Please, please make this into a full 90 minutes movie. This is one of the best shorts I've watched in ages. The actors, the cinematography, the story, the direction -- everything is perfect.
Finding a kindred spirit when you feel alone in the world is everything!
I have no idea how old you are or what compelled you to make this film but it has the revelatory spirit of the time, when music by artists like Bowie, Sparks, the New York Dolls and others were opening sonic portals into other possibilities of being. You and your actors and your cinematographer are all extremely gifted. Bravo.
Thank you so much Eric. The era exists in my soul and by making a film like this, I get to live in a time I wish I was there for. It’ll be a feature film very soon so stay tuned!
❤🎉 can't hardly be for the next film.
Can't wait
I know damn well every Marauders fan pressed on this faster than light
Yep 💀👹
Yes me too though i reallyblove david bowie asswel
I was a sophomore in high school in 73. So much of this a reflection of my youth in SW Indiana
Ditto I was 16 in 1973
You captured a little slice of my life in your wonderful film. I was seventeen in 1973 and David Bowie, Mott The Hoople and all the others introduced me to that wonderful genre of music. Suburban NYC wasn't that far away from Georgia in a way. Nobody really dared to be like Billy. Manhattan was a world away. I was like Jacob but I sat in solitude listening to Diamond Dogs and All The Young Dudes without a Billy. Soon, Glam became mainstream but it wasn't the same somehow. You brought back a lot of memories and for that I thank you.
This was a moment in my queer awakening portrayed in an 8 minute short film! So well done and so accurately reflecting how some of this music drew many of us in who were searching for something to relate to. I was 15 in '73 and had all of this music - New York Dolls, T-Rex/Marc Bolan, Bowie for days, the first Queen album with Killer Queen and Flick of the Wrist, Mott the Hoople, etc etc! And for the most part their messaging was speaking to something in our queer consciousness. As far as presentation I was probably something between the two main characters - at times tight bell bottoms, crop tops and platforms, at others gym shorts, tube socks, sneakers, t-shirts. Thank you for this short and for letting me relive a moment in my formative years!
Thank you for sharing this. The film carries your energy with it and people like you exist at the heart of the story. I can’t wait to make the full feature length version. It’s my dream project.
this is a literal work of art, thank you so much for letting be a part of it!!
Omg is that Sirius and Remus? 😂😍
WOW! I lived through this era! You have made a beautiful and exceptionally well-executed film with performances that are truly brilliant. The nuance, subtlety, and chemistry between the two leads is just stunning and so moving in their authenticity. The way you captured those ineffable moments between them that can only be described as "when chances breathe between the silence" was breathtaking! Thank you.
this is a masterpiece omg !! congratulations to the cast and crew, honestly everyone did such an amazing job.
i died when he started quoting lady stardust 😭💘
1973 I was 19 in London active in the GLF marching to Trafalgar Square and at night dancing in the gay nightclubs endlessly. I was always told I looked like Marc Bolan. Hung out with Angie Bowie and Bryan Ferry, met Elton and Kiki Dee. We all hung out in the clubs. It was a gay euphoria I was so privileged to live through. Great film guys. It made me realise poignantly that millions of boys in Smallville North America could only dream of my life then. Even Smallville North Yorkshire I guess. London was a world epicentre of sexual exploration through music and political activism in 1973.
I hope it would've been a really beautiful experience at 19. I'm 22 and trying things better, but yeah messages like yours makes the human, a human, and I absolutely adore it. Also, you look so great in your profile picture. Have a good day ahead :)
@@koalashez4789 thanks enjoy the 22’s!!
Incredible. I remember that time. Feeling alive finally and able to be myself. Kudos to the king Bowie.
What a beautiful film congratulations to all involved
My favourite time in music. Nothing beats it ,T Rex ,Marc Bolan has so many classic songs.
Bowie and Lou Reed were my heros and saving grace from the age of 13.
Music iS anD always will be my heart and soul.
