- Nicknamed "Black Panther", sometimes "Black Pearl" or "O Rei", Eusébio was undoubtedly one of the greatest players of all time.
Portugal's legend, Benfica's best player ever, Eusébio was known for his speed, technique, flair, strength, athleticism and right-footed shot.
He scored 733 goals in 745 games.
He won the 1965 Ballon d'Or and the 1966 FIFA Golden Boot.
He also won third place with Portugal in the 1966 World Cup.
Unfortunately he could not prevent Manchester United from beating his Benfica and winning the 1968 European Cup.
Benfica lost the final 4-1 against a team composed of Bobby Charlton, George Best and coached by Matt Busby.

What a player, I watched this game and seeing those snippets makes me realise how lucky MUFC were that night. No way Nobby stays on the pitch nowadays, at least two red card tackles in that clip.
Completely unsportsmanlike. Although I miss this type of rough and tumble play, I do prefer the fact that footballers need to be able to play and tackle these days. Shame about English football’s commercialization and bastardization

No he isn’t. Eusebio was to Pelé what Cristiano Ronaldo is to Messi. Both Eusebio and Cristiano lacked that creative, God-given genius that Pelé and Messi had that made the latter duo the best players of their generation.

@@Alphoric What are you smoking? Do you see Eusebio’s dribbling, his control of the ball, his shooting ability? That’s God-given talent. You can’t recreate it with better training information, sports science and nutrition, and resources. Either you have the talent (and you’re willing to work hard to harness it), or you don’t. If Eusebio had been born in 1992 or 2002 rather than 1942 and received all the advantages and benefits of today’s game, he’d be even more praised and worshipped today than he was in the 1960s, especially by the masses who these days seem obsessed with statistics.
Depends on what you value. Ronaldo was more technically gifted and somehow was even faster than Eusebio, but Eusebio was easily the better finisher and shooter from long distance.
