtam6906 Horses are not machines. They have feelings. If you've been on the back of a horse after a good ride, you know they have enjoyed it by the way they rub their head against you after you dismount and how they behave afterward, just like I feel after a great workout.
It's not abuse! These horses are made to work.. It's how they get their exercise. They need to be challenged in order to stay healthy and strong and feel good. Just like us humans!
I love horses, we had 2 if these for over 15 years. Best times of my childhood. They were very strong and smart. Dude, these are such a lovely creatures, they are so loyal to your family, they can get depressed if given to someone.
Lotta heart in that horse! She wants to work; wants to please. Having grown up breaking and training horses with kind measures, I can tell you this is not abuse. It is HEART, people. That horse loves her master and her master, believe it or not, loves her.
beautiful and majestic. To those who think this is abuse. These draft horses were designed to pull. They love it. Keep looking at draft horse pulls and you will see the horses get super excited. This is what they do. Just like rodeo bulls LOOVE bucking.
Petra is indeed the most beautiful Belgian Draft Horse I've seen in quite a while. But as if people don't have anything better to do with such beautiful horses than that... My opinion is that she'd be WAY prettier if i'd see her out in the sun on a beautiful grassy landscape... -.-
If that is your opinion then you've never seen such horses come running in from a beautiful grassy landscape at the sound of their partner's voice, or the jingle of trace chains. These horses love pulling, just as shepherd dogs love herding. As long as they are treated fairly in the training and handling process, it is relaxing and fulfilling for a horse to have such a purpose. This is the purpose for which they were bred, just as we breed dogs for various purposes.
of course she does. she could very easily kill all of them, you can see how powerful she is, but she chooses not to. none of the people are whipping her, therefore they are not forcing her. she shows no signs of trying to resist. of course, if she did show signs of resisting i would not be happy with this video, but she does seem healthy and happy.
im in love with the fact you kept her tail you amazing people, and for all who say its dangerous watch this, or just put it in a bag or wrap or even just plait it you lazy tail chopping ideots, hats off to you guys for keeping her as nature intended, she can still swish flies, communicate and express emotion and be an amazing draft :)
This is why draft horse tails are docked. I wonder how many times her tail has gotten caught and tangled in the tackle. Can only imagine her tail getting caught on something heavy, than that weight pulls back. She's gonna be in a lot of pain. At least braid and wrap the tail before a show or work, that'll help out a lot with having no risk of her tail or spine being injured.
People who complain about horse abuse just don't understand their original purposes, not to mention that back to the days when there's no automobile avaliable, people at that time would use them for everything from towing wagons to huge cannons.
@@jada1760 You don't have to tell anyone. Because you're straight up wrong. Horses bred for work should work. Now when i say that i don't mean worked to death, but they do need worked. The amount of calories those draft horses need to burn everyday is astonishing.
I feel like there may be a couple people worried for this horse. If you are: This horse is clearly well cared for; and look at those MUSCLES!! I love drafts because they have so much power in their pull, and it’s fascinating to watch them work. She’s clearly also not stressed out, she knows exactly what her job is and she throws her weight into it. If she didn’t feel okay she might backpedal, pin her ears, kick, freeze, etc. but her teamster is also doing great at keeping her under control when needed and the communication seems to be good. Makes me want to get a draft once I finish learning how to train horses!
The farmer next to me has a pair of draft horses that seem to really love pulling trees and out of his 100 acre woodlot. As long as they're treated well I see no issue with using an animal for what it was bred for.
Some display of strength! Draft animals are getting more popular. They are superior to machines in many ways. They do less damage when logging than motorized equipment .
Wonder if European armies used these horses to haul cannons around a couple centuries back. Those artillery pieces even during the Napoleonic Wars were NOT light.
Tai Lopez, that "thing" you call, is a lot taller then a bear I'm pretty sure. And i bet it could actually win a fight with a bear as well. The fact that it could pull such weight. Imagine the kick force of that horse, holy crap, a bear wouldn't stand a chance....
Petra Lorenzen a bear would win horses aren’t really made for fighting, a bear has more pointy bits in its mouth and on its paws and some grizzlies are almost as big as the horse
Maybe not what she was born to do, but what she LOVES to do! And if she loves it, and enjoys it, who are any of you to bitch about it. I've worked with teams of work horses, they absolutely LOVE what they're doing!!!! They go crazy and mischievious when they're not working!!!! Tearing down fences, letting all the goats out, breaking into the hay barn. THEY WANT TO WORK!!!!! Please, believe, these huge gentle giants just want to work their asses off! They WANT to be tired at the end of the day, they want nothing more than some good hay, fresh cool water, a bucket of grain, and a good deep bedding to just fall asleep in.

