Jared Polin subscribe my chaanal
Jared Polin hey I'd like to submit my photography website for your critique. How can I do that?
I mention it in the video.
Jared Polin you are my favirote
I would consider squarespace if they did not screw you on the email. It is insane that for $20/month you do not get domain emails included. They need to fix that. No reason I should have to pay more just to get my own email that comes free with most other site hosts. Convince them to change it please.
Was curious to see your website after watching this. A couple comments, 1) I don't want to "enter you," ever. Very unfortunate choice of words. You said in the video you would be changing that, good idea. 2) I know your mom in the hospital was probably a very personal and touching moment for you; however, opening your website with photo of a woman on a hospital bed doesn't make me want to engage you for a photo shoot. Lead with your music or street photography. Most of the comments you made about the site in this review were accurate but I would strongly suggest putting that same level of critique to your site and making the changes before offering a critique of another photographer's site.
@Remy Nemr did u just say "needn't" ?!
Brutally honest and not one bit false
Lots of good marketing advice in here: keep it simple, establish value before trying to sell, be more focused (can’t be all things to all people as tempting as it may be!).
Great comment thanks.
Jared’s advice on wedding pricing here was one of the most useful things I’ve heard from his videos, I very much agree and especially hate pricing packages based on time, feels so cheap.
Personly I like the dark background, It makes the photos pop and stand out. To me, a photo seems lost with a white background, but everyone has there own opinion.
Snap-Shot-AHP I was thinking the same thing.
I didn't even realize this was a sponsored video partial ad until the end. I mean that as a complement.
I thought this was useful, and showing out some of the ease of use of squarespace was just part of showing how easy it is to do a decent web site these days.
Nice review!
Loved the statement at 2:30!
People sometimes share too much story instead of just putting out what they already did!
great video fro bro! i always learn something from your videos...thankyou for being here!
12hrs of family photos? Who the hell needs that
possible over 3 days? like a family reunion event
That 3 month old photographer line had me rolling 😂😂😂
Me too haha I was eating and almost spat out my food 🤣🤦🏼♀️🤣
Thank you,
Jared for that lesson through critique. Your clear, suggestive points and comments help much. Wishing you and yours the best in 2019.
I dont always agree with you Fro....but sometimes I do...and those times are great.
I'm an amateur photographer and an artist by nature.looking to find work in this field., It's my life passion.I appreciate your honesty."MUCH LOVE"
Sometimes I can't believe you have the balls to critique other peoples websites, especially another photographers but I have to say most of the time I totally agree with you. Really enjoy these Jared, please don't critique this comment hahaha
phynx2006 Haha
I'm checking his website right now, it is june 2nd and it seems he changed the entire website, LOL
Hey Jared, these videos have been amazing in helping me create my site and even book clients! Thanks so much
I know I am late to the party on this one, but I really dig what you said (more so, everything you said about pricing), and breaking bread to cats to help out with bigger shoots. I have done that plenty of times, but not just with photography. Good stuff, sir. Good stuff.
Man this is crazy. I love the insights on $$$ part of the business. In Poland a Full wedding with reception and part of prepatation before the ceremony in houses of the bride and the groom od like 1,500 $...
This was super helpful, thank you for sharing! Hope you continue to do more of these.
Thank you.
I worked with a web designer once who insisted that my site be on one page, just like this one. He said that's the modern look, that's what people want to see.
The biggest reason was that you could have more content on your home page, which helps a TON with SEO. For a photographer looking to expand, SEO is incredibly valuable. The way this is executed may not be the best, but I do like the single page websites.
This guy is just GIVING it away! Way to throw down the much needed knowledge Jared...
He did take your advice, and I must say, it does look much better than the one in the video. Great stuff.
The longer hour packages (12 hours) wouldn't necessarily have to be all in one day, it could have been like a weekend gig. or a Family Reunion package with 4 hours-6 hours each day. Something like that
Paul actually took your advice... GOOD DEAL!!!
