That is actually a No. 4 combined Seeder/Wheel hoe, thus the geared wheel. You could detach the seeder unit and attach the wheel hoe tool bar, using the same front assembly. The other PJ wheel hoes had the larger 15in wheels. The No. 4 was a more compact seeder. Nice work!

Love the fact of your application of days gone by. Haven’t heard the expression “ elbow grease “ in years. I used one of those when I was a kid, only we used our horse to pull it. Whoops. Telling my age. Oh well guess I’m vintage too. ,lol

Nice work. The metal pieces are beautiful - like pieces of art. I love well made old stuff. I used to go to a lot of farm auctions in the 70s when many old family farms went out of business and came home with a lot of treasures.

LOL, I remembered how much I hate steelwool :) Made think of polishing the bike tires with naval jelly as a kid...

You may be able to double your estimated age of that thing. The no 4 was in production from 1897 thru to about 1950. I have 1 with the seeder, and 2 each of the no.17, and no. 18 wheel hoes
