Nice. I built a small plywood desktop for my nephew and used a black dye. After it dried I sprayed water based poly on top of it and it left it with kind of a blueish tint. I thought it was horrible because it wasn't what I wanted but my nephew loves it. Looks like the finish on yours came out nice.
What kind of dye did you use? If it's water soluble it might have mixed with the poly. I used leather dye but I also heard that India ink is great. Some are made with Shellac. So it's stable.
Learned lots of things, thank you. Watched you move deliberately and at a slower pace. Think this makes the whole project less "frenetic." I tend to rush and rush. If I slow, maybe my projects will turn out better and I'll be less mentally harried. Leather dye is a great idea (have to look up what type you mentioned). Built up edge is great and adds a professional design look. Well done.
Thanks! An edited video can tell lies. Haha But I do try to plan things out. Most of the time I try to sketch and pay attention to how things will come together. I found that mistakes are less and you're able to be more efficient. i.e. not sanding an awkward piece. Glad you found it useful. Means a lot to hear that.
Lovely work mate. As an alternative to leather dye, you might want to try India ink. I did it on a picture frame I built, shows the grain and everything. Kudos to you mate!

The color and sheen on the final product looks amazing! I see you're using a 4oz container of leather dye. How much dye did you end up using on the project?
Yeah. I wanted to get it as dark as possible so I thought the wood conditioner would make it light. Maybe multiple coats and the conditioner would work?
Thanks!. Awesome. Hope it serves as inspiration. If you need any info don't hesitate. I've just finished up a couple other desk over on my Instagram as well.
Hi, I hope you don't mind me saying but please never push the wood through the saw with your fingers in line with the blade as you did on the bevel cut. I have subbed you though just look after those digits ;)
I assume you're talking about my left hand? You're right. I really need to get a feather board to keep me from doing that. Thanks for the feedback. Appreciate the sub!
@@WallyboisWoodworking yeah, looks like hard work. I'm still trying to find my footing and find ways to incorporate the charity elements without taking away from the builds. You have some nice content. Will definitely check your stuff out. Subbed.
Hi. Perhaps there is a renewable and sustainable woodworking project that could be made inexpensively, and also could be easily made and be given away. I had an idea for developing a completely efficient design "rocket stove" out of steel, or clay (whatever is more avaiable) so people could heat and cook while minimizing or eliminating the amount of smoke that come out. The materials could be shipped or acquired in the country, whatever worked out well. There could also be house designs that utilized the same idea to heat the home in winter, as well as be used for cooking. By fiddling with the airflow and design there is a limitless amount of possibilities for how the stove and homes are built, both together and separately. It would look like or similar to the indoor fireplaces, earthen stoves, and other cooking and heating stoves found on RUclips. The goal would be to get the amount of combustible containment to almost zero, so there is clean air for the house hold. Just a thought. Or maybe another idea would be to research some household items and furniture that people might need and replicate them and send them to them. Good luck and very nice videos.
Thanks for the sub and support! You're one of a few that have asked me this question. I haven't considered this before but I'm looking into starting one soon.
Hey buddy, I want to make a 100x200cm plywood tabletop for a standing desk (this standing desk: ruclips.net/video/EXjR-o5gu2w/видео.html&ab_channel=Kraftmade). Which plywood width would you recommend to make the tabletop sturdy enough for a 3x27" inch monitor setup? I was thinking 3/4¨ is enough, what do you think? Also, is there anything, in particular, I should have an eye on when making the tabletop? Thanks in advance! Have a good one!
Hey, sorry for the late reply. Missed this comment. I think that 3/4 ply is plenty strong for your requirements. I would consider the placement of the bottom supports so that you don't have flex in the middle. Also, doubling up the edges like I did in my build really adds strength to the span of the desk. I think the video you linked did something similar.
Tipping the hat to you ! Better to give then receive. Your heart is centered perfectly.
Thanks for the kind words. Appreciate it!