@@Queenofgreen515 You can make any animal work with the right kind of incentive. I wish I was as naive, because there are some horrible instruments that equestrians use.
Then what do they do If some are ever in the wild just take its application to a lumber yard?
Just, stop.

Most trick horses are trained through proper horsemanship, not out of fear. Making a horse do intricate tricks without their consent is actually a lot harder than earning their partnership in the act, and people tend to do things the easy way.

Jacob Schneider some people think every and anything that requires an animal working/ discipline is abuse.
Lauren B, these horses are bred to work and pull like sled dogs are bred to pull sleds and Border Collies to herd sheep. You deny them of doing so and you'll end up with unhappy and nervous animals with behavior problems. I've seen it happen too often in dogs, unfortunately.

Hello Jordan how’s the weather over there
welcome to youtube, where everyone is an expert!
Look at the body shape of that, it’s clear that it is breed for pulling. So strong and beautiful
*****
This horse loves her job!
I agree. There's no way that you're getting that horse to move against its will short of whipping it (which i hope they wouldnt do).

@I trigger people that’s okay. I work out almost everyday and have aches and pains because of it. I still love it. Life is both pain and pleasure. No need to be afraid of either.
@I trigger people well. Active people tend to live longer than non-active. They don’t simply wear out like a pencil. Ben Franklin said “ a used key never rusts”
the horse is having fun, look at her muscles they need to be stretched, its not like anyone is whipping her ass to move it
Your assumption is naive and can't be proved.

These anti-everything people don’t realize that horses were not pets.
@@countessratzass5408 Horses weren't built for carrying things at the start either. They had toes.
@@jada1760 well... she's not carrying it. Pulling things can actually be beneficial to a horses back although I don't know to what weight point that applies. Might not be true for such heavy loads. But still.
I love seeing all the comments saying this is animal cruelty when it is clearly not.
a horse like this is as happy pulling heavy loads as a retriever is getting to play fetch. It's what they're built to do
You asked her?
Its amazing how she responds with simply voice commands
I thought so too. Imagine training her, amazing!
Ik!!! He must really love and trust the owner!!!! I would love to ride him, he must be a dream!!!
She’s incredible. She is lucky to have such an amazing owner
Nothing shows horse power like a draft horse moving a ton of wood.
Yep.
Seems like the people who do know horses in this comment section are reasonable and know what they’re talking about.
Seems like the people who DON’T know are being to sensitive and talking out of their ass/ getting offended.
What a beautiful beast, it almost looks like it enjoys the challenge. Hope it gets the love it deserves.
It certainly enjoys it. It loves to feel powerful. I bet every time it sees that log with wheels it thinks "I'm gonna drag the shit out of this !!!".
She not it
just look how proud she is to win a ribbon!
She does look proud! Those horses have been doing that kind of work for century's, it's in their DNA.

If you think a horse cares about something like that then you're a special kind of idiot
Draft horses are majestic as fuck
It's not abuse! These horses are made to work.. It's how they get their exercise. They need to be challenged in order to stay healthy and strong and feel good. Just like us humans!