Yay critiqueymccritickerson 😂 Did I spell that right! LoL! Great video Jared! ❤️👍🏻📸
Thank you Jared that was some really educational information I watched the whole thing all the way through. I don't normally do that but that's the reason why I subscribe to your Channel because you are awesome
with adobe, you can get lightroom, photoshop, bridge, a free portfolio website for 10 dollars per month. What is so great about square space, compare to adobe portfolio? why would i need to switch to square space?
Great Video!
i actually did care about paul's bio lol I went back and finished it
Barry Daley idk that photographer Bryce might need some critique 😆😆😆
I have all different types of images on my site, urban, abstract, portraits, existing light, architecture, Time exposure etc. Your website should be like a portfolio. To show off what you have done.
Love your videos. You're a funny dude, dude. I will be trying a Square Space account in the not too distant future.
Even before Fro says, "I don't care" (and I have paused it right at that moment before listening to more) I was thinking the same thing. Paul---no disrespect but you've gotta GRAB people with something, and that's not your life's story, unless you and your journey are utterly remarkable in some way. Imagine you're interviewing for a job (which is what this is) and the interviewer says right up front "Tell me why you'd be good for this job and my company." You'd NEVER, EVER start your explanation the way you did with your website intro. And mentioning what gear you use, or what you started with, is of no value whatsoever. Again---that's a detail that's important to you, but not to anyone else.
Anthony C annnnnnd before I even read your comment I was thinking the same thing "I don't care"
TheSchoolNoob Bravo for you, then!
Can I ask you what is the best beginner’s camera for shooting products or small subjects to own ?!
Thanks in advance 🌸🌸
Great stuff! Well done
"Peace and Love...Peace and Love." Ringo
Well that was quick. He changed it up based on what you said. Looks better except the large photos, that kind of put me off. If I want to see a large photo I could click on it. Should have smaller photos IMO.
“Enter Me” LOL
C N That’s what she said lol
What would you prefer for wildlife photography and 35% video the canon 80d or the nikon d7200. My budget is $1,200. Does the shutter capacity for the d7200 being 150,000 better than the 80d being 100,000. I am not invested heavily into any brand. Thank you in advance
Si Wheeler ok thanks
I have the 80D and its a really good all rounder
80d (or77d to add in body stabilizer) and you'll definitely get what you want. Plus the 50mm 1.8 is just only 99 €$ which makes the whole deal a steal for any beginner.
Good critique.
I love you Polin, and I actually love that jarrid Polin pro knows photo do com and you are watching bla bla bla bla. Wow man where did you got that great voice?
which is best to buy nikon d7500 or nikon d7200?
for weeding
wow, love this 😙
Is this similar to using Smugmug? This is one area, I’m not familiar with. I pay 25 a month for it with ability to buy from from my site.
Can I do all the same with this company, you’re recommending?
Peace and Love

Hi Jared. Please don't abandon RAW talk. I really miss it.
lol, I got a federal job and "I don't care"! I wasn't ready for that XD
12 hour family photo sessions?????????????????????? what?
Man, I miss the fisher price camera!! 😂
Do you ever contact the photographer's website that you critique
Is Adobe Portfolio an okay site to use while I'm still in college or should I migrate to a different site?
*RAW*
How long does it take to get critiqued?
crazy pricing... yikes
Y I K E S
Tyler Sultan I'm have absolutely no idea about wedding photography so I'm wondering... are you meaning crazy low or crazy high pricing?
Crazy high... for the quality.
yeah... standard pictures for crazy prices...
Its funny listening to a narcissist criticizing another narcissist. How many times have you told your story! Paul probably learn that from you. lol
lol yes!
Why is a photographer commenting on website design? You are stepping on other people's area. I am a technical writer with qualifications and experience of website interaction design (including SEO). The website you commented on is not great but not only due to some of the reasons you mentioned. However, I would not comment on a professional photographer's work - I would get a photographer to comment on another photographer's work.