Such a great short film . Fantastic ,i would love to see a longer version. Thanks for posting
Beautifully conceived and an outstanding tribute to a golden era! I don't mind being 'old' for the privilege of having lived through it. (Subscribed)
Wow that was way, way too good to be a student film. Really well done. 👍🏻
I can't tell you how many things I loved about this film....thank you and best to you as you expand into the next project!
I grew up in Ireland and was 12 in the summer of 1971 when a school friend lent me a copy of Electric Warrior ... my life was changed forever. The Slider album was the first to come out while I was already an obsessed Bolan and T.Rex fan and the next band to have close to the same wow factor for me was Mott The Hoople though that may have initially been because they mentioned T.Rex in the song. I was along for the Hoople Ride for their next two albums before moving on but, to this day my heart misses a beat every time I hear a Marc Bolan song and that opening riff of All The Young Dudes sends me into a nosedive of nostalgia withing nano seconds . Great movie , thanks.
Love this!🙂✌🎸
Brilliant!!!! I loved it!! The actors the expressions the camera work everything is just so good!!! (Subscribed)
Ive been looking for
something like this all my life, thank you so so much
Wow! Just Wow!
Masterfully executed!! 👏👏❤
William Stead, where have your films been all my life Sir? I don’t know what else to say, but thank you.
Such a well done film! Congratulations Cast and Crew - well done!
In the 80s I found my tribe of 4. We don’t talk now but I’m still next to them in spirit.
the second I heard the lady stardust lyric I freaking screamed omg ❤
Adorable. A glam coming-of-age film. Jacob is so adorable. But the real resonance is that moment of discovering someone else who might be like you.
So heavy, but even more super Casting was genius along with musix ,,sound, make up and the counter culture theme of liberation. As a psy I applaud your upstream strength and courage. The brush of. added courage was simply extra (fr)
hi WIlliam, when i was 14 in suburban LA in 1974 i started my gay career with a friend with our mutual love of Elton John and other glam rockers. it was such a contradictory time as being gay definitely was not OK but people completely looked the other way with them. just as contradictory is that conservative Orange County where i grew up had so many gay bars that it rivaled Hollywood. it's almost as if there were some sort of detente at the time where everybody was listening to what they wanted, and fucking who they wanted straight and gay. i mean, for god sake i saw Rocky Horror at the Grove Theater when i was 14 with friends and it was definitely wtf, but i don't recall any of them being homophobic. it wouldn't be until the end of the decade that the religious right used this as a wedge issue to rise to power that the detente ended.
Very nice, William, very sweet! I loved everything about it. Thank you!!!!
This is so beautiful im so excited for the long version I couldn't stop smiling
Its funny. I always saw the "glam" period as being on the gay/trans/unusual side.
Important to point out im British and the glam period was a bit more well known than USA in the 70s
Wow, music of my youth. Beautiful. It never gets old. Great little film. I love it. Thumbs up from ex Tomboy, a "tomgranny" nowadays. 😊
I can’t be convinced that this isn’t just a spiritual reincarnation of Danny Avidan before NSP lol
Amazing ❤
This is a brilliant piece. Thank you for sharing. ❤

Woohoo, nice he found another brother shaking with the psychedelics...

i got a bravebooks ad on this video. they're barking up the wrong tree lmao.
AMAZING!!!
Bravo!
Also, not that I am that good at it necessarily, but I'm pretty sure there are no time-era mistakes for 1973.
@3:00 "hey Mom, whats that?"
If you're going to make a spectacle of yourself don't be surprised when you become one.

Yeah, I was a big fan.
NO WAY OMG
Nice😀

I'm pretty certain Mott the Hoople performed the song but not given credit. WTF
@Johnhr10: Checked on Wikipedia: 'On the verge of breaking up, the band were encouraged by David Bowie to stay together. Bowie wrote the glam-style song "All the Young Dudes" for them, which became a big hit in 1972. Bowie subsequently produced their album of the same name, which added to their success.'
Wonder what Governor DeSantis thinks about it.
excellent images due to great work with the, liights, during the film. characters are ok. but the script is not good enough.
Wonderful, uplifting.