I feel oddly compelled to give it a hug
I love horses, we had 2 if these for over 15 years. Best times of my childhood. They were very strong and smart.
Dude, these are such a lovely creatures, they are so loyal to your family, they can get depressed if given to someone.
I love it, every bit of it, I think these horses are so majestic, an awesome mix of beauty & power.
Zeze Andjr tru
So big, strong and beautiful- a good worker
I am in love. Such a monumental animal
Hello Dejan how’s the weather over there
Lotta heart in that horse! She wants to work; wants to please. Having grown up breaking and training horses with kind measures, I can tell you this is not abuse. It is HEART, people. That horse loves her master and her master, believe it or not, loves her.
good
You can see her really trying hard when she pulls. She knows her job.
Poor horse 🐎 😢
beautiful and majestic.
I agree
I aggree to ollywarewolf:)
you should see them coming in from a grassy muddy field, not so pretty then, lol.
With nothing to do. Petra is happy doing her job/shows.
Wonderful Mare! She works willingly for her good owner.
of course she does. she could very easily kill all of them, you can see how powerful she is, but she chooses not to. none of the people are whipping her, therefore they are not forcing her. she shows no signs of trying to resist. of course, if she did show signs of resisting i would not be happy with this video, but she does seem healthy and happy.
No whipping in public, but what happens at home ?
im in love with the fact you kept her tail you amazing people, and for all who say its dangerous watch this, or just put it in a bag or wrap or even just plait it you lazy tail chopping ideots, hats off to you guys for keeping her as nature intended, she can still swish flies, communicate and express emotion and be an amazing draft :)
Hello Luca how’s the weather over there
When the word “horsepower” was coined, this was the breed used for that standard... no joke
This horse defeated Thanos.
People who complain about horse abuse just don't understand their original purposes, not to mention that back to the days when there's no automobile avaliable, people at that time would use them for everything from towing wagons to huge cannons.
I agree.
JUST BECAUSE IT IS FUCKING TRADITION DOES NOT, AND I REPEAT NOT MAKE IT OK! how many times do I have to tell people like you?
@@jada1760 You don't have to tell anyone. Because you're straight up wrong. Horses bred for work should work. Now when i say that i don't mean worked to death, but they do need worked. The amount of calories those draft horses need to burn everyday is astonishing.
Jada Gill it’s absolutely okay. Do you hear yourself when you speak? Draft horses are born and bred to pull heavy ass weight. Don’t get so emotional.
Jada Gill lmao calm down I bet your a feminist too
What a magnificent animal. Petra owns it like a boss!
these bois are built different
Truly
Oh my gawd!! This is insane!!
I want that horse.
You are a moron.
Flame of Mage hvxjc
That Horse is straight out of Skyrim 😂
That is an awesome horse and owner
the owner is bad 👎
Definition of HORSEPOWER 😎
Impressive beasts!!
Its disgusting cruel animal abuse 👎 😡 shame on all of you 👎🤬😡
@@angelaschmalzbauer these horses were made for this fool
Such a magnificent animal, so smart and powerful♥️
Hello Juan how’s the weather over there
Some display of strength! Draft animals are getting more popular. They are superior to machines in many ways. They do less damage when logging than motorized equipment .
Hello Lee how’s the weather over there
I love watching these horses do their thing.
Wonder if European armies used these horses to haul cannons around a couple centuries back. Those artillery pieces even during the Napoleonic Wars were NOT light.
That thing looks more like a bear than a horse!
Petra Lorenzen Grizzly bears are known to be able to kill charging bulls with one paw swipe so I believe a large bear would win
I don't think it's cruel at all; it's what she was born to do and I'll bet she loves throwing her weight into the harness. She's magnificent.
exactly right
you are an idiot.
Not bitchin' just making my comment and last time I looked it was still the USA. Thanks.
She made that look effortless. STRONG big girl!
truly beautiful horse, very strong and well taken care of.