Hi, I have question....Do you recommend watermarking your photos in your own website?
never
Why not? I've been back and forth on the fence about it. One day I'll think it's completely tacky and distracting, then the next I feel like I absolutely should.
@Goody Morillas, thanks for a reply. Makes sense, I know quite a few well established, well known old school photographers that do actually, sometimes it's a hit and miss for them, they don't watermark every photo.
I thought it's not always necessarily about stealing work, but that it's just for reference so that if someone sees a stand alone pic outside it can be referenced back to the photographer in case you wanted to purchase them or visit their website which is why I started out marking mine, especially for my food photography for the recipes...
So on that note is your opinion any different for prints/posters you sell for reference purposes of the actual photo that someone receives to hang in their house, any reason for or against that from that aspect?
I see, makes sense, thank you! I wrote a blogpost this morning and included photos without a watermark to see how I would feel about it, was kind of freeing in a sense by not having to take the time to photoshop one in, so maybe today marks the day I stop and just be happy and satisfied with it. Thanks for you help, appreciate it!
Great video
Lol, the cringe when you say Fro knows photo. com. 😂😂😂
Opeyemi Adetifa I love it haha. It’s my laugh a day moment. (In a good way, I promise)
I'm here for the comments 😂 🍿
Matisyahu!!! Yess
You: “Drag and drop websites are stealing jobs from people.”
Me: “well maybe you should keep up with technological advancements or get left in the dust.”
Coming from a web designer/developer point of view, I don't think any of you should do your own sites. Squarespace I'd leave it well alone, bespoke all the way.
NightShooter well of course you don’t recommend square space, it’s stealing work from you🙄
NightShooter I think this particular website was built using an application called Mobirise. It's a very simple drag 'n' drop web editor. Great for people with no web programming background.
Damn, 8 to 10 hours, here we shoot for 14-18 hours
You should look up mortenhilmer.com

Talking a bout the ANGRY PHOTOGRAPHER
Good video but harsh again... I like your videos but sometimes you are just super harsh.
Waiting for someone to critique This fro guy
ok?
Jared Polin just want to see your reaction to someone critiquing you, you put a lot of people down and it would be hilarious to see you shut up for once
It's a critique for a reason... he isn't just saying "Look at this idiot, he's doing this so wrong" and leaving it at that. The point of critiquing is to point out the weak points, not to be mean or insulting or "put people down", but to provide appropriate feedback on what can be improved, which he does excellently in all of these videos. Critiques aren't personal attacks. They are to provide constructive criticism. He isn't tearing someone down, he is trying to help them improve.
FairlyUnknown I’ve seen him put people down plenty of times 🤷🏿♀️ it’s just funny how when someone critiques him he gets but hurt like that whole bullshit with another RUclipsr
Sign your rights over!!! Never!
David Nash the rights to ALL pictures gets me... I wouldn't give away ALL my pictures from a shoot...cos half of them are probably not even usable 😂😂😂
LOL Only half, you're doing about 30% better than me. But then I don't shoot weddings, just the thought scares the pants off me.
for a wedding, absolutely. Give me tons of money, here have all the images.
Have all the images by all means, but not the rights. You want reprints/enlargements etc, sure, but it will cost you.
The grammar throughout is atrocious to put it lightly. If you're not the best writer, have someone proofread your site.
Yes
the dude needs to work on his photo... the photos are mediocre at best..... and if i was a client and i was gonna spend ANY amount of money with this dude.. i wouldnt... his portfolio is crap and there is bugger all in his portfolio!! Just dreadful
Where I don't care Hahahaha
Would LOVE a critique! ericsorensenphotography.com
Could you not give all that same advice without ripping apart someone's website unsolicited? I know there are no laws against free speech, and you can say whatever you want so long as it's not libellous. However, ethically.... you cool with just tearing someone a new one in public? Don't get me wrong... I can't really find anything negative about the advice you're giving, but this kind of picking on the little guy in public... does that make you a bully? Sorry, but I think it does.
